    Re: wise braconi any good?

Wise gear doesn't suck. Not does Errant. Nor does AF. etc. They all have their places to be swapped in and swapped out. (ie. NEVER use Errant in melee!) For example:

    Elemental spells:
    Body: Errant Houppelande (+10 Int)
Legs: Jet Seraweels or Errant Slops (+7 Int)
    Hands: Errant Cuffs (+5 Int)
    Feet: Wise Pigaches (+4 Int)

    Enfeebles:
    Body: Warlock's Tabard (+15 Enfeebling)
Legs: Jet Seraweels or Errant Slops for +7 Int & +7 Mnd
Hands: Wise Gloves (+4 Mnd) / Errant Cuffs (+5 Int) depending on spell
    Feet: Wise Pigaches (+4 Int)

    Dark Spells:
    Hands: Warlock's Gloves (+10 dark)

    Healing:
    Body: Errant Houppelande (+10 Mnd)
    Legs: Warlock's Tights (+10 Healing)
    Hands: Wise Gloves (+4 Mnd)

    Stoneskin:
    Body: Errant Houppelande (+10 Mnd)
Legs: Jet Seraweels or Errant Slops (+7 Mnd)
    Hands: Wise Gloves (+4 Mnd)

    Melee:
    Body: Narasimha's Vest (+3Str, +3Vit, +4Acc & +4Eva)
    Legs: Anything except Errant Slops
    Hands: Wise Gloves (+3 Acc)
    Feet: Wise Pigaches (+2 Acc)

      Re: wise braconi any good?

I personally carry 3 sets of pants with me at all times: AF1, AF2, and Mahatma Slops.

Obviously noone will fault you for not having AF2 pants yet, I only use them for nuking IT+ mobs and casting elemental debuffs/spike spells.

Don't forget about your AF1 pants though! +15 Enhancing Skill is a big deal when casting your bar/enspell/phalanx, and the Enhancing mixed with the MND+ help your Stoneskin casts alot. At least swap them in when you cast the buffs. I personally wear these 90% of the time and only swap in other pants while nuking or debuffing endgame mobs.

Errant/Mahatma/Jet Serawheels otherwise are very good pieces for the INT/MND boosts.

Just ftr, the +10 dark from Warlock's gloves is Dark Resistance, not Dark Magic. Elemental resistance does not affect offensive spells. Crimson Finger Gauntlets are the swap piece of choice for casting Dark Magic.

Also, AF1 pants will do more for your Stoneskin than other pants from the combined Enhancing Skill and MND+

          Re: wise braconi any good?

You A) Spend 10k-60k on Wise Gloves, B) Spend 2-5k on Devottie's Mitts and get more MND C) Spend nothing and just farm AP for Yigit Gauges and get more MND as wells INT all in one nice neat package.

Wise Gloves were outdated before they were introduced.

Yigit feet also make Wise feet pretty useless. Its one less INT for enfeebles , but you get +2 MAB, which is better for nuking. Most RDM aren't going to melee anything over a T, so Ogre gear will do ya one better for our less than wonderful STR and Attack on Hands and Feet.

Correct. AF pants give you +15 Enhancing and +3 Mnd, whereas Jets give you +7 Mnd. The formula for Stoneskin is (Enhancing/3) + Mnd, thus, the AF1 pants increase your stoneskin by 8, whereas the the Jets or Errants increase it by 7.

              Re: wise braconi any good?

The *best* feet for nuking, if you have them, are Duelist's; their MAB will outperform any amount of INT you can find in a foot item. They're also not bad for MND based enfeebles, and even have a decent amount of +MP too. So I just wear them full-time and save my inventory and macro space for other gear slots.

Wise braconi might be good for HNM where getting the spell to stick in the first place is more important than how much MND you have backing it up. (Assuming you don't have Nashira, which does the same thing but much better.) They're also nice for Assault, where you may do some meleeing while also casting. In merit though, and in Dynamis/Limbus (except maybe bosses), you're probably better off with errant or jet.

                Re: wise braconi any good?

It boils down to the availability of items. Also, to the person that said just grind assault points for gear upgrades ... I'm assuming you have good gear in the first place to do assaults. Just FYI.

So... your upgrade options are actually only limited to three things:

                1. Availability of the item on the open market.
                2. Gil
                3. Availability of players to help you camp certain dropped items.

I have decent gear, but I usually go in with whatever I have on me. The assaults my set did for Yigit gear are mostly non-fighting assaults, save the Dispel-fest that is Lamia 13:

                  Yigit Turban: Lamia 13 (PFC)
Yigit Crackows: Evade and Escape (LC)
Yigit Gages: Breaking Morale (LC)/Double Agent(C)
                  Yigit Seraweels: Orichalcum Survey(PFC)/Counting Sheep(C)
Yigit Gomlek: Building Bridges(C) (my personal favorite, MGSing is fun)

Only real catch is that everyone started out at least SP. Order was Lamia->E&E->Breaking Moral(until all were C)/Double Agent->Orichalcum Survey/Counting Sheep/->Building Bridges. Good gear =/= good at non-combat assaults, other than Lamia 13/ O. Survey, you can do all these naked. Most of those 9 are just patience, attentiveness and luck (mining, gambling with Qiqirn)

                      Re: wise braconi any good?

I carry Wise Braconni, Duelist's Tights, Warlock's Tights, Yigit Seraweels, and Jet Seraweels for leg gear.

I use the Braconni for Drain/Aspir, Sleeps, Bind, Gravity, Poison II, and Silence. Nothing to boost dark magic in that slot except M. Acc items like the Braconni. And for those particular enfeebles, accuracy in landing on the first try is better than any boost from INT/MND (if any). Personally I don't think INT or MND have much effect on those particular spells. Also use on /BRD for Finale.

I use Wise Cap the same way since I have neither Crimson Mask nor Duelist's Chapeau. Also use on /BRD for Finale.

I use Chasuble for Drain/Aspir only. I used to use it on nukes before I got my skill up with merits and got AF2 pants. I still consider using it for nukes if I think I'll be nuking an HNM. Use it on /BRD for Finale.

Still Nashira Seraweels easily replace Wise Braconni. There's other gear to replace all the Wise M. Acc pieces either for enfeebling skill or for better levels of M. Acc, M. Acc with other magic skill and/or haste, M. Acc with MAB and/or INT/MND. Just hard to get. If your inventory allows, you can make good use of the some of the Wise pieces for your dark magic and the enfeebles I listed which are critical to land unresisted and not well-documented to have modification from MND or INT.
