first post here , so heyas everyone , and thanks a lot for posting all the info and advice
on release, i am planning on being a mithra redmage, with different kind of subjobs, and as i am more interested in magic and stealth jobs then in frontline melee i thought mithra would be a nice choice, should i ever want to change my mainjob or to be able to switch to different jobs when pvp will be added (thief/ninja or ranger/sam)
after reading through all the posts, there are still some things unclear to me, or maybe i made some assumptions that are wrong, so any advice or correction would be much appreciated
1) the reason higher dex is better then higher str (hume vs mithra):
str effects how much damage you do on melee attacks, while dex gives you higher accuracy, so those should even out on damage total over time, but dex also gives you a higher crit chance and lowers the chance to recieve a crit from a mob, so when adding this into calculation you will do more damage (more crits) and take less damage (lesser crits taken) with a higher dex stat compared to a higher str stat
2) havent found any info about casttimes and duration of spells, so i am wondering how ranged (solo) combat works compared to standart mmorpgs, is it possible to nuke nuke paralyze nuke ....
and kill the mob without being touched or do the mobs at higher level just have too many hp for this to work?
3) red/rng and sidewinder
there were posts saying how much fun /rng is, but is it even possible to have sindewinder when subbing rng as it is a ws 175, and if at what level would you be able to get it; or did i just missunderstood and the combo would be rng/red then?
in theory, red/rng is a very nice combo, being able to cast haste and buffs on yourself in order to get tp fast, and damage output and hit chance shouldnt be too bad with a mithra , and you would be able to endmagic burst a renkai you have been involved in or even finished
4) blink spell
when looking at various databases the blink spell is not listed, just curious if we have that powerful spell in our books or not.
as it is a selfonly spell, it would only really help when soloing, or in pvp later i guess?
5) spellcasting and interrupts
when you are hit while preparing a spell, are you automatically interrupted? so you have to time your spells so the preparation is between the swings/casts of the mob?
the way i understand it is you have a chance for the spell to function even when you have been hit, your skill with the spell being cast and effects like aqua veil determine your chances
6) spellgathering
you are able to buy spells, but there are also mobs that drop spellscrolls? so basically, there isnt really the need to buy any scroll when hunting for those drops?
hopefully this hasnt been discussed somewhere else already, and thanks for advice and correction in advance
edit: just found a nice skill chart which has been translated (by Jei, thanks again for helping) , and according to it the redmage indeed is able to get sidewinder at lv 59, that makes my redmage/rng plan even more interesting hehe
