  • Yet Another Maat Thread

    So Iv read all the posts, I know the strategy (I think ) and Iv seen the vids.

    The only thing I will ask here is, for you RDM's that have already beat him...

    What equip did you wear?

    Even better if you have super memory and can remember what kind of INT you had also.

    The strategy I am going to try first is the text book - now lets see how much I remember XD

    Eat food, enter BCNM
    Pro4, Shell4, SS, Phalanx, Blink, Yagado Drink
    Run to edge, Sleep II
    Dispel until buffs gone
    Bind
    Aero III
    Sleep II
    Run Away!!
    Repeat recast buffs where needed, until ~75-100MP
    Convert
    Repeat above
    Maat at 50% - Buff UP, Chainspell, Aero III

    Thats of course if I get no resists.....

    I decided that going on Darksday is more appropriate as a resisted sleep is far more deadly than a resisted Aero.

    Re: Yet Another Maat Thread

    While I havn't done the fight as rdm, I do recall it being said that you should run to the end of the ring to see what and how many buffs maat has up, that way you know how many times to dispell. Really only a difference of one dispell, but seeing as you're one of those yucky elvaans, you might need that MP later into the fight

      What I did

      ate pie before enter
      once enter, run up to maat right away and sleep 1.
      This strategy makes more sense to me, the slower you reach him, the more buff he has = more you need to dispel, or even worse he'll have blink that totally dodge your sleep.
      after sleep 1, I use yag drink and dispel him until no effects left.
      sleep 2 and buff myself up
      2hr Aero. MP around 100, sleep convert cure 4, stoneskin if needed, Aero some more.

      3 times I fought him for 3 characters I always win before 2hr runs out.

          Don't use Dia

          GL, rdm Maat sounds hard.

          You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

            Protect, Phalanx, and Shell are not necessary in this fight and cost precious MP. Stoneskin and Blink are the only buffs you need. Bring Yagudo Drinks, Super Ethers (I took 3), and a Vile Elixir, if you need it.

            Maat likes Blink. I opened my fight with Sleep I, which was conveniently blinked away. Paralyze and Gravity to strip his shadows, then I landed Sleep II. Dispel him dry, rebuff, Super Ether, nuke with Aero 3. Repeat until out of Super Ether, then Chainspell him down, I did not need to Convert or use the Elixir.

            I went on Windsday, and borrowed an Auster's Staff, and I got lucky on Windsday enhancements, though.

            Oh, and for food, I used Marron Glace for the extra MP.

              I like to fight him on darksday for more sleeping chance.

                BTW:

                INT = 58+19
                MND = 66+22

                  Stack as much enfeeble and INT as you can for sleep. Especially Elvaan, you need all the INT you can. Recommend Melon Pie +1

                    Wow, I think 58 int is the base Int of my level 1 taru pup. You elvaans sure are gimp in the int department. >.>;;

                    For food, may I suggest a Taru? There are a few that I wouldn't mind seeing go away for a while.

                    There's also an Int potion that I've heard can be usefull. Wiki does not say that it gives medicated status, so it should be safe to use and not stop you from using any other meds.

                    I'd loan you my HQ's but alas we're on different servers. That and the fact that I'm trying to keep the Elvaans down. Good luck.

                      I didn't use HQ staves. I did have an enfeebling torque and that made me feel better about my debuffs.

                      Cap your enfeebling magic and elemental magic before you go.

                      Gear: I wore full AF except a Blue cotehardie (swapped in for nukes) for a bit of extra INT. Staff was switched in and out, depending. Phantom Tathlum, Enfeebling Torque, Phantom Earring, Moldavite Earring (MAB rocks!), Zircon and Aquamarine rings, Red Cape, Shaman's Belt.

                          I was joking of course, had just thought of the Int Potion and wanted to comment on that. Him mentioning his base int reminded me of that.

                          Anyways, good luck on Maat.

                            Yeah, Elvaan are gimp for Int. But then Taru are gimp for Mnd.

                              I used a Crimson Jelly for food for this fight - +6 int +80 mp cannot be sneezed at as an Elvaan - pricy, but worth it. Don't worry about pro, Shell maybe, but SS and Blink are most important. Elvaan Vit does count for something here.

                              Whatever you do, don't try to silence him. It just turns him into a mean old monk with attitude and access to Asuran Fists (btw, as an Elvaan you CAN survive it - I don't know if any other race than Galka can survive it - I certainly did).

                              Have a remedy or two with you - he used Paralyze on me, and (assuming you can get the damn thing down you) it will take it off.
