  • As a lvl 30 whm/blm atm i was thinking of a change of pace and trying rdm out, after seeing my role in the PT develop i know i love casting, but i need to be more busy than a cure monkey

    The "trouble" is a am a taru with a chunk of time invested in whm already...do you think i would still make an efficient rdm/whm in the long run considering my ability to solo and convert efficiently?

        • Red Mage Spells

          Just got the game and no stragity guide (no more in store ). Can anyone pls help me on where I buy my spells pls. The only thing I've been doing is killing lil rabbits and lv'in. I am totaly lost and any help will be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

          • You buy spells at the magic store...check your map. You could also get them at the AH. Also, the magic-casting beatmen and goblin leechers.

                  • Int &amp; Mind &amp; Magic_Skill LVL do what?

                    I have read almost every post on this thread but not all the links, and also many other websites and message boards.

                    I understand basically that Int improves Black mage spells and
                    Mind improves White mage spells
                    but I want to know MORE!!!

                    Really I would like to know exactly how each spell is effected by Mind/Int/and the magic_skill of that spell.

                    MIND:
                    So far all I have heard is some theories about Mind effecting StoneSkin and other Strengthening magic while the lvl of Strengthening_Magic didn't do anything for StoneSkin. The same person said that if there is a later version of the spell ex: protect I,protect II... Mind/Magic_Skill_Lvl doesn't improve its effect, maybe its duration.

                    INT:
                    And what I have heard about INT is it makes your damage more consistantly high.

                    I have heard the skill lvl of your Weakening greatly effects Paralize causing the enemy to be paralized more often during the duration of the spell. I think it Weakening also has noticable effects on the spells slow and a few others.

                    I will post references later, but anyone have any more info??

                      hopefully this will help.

                      say you have a current intelligence of 15 and buy a +2 INT item and eat a pie +2/+25mp

                      The extra +4 will increase the variance of the damage.
                      lets say for instance you are figthing a akbaba
                      Its weak to ice magic , so you use an ice spell.
                      and on avg you do say about 50-75 points damage.
                      with the intelligence boosting the variant damage goes from 50-75 up to 62-87. thats the variance of the damage. I thinkits +3 per point of INT .

                      same thign with MND. BUT the big difference is healing spells have heal caps on them.
                      so a elvaan or taru or hume will all cast cure1 up to 30pts damage.
                      this is also based on your skill level.
                      When you first buy the spell like cure 1. and have not yet skilled up your healing magic. THATS where most of the variant healing comes from. from 20-30.

                      for some reason damage spells have a higher cap than healing spells. so they get stronger the more you level /skill up /boost thru items.


                      It makes sense to me hope it does to you also.

                      • That makes sence Tazirai, but that only coveres healing spells and damge dealing spells.

                        So far it sounds like INT is more important than MND because healing spells have a lower cap.

                        What about resist spells? Enchanting spells? Teleporting spells?Regen spells? Cure Status spells? Dispell? Phalanx? ....

                        How are these spells effected by MND and INT and skill_lvl?

                        Do you agree with this post about enchantment spells???

                        • 1 More thing whats the difference between the WHM lvl 21 Regen and the RDM lvl 21 Regen? Do they both do the dame thing Regenerate Hitpoints?

                          • I kinda agree with it, basically saying
                            that MND may be a factor in the duration of enhancements and debuffs.
                            same with INT.

                            example since i dont know the correct formula for the determination.

                            ex1
                            I use stoneskin and blink. lets say i have 175 enhancement skill and a base mnd stat of 45 with a variance of 5 from different items.

                            stoneskin has a set time of 15 minutes duration(ex.) now add the MND stat and its variance of 5. you have the duration increased by a 1 min per 20 points. so 15 + base mnd(45)= 17 minutes now add the +5 to the mnd stat and you gain an extra minute 45+5= 50. so you gain a few extra seconds to the duration.

                            as far as the damage absorbation I cant really say. BUt lets now add our enhancement skill.
                            175 you just gained another 8 minutes to your duration.
                            for a total of 25 minutes per casting.

                            I base this on 1 reason my stoneskin at 60+ lasts normally about 25 minutes.

                            so if I knew the exact numbers for enhancements id be okay.

                            BUt I thikn the above example is closer to than alot of others.





                            the whm and rdm regen does the same amount of hp.
