They would. But I suppose conspiracy theorists could claim that he .dat hacks them out.

I suppose you could actually edit the icons out if you were that insane and tedious about lying. However, editing the PT box in the bottom righthand corner would not be so difficult.

But icons don't account for cures at any rate and given how Avesta would sometimes speed up a video to capture a whole fight, you couldn't really say for certain if someone was on the outside curing him or not.

Tonko is also a quick spell to cast, so anyone curing from the outside could easily be hidden when a camera pans away.

It's entirely possible given all the other things you could alter in the HUD right now.

Seems highly unlikely though. The simplest explanation is generally best.

People use windower plugins for all manner of things. I'm strictly PS2, but I've seen screen caps of altered text fonts and things of that nature.

I'm aware. But that has nothing to do with the point I made. It seems highly unlikely that all this time would have passed and no one would have noticed that he's a cheating cheater who cheats.

Unless provided with hard evidence otherwise, I'm inclined to believe his videos are legit, because that's the simpler answer.

I watched Avesta's soloing ODS and his Come into my Parlour. Nothing illigit there... Genuine soloing.

Conspiracy theories only go so far.

Re: Avesta the great Red Mage

I always thought Avesta's fights were computer generated because using a live Taru was too risky.

The mobs are usually elvaans in disguise and Avesta is inserted via blue screen, with the elvaan walking in a miniature version of the area to appear bigger.

(Although Rapido was in fact Ajido in a Cactuar disguise making a cameoish appearence)

I think next movie will be about Avesta vs a bunch of aliens, he will kill them using Virus but the fight will take like 3 days, so it'll be a 72 hr-long movie.

Which may or may not include an special appearence by Kiefer Sutherland as the RNG/NIN trying to stop a bunch of Orcs wanting to detonate a Goblin bomb in Chateau d'Oraguille.

Isn't Avesta also on PS2? S/he doesn't even use shortcut key combos to activate macros--I think s/he operates mostly with a controller.

Re: Avesta the great Red Mage

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Avesta is a PS2 player. On some older videos you can actually see the interlacing leftover from a bad capture, iirc.

If you're determined not to believe, I suppose you could still suggest that the captured video was edited to cut out outside cures and the like, but songs or rolls being hidden seem unlikely.

And yeah, he did used to use a lot of cuts in his videos where the mob would skip down in life, but usually he would provide a long sample of his kiting strategy to show how he was dealing damage and staying alive, basically to show that it's possible, then skip to the kill. Lately he's just been increasing the framerate of the videos to keep them at a reasonable length, so you get to see the whole fight uninterrupted. Cuts are still technically possible I suppose, but I haven't noticed any suspicious hiccups personally.

I believe he does it legitimately. I know my own capabilities, and having watched a lot of the videos it's plausible to me that someone a notch or two ahead of me in skill and several notches ahead of me in gear and merits could pull off what I've seen.

Edit: Oh, but .. this isn't to say he's entirely straight as an arrow either. I don't remember which ones, but a couple of his solos have been challenged for their validity because of visible helpers keeping links off him and the like. That's why some of us were impressed when in the Charybdis solo he kited back and forth past a visible aggressive mob. He just stepped around its aggro range, as if to show that he didn't really need any help. It humanizes him to show that he's grown in skill and style like that, imo. Just makes him more impressive to me.

I suppose Bigfoot is real, then, just because we have footage of it. No, totally not a man in hairy suit obscured by a poorly-focused camera, that is a bonafide sasquatch, no doubt. The man said so. That's the simplest answer.

There's a haunted Wizard of Oz figurine on Ebay, only 40 Mins left til its gone. Must be true because the guy selling it said so.

Its very easy to slap a transparancy where a buff icon would be if you know how to alter the .DATs, PS2 or PC. He might have totally soloed them, its entirely possible. But its also possible he didn't, so don't be a total sheep.

I'd only believe it if I could see it firsthand, not by video.

Re: Avesta the great Red Mage

When it comes down to it, you can't necessarily believe things you see with your own eyes. Cyril sticks his hand through the glass wall of an aquarium surrounded by witnesses. Do the people standing there believe it's real magic? Nah, they probably know it's a trick of some kind; it's just too implausible.

This stuff seems believable enough to me that it would be a waste of my time to analyze it looking for fault. If I'm not going to make certain of an answer, there's no point in me even questioning, so I just accept it as true.

For all I know everything I see and feel every day could be an illusion, but it's just not worth doubting.

Then how can you know for sure what the Matrix is, Taskmage?

But that doesn't mean he is the ultimate RDM or anything like that...
Everyone knows that it's Grendal. May we move on?

                            And change the thread title.

                            "Grendal, the Invincible RDM"

I like that a lot better.
