Enhancing Sword

Ok so now that I got RDM up to 60 I have started to scower the tons of sites and the AH in search of a new sword for a few lvl down tha road that could get me to 75 with Decent DMG while soloing. I currently have the Wise Wiz Anelace and I find that it works good for most soloing I do. Well the other day I saw the enhancing sword on Wiki for lvl 65 RDM. I was wondering if this sword is really worth the risk of trying to camp and then defeat Bune? I saw that he is lvl 80 which I don't think would be too much of a problem since I got a few 75 members in my LS that are willing to help, but the repop time is crazy. Is it really worth getting?

Drop rate is bad, too. Plus, it can be heavily camped.

One considerate to make before you ask LS members for help with that NM: Enhancing Sword is ~2.6 million on Ramuh. Would your LS members be better off with a share of that gil, or have you obtain the sword without paying anything for it?

I tend to think money drops should be sold and the profit split so everyone involved gets a little something. YMMV.

Well I do agree with you that if I had help getting a drop, we sell it and split the profit. But was wondering if it was worth using as RDM 65, is it worth the trouble of getting one?

Enhancing Sword is definitely one of the better RDM melee swords in the game, but if you're going to burn some linkshell brownie points to go after a weapon for your red mage at higher levels, you're much better off camping Charybdis for the 100% chance of Joyeuse.

Enhancing Sword is definitely one of the better RDM melee swords in the game, but if you're going to burn some linkshell brownie points to go after a weapon for your red mage at higher levels, you're much better off camping Charybdis for the 100% chance of Joyeuse.

Or just call a Thief or Ninja friend to solo tank it while you just haste/phalanx2/regen/enfeeble/heal
Its insanely easy to duo it and not many people seem to be camping it anymore.

Save the brownie points for bune, it being a wyvern and not a very nice drop rate.
Or work for Sea to get Justice Sword + organs for Virtue Stones..... mhmm Joyeuse + Justice Sword /drools

Heh my social LS got it for me no strings attached ^^ I had ToD and they felt sympathetic (my other LS outright refused to help me on 2 separate occasions when I had ToD. Static night or not, Charby's ToD ain't easy to get) and it should be noted that Joyeuse is a 100% drop.

Only thing about camping either sword is with Enhancing Sword, your friends will see dollar signs and every WAR, BRD, PLD, DNC and COR's ears will perk up if you mention you're camping a Joyeuse.

Personally, I think Joyeuse is wasted on BRDs and DRGs and a Ridill placeholder for WARs. PLD, COR, RDM and DNC will make far better long-term use of it. Sadly, the presence of a BRD or COR is practically requisite to help make the fight easier.

The only thing I generally use my Enhancing Sword for anymore is soloing as /DRK or /WAR, or for Dual Wield as /NIN. It really is a very nice sword, but in terms of actual DoT it's usually outperformed by the Joyeuse. The only reason I have an ESword is b/c a JP made a mistake on their bazaar and put it up for 1.4m when it cost 14m. Camping Bune is difficult, and the drop rate isn't too hot(I was 0/6 before I bought mine).

Until you can get a Joyeuse, the WW Anelace really is a good sword, otherwise in a couple of more levels the Wing Sword is quality as well.

Since you will be more then likeley solo, Mensur Epee (sp) is the best DoT sword for RDM until you get Excalibur or Justice/Joy combonation. The Epee changes its attack based on amount of people in the party so while solo it maxes at 49 damage. But if you want anything worthwhile, get the joyeuse, nothing compares to it. Use Epee/Joy, if you cant afford/obtain Blau or Excalibur, and/or Justice.

I would have totally sold it for the 14m. We're not talking about a K club here (which I know is worth more but is also infinitely more powerful in the hands of a well prepared DRK)

If you have sea and an hnmls, you're more likely to see a Justice Sword. Given three jobs that can use it, not likely a long wait in line. Excalibur, Mandau and Blau are not likely something every rdm would have so lets leave those out of the equation. Well, guess Blau can be if you can already get your paws on Enhancing. Personally though, I'd opt for dual weilding of Joy/Justice or one of those two with hornetneedle/blau for a solid DoT.

epee is much better than its given credit for, and if one dosent have dagger leveled blau is useless. Not everyone has a trip down to sea, and therefore justice is almost as out of reach as an excalibur. Excalibur is acctually very easy to come by, it just requires about 60 Million gil and a decent dyna shell for some drops. If you have both of these you can get it in 1-2 months.

As for the enhancing sowrd Its nice as a trophy. Also where is it 14 mil, I want a slice of that, ill transfer my char and sell it there for that price, most ive sold 1 for is 3 and ive put 4 through auction.
