Great Katana bugged ??

Ok is GKT bugged in anyway or is it just me?? i tend to miss alot with GKT ( i have 15 acc + 8dex extra). My friend is an elf too, except he's a DRK with less acc and dex items then me but hit more often then me ... even my polearm with less skill lvl then my GKT hit around the same rate as my GKT...

I thought the saaame thing when I started working SAM.

Apparently, accuracy is an issue with two-handed weapons like great katanas, two handed swords, great axes, etc. I'm assuming cause you gotta lumber the damn thing around like a tree trunk, rather than with the presicion that you can use with smaller weapons.

I guess it's also a way to balance out the greater damage that these weapons do... like when I was starting out killing Tiny Mandragoras and Bees... I'd miss a whole lot, but it only took 2-3 real hits to kill them.

Hmmm, I never noticed this with my great axe as an elvaan but I haven't really gotten to high levels yet. I have heard that Katanas miss VERY often though for some reason.

They do miss quite often. The best thing to do is equip +Dex items and use food that will increase your dex.

Right now with my food buff and equipment buffs i have +9dex and that helps alot.

Balance Rings , which are LVL 14 add 2 dex and 4 lightning resist but cost a pretty penny. Amethyst Rings only add 1 dex and 3 lightning resist, however, i think they are much cheaper if you can afford the balance rings yet.

Spike Necklace is a lvl 21 neck item and adds 3 to Str and 3 to dex while taking 6 from mind while being cheaper then 1 balance ring.

Smoked Salmon us also pretty nice , its +2 dex and -1 mind, like most good food though the cost can add up fast.

Like to see anyone elses suggestions on +Dex or +Acc items and food if they can to..would be helpful

What food helps with DEX that is acutally out there? I've looked at charts and I am unable to find anyone making the food that is listed for DEX.

Yes, it seems to be a 2h weapon problem. I've noticed it with GKs and Polearms as a SAM, and even Scythes and Greatswords as a DRK.

You just have to stick it out, and wait until lvl 30+ where you can start getting decent gear, such as +ACC gear.
+Dex helps too, of course, but ACC is better.

Some suggestions :
- Royal Squire's Mufflers (lvl30 San D'oria CP gauntlets) - +2 ACC
- Jujitsu Gi - +4 ACC (kinda expensive to buy, but still feasible with some farming. Pants and Gi drop from the same mob, and I think pants have some +DEX)
- Lifebelt - +10 ACC

If you're rich, or VERY lucky with NMs, I'd also suggest going after Leaping Lizzy, Valkurm Emporer, Argus, Mee Deggi the Punisher, etc. for their drops if you can. Very nice additions, but certainly not gear for the "average" SAM.

Archer's / Sniper's rings are also a very nice addition, and something to look into, if you can get them.

Roast Pipira is the best dex related food that I can think of off the top of my head. +3dex and +14%attk if memory serves. Very pricey though, 7k+ a stack on my server, so its debatable on their worth over mithkabobs. However if you were to get to 25ish fishing and 20ish cooking, you could catch/cook them yourself with little or no money involved.

Judging from your +acc and dex, your level and experience far outweighs mine, but I have become rather content with my hit rate after 30 with archer rings and the like, though before that it was a nightmare. Unlike drg/rng/mnk, drk and sam get no passive traits that help accuracy, so I imagine hit rate will always be an issue until you have access to the really nice +acc gear. Still trying to figure out how im going to save up 4mil or beat the campers to get peacock charm ;p

I know camping/farming isn't everyone's thing, and alot of the items are ungodly expensive, but by level 50, most dps classes could be packing 35acc+ in gear or so.

Sorry didn't take the time to read this thread really but it's not so much that G katana misses more than other weapons, you just tend to notice when you miss more because A) Samurai often watch their TP bars and for when they land hits and B) the delay is so long on the G katana that when you miss you really feel the hurt.

Hmm i really wouldn't wear VE pin or LL boots over other equips as a sam. . . sniper rings do help quite a bit tho.

erm.. the issue is really that why does a drk elf with less dex and acc items then me, hit more then me? i find it really strange. Even polearm with less skill then GKt tends to hit more.. no joke! i dunno if it's me only

uh... isn't accuracy based on agi and not dex? or is that just ranged equipment?

AFAIK :

Dex = chance to critical hit (both melee and ranged); melee accuracy.
Agi = dodge/evasion rates; ranged accuracy.

For accuracy gear, there are both melee accuracy and ranged accuracy items... so I'd say that no, they're not the same.
Just like their are +atk gear, and +ranged atk gear.

I wonder at the difference I'd see if I equiped Ryl Muffler's with their +2 ACC over the Cnt. Gauntlets with their +1 DEX. I just leveled to 30 last night, bought the Cnt's, but I have plent of CP I could use to pickup my homeland's +ACC gear.

Right now my stats are:
34 (+3) STR
32 (+8) DEX
31 (+3) VIT
30 (+3) AGI

the rest don't matter =)
