Solo and Fun @ 75

Well, i've been playing FFXI for a long time, took a year off and came back a few months ago. Being w/o an endgame LS (Thats what happens when you leave for a year) I find my self bored running circles in Whitegate a lot. Before I quit I used to go the Castle Zvhal in Xarc to farm demons (thx grendal for that idea) it was somewhat of a challenge at the time, and also made some gil. However now demon horns are maybe 1/10th what they used to be and totally unfeasable to farm.

I'm curious what most of you RDM do for fun solo/gil. Money isn't much of an issue so I'm not out looking for uber gilz. I've considered trying to solo the bcnm's, esp. for kraken club, but I only have enough seals to do once or twice and then thats done. I know some people solo IMPs for merit points, but when i can just flag up and get a 15k+ tp burn, i don't see the point in soloing for merits. Is there anything us RDM's can do that was like farming demon horns back in the day? Something we can just spend a few hours soloing, having fun, making gil?

Do be aware that while the price on the horns have dropped, many items have dropped aswell, so for the most case, the whole economy scaled down, nothing much changed but the gil ammount.

Recently I went back to farming slime oil. All the while also killing the bats i see. Bat wings and slime oil. It adds up. Also take a shot at the morion worm, cant hurt.

I'm sorry, forgot to mention, even though you probably know the place I am talking about, Korroloka Tunnel.

I have been soloing Steelshells in the Boyahda Tree off and on as RDM/NIN for skill ups on Sword and Dagger. Didn't cap those, but managed to cap Enfeebling and and Evasion. >_>; Parrying went up a bit as well. Just a tiny bit, of course.

Got a lot easier once I reached RDM74 (in an exp party--then I returned to the Tree) and had Utsusemi: Ni to help out.

It was fun, and I'm impressed that even a so-so RDM like myself can handle T crab and a DC Thunder elemental at the same time. ^_^v

Not even one seal dropped, though; those crabs are stingy. Plus, I had to go through stacks and stacks of Shihei. Meh.

I've looked around a bit at the AU areas, there is some decent drops from some of the NM's in mamook and when i was there today they were up, no one going for them. They seem to be lvl 83, so gonna be a hard fight, anyone ever mess around in the AU areas?

I like to run up to sky every now and then when it's not too busy up there and solo some of the pop NM's like Faust, Zippy, SteamCleaner, Despot, Olla and Ulli. Some of them are quite the challenge, even for experienced soloers.

I usually donate the stones to LS, or get together with some friends and kill some of the gods in low numbers, but it seems so much harder to make gil now than it did before I went on a 7 month hiatus, I might start selling the stones. Probly could make some decent gil.
