  • Soloing 5-1

I did a search and all apple pie's movies are all gone. I'm wanting to try this and apple pie didn't post his strategy, only movies. I'm wondering if anyone still have those movies around and can send or upload one for me? Also any strategy for this BC are welcome too.

so basicly, boost up attack and kill the smaller skeletons first? I read that thread too but that's about what I could figure out of it. He didn't really say much about what he does inside the BC.

Buff to full outside, sneak once in the BC. Get in position, then Chainspell and Fire II the two ancient sorceror's to death. Kill off the lesser skeletons after you're done with them and move on the the archlich, switching target to the smaller skeletons when they come up. Keep Phalanx, Blaze Spikes, Enfire, and Dia II on. I don't remember if he kept any other buffs up. I'll upload the video later after I get an ftp client installed again.

He took advantage of the fact that you can keep your buffs going into the arena. He Chainspell/Fire II'd the two smaller skeleton mages at the beginning, and geared heavily for +ATK with /DRK so he could one-shot the smaller skeletons.

I suspect the battle is a bit easier now than when he did it, since there's a lot more good lower level items that are available.

I also suspect that RDM/BLU can probably destroy this battle with ease using Bludgeon (3 hit arcana spell that does blunt damage against undead enemies? Wowsers. )

Bloodgeon! D: hmmm I'll have to give that a try

So buffs like Phalanx and Stoneskin won't go away when I enter the BC? That should make things a lot easier hmm....

Nope, the update way back when only removes buffs for the beastmen and kindred seal bc's, and I think the CoP missions.

Just did this mission on last Friday, I confirm that all buff will carry thru ^^)V. I put on blink, stoneskin and phalanx (as well as protect and shell IV from white mage) and all buff go in with me to the BC. I soloed one of the ancient sorcerer to lessen the load on the tank =P. Its attack did not break thru my stoneskin at the end of the BC XD.

Its very good idea to go in as Rdm/blu, Icemage, plus the fact that we have another JSE body (well brd/rdm) which will boost our offensive ability.

Will bloodgeon do full damage as 50Rdm/25Blu?

Cerise Doublet. Attack and acc +3.

Bludgeon's damage is based on your blue magic skill, I believe, so no, it wouldn't do full damage.

Bludgeon will not do full damage until you're lv 30ish, except you have full blue magic merits.

That's the thing though - Bludgeon doesn't need to be at its damage cap to be useful in this case.

Reference this thread posted by Armando a while ago where he tested out PLD60/BLU30:
                            http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/pal...-theories.html

In particular if you look at the attachments, look at these numbers for his level 30 Blue Magic skill against a level 61+ Lesser Colibri:
                            Armando - The Lesser Colibri(2)
                            Melee Damage: 49, 42, 49, 49, 34, 52, 43, 52, 49, 49, 49, 32, 43, 55, 49, 43, 34, 56, 49, 57, 41, 35, 38, 47, 58, 53, 49, 40, 49, 34, 49, 39, 59, 39, 40, 49, 49,
                            Critical Damage: 74, 106, 75,
WeaponSkills: 217 (Vorpal Blade), 261 (Vorpal Blade),
Spells: 46 (Head Butt), 20 (Head Butt), 23 (Head Butt), 28 (Head Butt), 57 (Head Butt), 46 (Head Butt), 16 (Head Butt), 37 (Head Butt), 84 (Bludgeon), 19 (Head Butt), 109 (Bludgeon), 45 (Head Butt), 57 (Bludgeon), 30 (Head Butt), 93 (Bludgeon), 58 (Head Butt), 70 (Bludgeon), 62 (Head Butt), 78 (Bludgeon),
I realize that you'll only be /BLU25 in this BC, but you're also getting the +25% damage boost from it being Blunt damage, plus whatever perks you get for using an Arcana attack against Undead.

hmm aproximately 80-100 damage for 16 MP. Might work even better with chain spell compare to fire 2. Fire II cost 68MP, I can't really remember how much damage it does. around 200?
