  • Beginner (n00b if you will) has questions for the experts

I've been playing for . . . about two weeks now and I've got a lvl 12 WAR. I'm planning on getting the SAM quest right around lvl 32 and then subbing with WHM (My WHM is at lvl 2 right now:sweat: ) If anyone could help me out with finding equipment/food for my time as a WAR, and also any tips on where to level because . . . I'm in limbo between partying in Valkrum Dunes and soloing up in Ghelsba. Thanks a bunch, and please /tell me sometime!

Why not? That would be the coolest! Heavy damage and healing skills!

Subbing WHM would be fine for soloing, but when it comes down to grouping...you'll want the extra strength and hit points. If you really want to be a "white warrior", pick Paladin.
        32/War, 54/SAM, 25/Thf, 34/Rng
        37/Cooking, 22/Fishing

not to mention the jobs don't really compliment each other like SAM/WAR would...

          or WHM/BLM

It'd be like putting diesel fuel in a sports car instead of super unleaded.

"Dood! Diesel is so much cheaper than that super, ultra unleaded! Plus big, strong semi trucks use it, so it has to be good!"

But that's not what it was meant for... and you'll end up doing more damage to yourself (and your party) than the good that you're intending, that you'll actually have to backtrack and start from scratch to get the right thing going.
          Alright.... who farted?

I say go for what you want. But as the above statments indicate, I do have to agree with the facts presented. (Not so sure about the Gasoline comment...Eh Whatever.)

Anyway. As an Elvann WAR; you're probably going to want to continue to use the WAR as a subjob later. (Waisted time is a bad thing in this game....) But as a suggested Sub-job for a Elvann SAM would be either WAR or THF. (I have yet to see a SAM/THF though...) WAR Because of the extra ATK, DEF, Double Attack, Provoke (If you're really in a pinch..) And THF for the Added DEX, AGI, Sneak attack, Trick attack; Extra item-getting (Steal), and Gil getting. (Because DEX and AGI are a Major problem for Elvann....)

But with the facts there, it makes a little bit of sense. At least it does to me. Elvann have High MND, So Healing Magic is able to be used a little bit better....But whatever you want, go for it. As long as you contribute, I don't think a group would mind having a SAM/WHM. Come to think about it, it's sorta like a RDM....Feh. Whatever. Point-in-Case is; Pick what you want. You'll be playing the game in your character, Enjoy it.

Oh and, you're only a newbie as long as you make yourself out to be.

Hehehe, I understand. The whole 'wasting time' thing does make a lot of sense too. I'll have my WAR up to level 30+ by the time I even get SAM, so it would make sense to use WAR as my subjob. I'll definately try using WHM as my sub, and maybe MNK or THF just because I can . . . anything to up my Elvaan's horrible accuracy.

Thanks again, and please help me out with any other tips for my developing WAR!
