It was my understanding that both piercing and slashing weapons suffered the same penalty vs. undead and that only Bludgeoning weapons were allowed the normal damage. Of course this is just nth-hand information rather than anything I've either read data on or experimented with myself.

Also note that I specified that the dagger be preferable in a team situation rather than solo. For solo, lots of things change--for instance, saving 200% TP may not be viable. If it is not viable, then Circle Blade would be more appropriate by a small margin.

      http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Damage_Types

This page lists the damage multipliers for skeletons as 1.125 for blunt, 0.75 for slashing, and 0.5 for piercing.

The skeletons that come in are weak. I believe I remember reading somewhere that they only have 48 hp.

In a team situation, make gratuitous use of banish. Not only is tier 1 Banish sufficient to oneshot the warrior skeletons that come in, but landing a banish spell on the archlich increases the damage multipliers for slashing and blunt damage to 1.0 for a certain amount of time.

Solo-ing 5-1 is a piece of cake. There is a myriad of options you can use to go against the skeles in the battle.

I happened to use a Hornetneedle, Def-food, good def-gear + HP, warrior sub, hi pots, mp pots, and used full buffs while in the BC.

I CS'nuked the crap out of Annoying Skele A and meleed B, then Meleed Archlich. Getting pounded by all the skeles in a group proved futile on their part while I had buffs up. I had to time my Convert very carefully was my greatest concern.

The BC is easy if you go prepared. -shrugs-
