    What's up, Red Mages!?!

    I haven't played since August 2008.

    What's been going on in the world of RDM since then?

    I see this nifty new gear on the front page, but I plan on getting the heavy set and throwing it on my PLD, adding Enmity and Fast Cast.

          Nothing groundbreaking; no updates to the job itself. Maybe some situational new gear that slips my mind but it's pretty much the same as when you left. They did just announce the whm update they've been talking about for years though, so maybe we're not far behind.

            They did promise in a few interviews (think I read them on JP Button) that RDM and WHM job adjustments were coming up very soon. WHM is coming with this update, so I'm going to bet that they'll be updating RDM with this coming update, too.

            Only time will tell if it's any good.

                Hmm. Ok well I quit playing in August because I wouldn't have time during the school year with being the VP of my fraternity and going into my senior year, and I was right.

                I started going out with this really GORGEOUS looking girl, who totally wasn't right for me. I mean, she was a friggin bombshell beauty, but it turns out that she's really shallow and I was making up reasons and over-hyping her accomplishments to somewhat validate our relationship. We got two months and I had to break up with her. Oh, and she totally has different political views, and we were raised to have different values. We didn't really get along.

                Then I had a quiet November aside from the fact that me and a few of my younger frat brothers in Boston snuck into the Harvard vs Yale game, got some Harvard gear and acted like we went there, and were blatantly getting hammered in the blistering cold, acting like it would make us warmer (it didn't, so we left). That was also the weekend I met my current girlfriend and the love of my life (been seeing her since December 12th).

                Got into a car accident on December 7th, had to get 10 stitches in my head and 5 past my scalp, had a concussion, don't remember the accident, had insane blood loss, and should've taken two weeks off, but I didn't because it was the start of the trimester and there were a jillion things going on on campus.

                Pretty much ran myself ragged, my grades tanked, and I'm now home in NYC taking some time off before I return to school in the fall. Trying to find a job related to my field so that I can get some worthwhile experience and get some pocket change (been home for over a week and I'm already depressed).

                Not to mention that I really don't go to sleep until 5 in the morning and wake up just in time to take care of my brother when he gets home from school, so at night I try to clean/organize my room and not be too depressed and push my girlfriend away, who is staying strong despite the fact that I'm much further away and living with my parents, so the weekend visits are a thing of the past.

                TL;DR


                I have a lot more free time, so it's back to FFXI!!

                First thing on my list- Relic Armor for PLD so I can not gimp it up too bad in sky and get some decent sky gear so I can not gimp it up in sea and get some god damned Homam.

                After that, I'm not sure.

                    Nothing much going on in the land of RDM. Update possible for the 8th, and WHM got an overhaul.

                    As far as myself goes, I got bored waiting for other RDM's to post parses on the applications and performances of a frontline RDM, so I started doing them myself.

                    So far the data shows we can do about as much damage as a Dancer before they got their nifty little Saber Dance to buff their damage up like crazy. (I parsed equal with a dancer wearing similar gear to mine... well, I actually beat her by under 2%, but she couldn't keep Saber Dance up.) I figure I'll keep parsing my small-parties to get a good gauge on damage before/after the supposed update so people can see how much it's improved.

                    Other than that, not much in game. Bunch of crap going on RL for me.

                    Glad to see you're still alive Wish. Hope you find a girl that actually fits you better.

                      She's t3h awesome. We have our issues, but no relationship is perfect.

                      OK, HERE'S WHAT I HEARD (correct me if I'm wrong kthnx)!! :-D

                      People don't really even TP burn anymore?
                      Campaign is pretty much what is done for exp?
                      People actually LAUGH at Ninjas, end-game and in TP-Burn - subsequently, PLD/NIN is pretty much the standard for end-game tanking?

                      What's this about people getting banned for duping items?

                      Ohhhhh man, I missed a WHOLE BUNCHA Torama these past months.

                              Here are pics from the accident. Not for the faint of heart.

                              Right after I was fully stitched up.

                              These negligent bastards sent me home without Gauze on my head, nor without cleaning off my damn scalp. Yes, I have a lawyer, and yes, he has these pictures. This is in the morning, I'd say about 6 hours after my accident. Was pouring peroxide on my scalp for 30 minutes to get it cleaned. (Couldn't, "get my head directly wet" (shower) for a couple of day. I was reduced to bird baths...)

                              Different angle.

                              But, it's healing ok, I suppose. 2 weeks after accident.
