    All spells naturally complete at 80% on the spellcasting bar even with no Fast Cast traits. With the -15% from traits + AF1 hat, that drops it to 65% which is what you're seeing.

    On WHM75 I have -20% Cure casting time in merits, and my cures take effect at 60% on the casting bar. With Cure Clogs I'm down to about 45% (hard to tell for sure, but it's really, really fast).

      Nope, a RDM with Fast Cast III and Chapeau will always cast at 50%, that's a 30% reduction, with Duelist you cast at 40% (with a 15% and 20% reduction on recast times respectively).

      Fast Cast works different from Casting time merits, casting time is a direct reduction on casting time only, Fast Cast is a reduction in both Cast and Recast times, Fast Cast bonus for casting is twice the amount of that of Recast.

        Interesting. I'll have to check my casting percentages on RDM, but something doesn't sound right here. I remember I tested out Cure IV as WHM with Cure Clogs (0% Fast Cast -35% cast time) versus a RDM75 with full AF1/2 (Fast Cast III + 2 pieces of Fast Cast AF) and came up consistently ahead on WHM.

        I also remember distinctly testing Cure Clogs + WHM75/RDM37 (Fast Cast II) + max cure speed merits and not getting better than about 45% cast speed, so there may be a cap there somewhere, since that "should" have put me at 80% - 15% - 20% - 15% = 30%, and it was nowhere close to that.

        I'll do some testing tonight if I can find some time to log on and post back some results.

          You also have to consider there must be a cap on Casting time reduction, I dunno if there is one or what's the max % you can lower your casting time, but there should be.

          Max recast time cut is 50% according to Wiki so that would mean 100% casting time reduction (Chainspell) and I doubt anyone can get that without using the 2hr. So a cap must be there somewhere.

          If, the cap is 40-45% then something like the Loq Earring would be kinda useless for a RDM with Duelist's. Because you would only be able to lower your Recast time but not your casting time since you already hit the cap for that.

            I wouldn't make it a priority, but something to get "in time." After finishing up AF1+1 upgrades (PLD feet and body), then getting other 75-coin items I wanted (Boxer Mantle and Brutal Earring), I got Loq. Earring next. I usually use it when tanking as PLD/NIN or PLD/RDM (last two Jailer of Love fights), and I am trying it out as a macro piece when casting Utsusemi as WAR/NIN.

              I do already have everything else from Limbus that I was going for, (Boxer, Brutal, AF+1 feet) but I think I will aim for upgrading my AF body, and then get the earring if I earn enough later. Btw, I am jealous of your Bahamut's Mask Onorok!

                It's not incredible or anything, but +30 mp can find its way into many spells to moderate loss of mp at the top of your mp pool when switching from max mp gear to more spell-specific gear, and of course convert. Works great for a soloing macro bar on any self-cast spells like Stoneskin, Haste, Cures, Utsusemi, Regen, Stun, etc.

                For instance self-target spells <me> will benefit from equipping Fast Cast gear first in the macro, then they get cast speed and recast. If equipped after the cast, they only get recast benefit. If target is not <me> <lastst> or <bt> then swapping before casting will cause a blink where targeting will be lost and the benefit to cast speed enhancement, while there, will be delayed a second by the blink preventing you from acquiring target in order to cast, making it pointless.

                I no longer bother with +MND or +INT earrings. I stick to +skill and Magnetic. I feel once I get Loquacious that it will make it into roughly 1/3-1/2 of the macros on any given casting bar, likely more on my solo bar where my refresh, haste, and cure macros can be <me> instead of <stpc>.

                I'd even use it on my MNK for Utsusemi macros, though the effect would be marginal.




                Why not INT or MND earrings? 3 skill to 1 or 2 stat. Its the same ratios as most other slots where you can trade accuracy for potency. Enfeeebling Torque for Promise Badge, 7 skill to 5 mnd. AF body to Errant, 15 skill to 10 MND/INT. Wise/Elite to Yigit Turban, 4 or 5 skill/m.acc to 4 mnd. Merciful cape to Prism, 5 skill to 4 MND/INT. Nashira Legs to Mahatma, 5 skill to 8 MND/INT.

                As you can see, some slots offer a better tradeoff than a 3/2 ratio. BUt many offer both INT and MND in equal amounts, wheras you'd have to carry 2 stat earrings. I'd rather reduce inventory by not carrying INT/MND earrings and getting those stats by trading out other slots when I'm not concerned about enfeeble accuracy, like head and neck, where I can get +9 MND and only lose 7 skill and 5 m.acc. Also, having full mp merits and nice mp items like hedgehog bomb and loquacious, make it very likely not to eat Maron Glace, but instead use Goblin Mushpots (+85 mp vs +10 MND) and still keep 1:1 convert ratio.

                Also, since enfeebles are cheap on mp, and with exceptions of para and slow, stat is not so important, I could use loquacious instead of magnetic coupled with Enfeebling Earring, for instance on bind, gravity, or sleeps just slight improvement to recast.
