Re: A shout out to Taskmage

It is worth adding though that we had not ever banded together against Charybdis before (although yes, I have had some experience with Charybdis prior to this, Lago probably has as well). In fact, I don't think either of us ever partied together at all prior to this XD

One of the RDMs that I was camping Joyeuse for just so happened to know Lago and had him on her friend list, and since I knew him from this forum and I knew him not to be some random idiot RDM, I had her ask to try to bring him down here.

You bring up an interesting story though, which I'll try to remember to post later tonight after I get home from work >_>

Re: A shout out to Taskmage

It bums me out that "not some random idiot rdm" is way too long to be a forum title.

Really, me getting that tell was pretty serendipitous for both of us. I was just wondering the last time I was idling in that room whether two good rdms could pull off the job that one uber rdm was able to do, and a couple days later I get a tell asking me to try just that. Had it been some random idiot rdm you asked to bring their gimp blu sub and try to duo Charybdis they'd probably have roffled at you and there's be a lot less Joy between us. X3

Re: A shout out to Taskmage

Oyy, I got so busy during the weekend I didn't get to post like I said I would. >_>

IT would suck to spend so much time finding ToD, camping and then claiming only to lose it if something happens in the final 2% and you're not readily prepared for it...
Something like this happened to me before, only it happened during the first 2% >_>

I was camping along with a THF friend, hoping to get Joyeuse for his COR. We had been down there for nearly 6 hours, with a seemingly idle PLD standing by nearly the whole time. We were fighting a sahagin (trying to pop Zuug the Shoreleaper for the 4th time that night, RMTs were lazy apparently) when unexpectedly, Charybdis pops. To my dismay, the THF makes a rush for Charybdis and claims it while we're still fighting the sahagin. According to him, he said he saw the PLD move so he wanted to claim it immediately. I don't have any reason to doubt what he said, but his actions still didn't do much good for us; because with both Charybdis and the sahagin beating up on him, it didn't take more than a minute for the THF to drop, me going along with him soon after.

Note to all you other eager peoples out there; a lone PLD cannot keep Charybdis claimed forever, and most of them (the smart ones, anyway) will not even bother trying. I doubt they can do it even if they had Crimson pants; the area is just not wide open enough. Don't be intimidated by a lone PLD camping, which is a common sight at the Charybdis camp. A lot of times, they are just AFK getting a ToD. (This PLD wasn't AFK, but several others have been during my many camps. )

Anyway I refused to let that camp be a total waste, so I told him to stay there, while I home pointed. (In retrospect, it would have been smarter to have both of us home point, but that was my best attempt to make a cool/calm decision in a moment of crisis >_>) Here I started to make haste. I HP'd back to Whitegate, grabbed a silver coin, warped to Windy, OP warped to Yuhtunga, noticed a BLM/RDM/WHM friend in LS and asked if he could bring his WHM down while I ran to SSG, ran to Norg, switched to /BLU and grabbed a tank food, met up with WHM in SSG, opened the gold beastcoin door for him, and made it back down to the camp right as the PLD's reinforcements were starting to arrive. Charybdis was still floating there alone and unclaimed. I hit it with Bind and started to buff myself up while the WHM Raised the THF. I kited Charybdis around solo while the THF rested weakness.

Around 2 minutes into it I got a rather unpleasant sounding message from the other party's BRD, saying that he was gonna be calling a GM on me for mob holding. I didn't respond to this at all, I didn't want to give the GM more of a reason to Mordion Gaol me in case one was watching. Instead I just added Poison/Bio into my repertoire to give the impression that I WAS in fact doing some damage. >_> In the meantime I told the THF to start fighting immediately once his weakness wore and got full-healed by the WHM.
Longest 5 minutes evar, but his weakness eventually dropped, got a Cure 5, and the THF jumped back into the fray. This time around we handled it without any problems, and Charybdis was taken down.

Maybe the THF's Corsair was also there in spirit rooting us on (no doubt because he wanted that Joyeuse), because we certainly got lucky there. XD

Maybe you could fit it in your bazaar/seacom sometime. ;D

Pfft, anything Avesta could solo I bet we could duo. We should totally go and try Bune next. Or how about that Cactrot Rapido? >_> XD

But yeah, let me know if you need another RDM for any of your Charybdis camps, because I owe ya ;D You've probably finished /NIN by now, I was wondering if we could try it using that sub instead to see if it's any easier. I'm thinking that as a duo it could be the decidedly better sub, due to there being less stress on a lone RDM's Utsusemi timers.

Re: A shout out to Taskmage

Intresting, so what does this mean I can't have fun with Taskmage's name now? And I just figured which he seems to fit in the Magic group. >.>

Someone want to put Rimewind in front of his name.

Now to find someone that fits Jaya Ballard. >.>
