  • how does stat increase work w/leveling?

I'm thinking about starting as a monk and then changing to samurai/warrior... The reason i wanna start as monk is since as a monk you would get some good stat increases as you level..(if it works the way i think it does... ) Now my perception is that as you level up your main job.. the stats automatically increase based on that job.. so like a monk would get some good hp, dexterity and vitality increase as i level up.. Which would be benificial to myself as a samurai later on.. And then when i switched to Warrior and then Sam/War my stats would increase in the agility and strength and i'd already have the decent increase in dex, vitality and hp..
So is this how stats are increased??? How do they increase?? hehe

And if this idea is a decent idea... should i level upto 18monk and then be monk/whatever for monk.. tilll level 30... then switch to warrior.. then @ level18 be warrior/whatever.. and then @ level 30 be samurai?? I figure 30 levels would give me some good stat alterations if stats increase how i think they would...:spin:

there is no point in doing that since your even using monk with sam/war. you have to use your monk to get the stat bonus

      thx, but doesn't answer...

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question.. Basically i wanna know if the stats are base stats when you start off... then as you level your character as a monk.. you'd get better stat increase in hp vitality and dex then warrior.. THEN if i changed to warrior class.. would my stats be the same as i had w/ my monk (without any of the job trait bonuses and such) Just my base stats... If so then if i changed to warrior i could increase str more than if i stayed as monk, and my vitality and hp would already be better off than if i started as a warrior... and once i level up warrior my str would be higher than if i stayed as a monk.. giving my Sam/War better overall stats rather than if i just leveled up the warrior and since he doesn't have as good hp and vitality such as a monk.

Let me get this straight, you're asking if your stats from monk are added to your character even if you're not using the monk job?

Umm, this is definitely a new one, but I'll try.

No, no, no. No no no no, no no, nono no no. NO nonono no no.

          i know, i know...

I know, i know... I've played roughly.. 45min wandering in Bastok on my friends account... I have to wait till march for it to come out on the ps2.. So yeah it's not like most of the games stats where you level up... get say.. 50mp, 100str 100dex 100hp.. then you switch to mage.. and you've still got 100str, dex, hp... and now that you're a mage your mp goes up more than the others so soon you'll have like 100mp, 125str, 125dex, 150hp.. but yeah.. I'm going to be a monk.. then sam/warrior later.. it'll be fun. YaAY!

No, no. I get what he's asking.

He's asking whether or not your character starts off with base stats, and then lvls up in certain categories more depending on which job you choose.

So he's asking if he lvls up for a while with MNK, if that will increase his DEX more, which would then carry over, beneficially, to his SAM job when he gets it.

Of course, we all know it doesn't work this way. Your stats are entirely dependant on which job you are, and as you change jobs, so do your stats. You can't lvl up STR to 46 as a WAR, then switch over to WHM and keep that STR stat.

Therefore, what you're suggesting will in no way benefit your SAM in the long run, at least not in the way you're describing.

            Everyone get that?:spin:

            Shura [0/5] ~ God [1/5]

            Tachi: Kasha [o]

I think he knows what he's asking and in a lot of ways it makes sense.

                    1) Start with mnk for the damage and hp.

                    2) Get subjob quest done at level 18

                    3) Start anew with war1/mnk1 for the mnk hp and stat bonus

                    4) At war30/mnk15 get samurai

                    5) Start anew again with sam1/war1

I think thats what he's asking. Basicly if you level a job those bonus attribute points and hp are when the job is equiped only. If you go from ranger20 to whitemage5 you will only have the stats of whitemage5. If you equip a subjob you have half of the level of the main job. For instance war30/mnk15 would have the stat and hp increase of a mnk15.

                          Disclaimer:

I am not actually DJ Loki, or in any way shape or form related to, near, don't even think he knows I exist. I just like to pass on information.

That said, according to the new site he/she/it is still having issues with the new site and says it should be up tomorrow.

I am too lazy to write out my own calculator. Also, I don't know the 'stripes' for the later advanced classes like Summoner.

Ok, the calculator isn't working at either site right now. Freewebs is giving me a lot of trouble with running the cgi script so I tried to get my Utexas account re-enabled, and surprisingly it may happen, so I'll keep you all up to date on the status of the calculator.

Khaelyn, I know you exist because you e-mailed me. Only three others have done so in the history of the enhanced calculator.
