  • Kindly share your experience on solo Limbus

My LS will do Limbus once a week and there leave one weekday for me to venture more into this area to farm ancient coins. I wonder if any of you have experience on solo Limbus as Rdm/nin or other subs, notably the SE Apollyon and the Temenos - Western Tower are my potential target.

Do you all have any experience sharing on this aspects? I under the NM dropping the required card can be slept and soloed, if you have experience on that, please give advise.

There is also one "Restore" chest whereby 2 hrs can be restored as well. So basically if my desire to reaching the item chest of 1st floor (i.e. last mob, I guess), how should I best time my chainspell and convert?

My thanks for potential input and discussions in advance =) m(_ _)m

Re: Kindly share your experience on solo Limbus

While I have not experienced this first hand, I will happily give you the second hand info I know about RDMs soloing Limbus, plus what I know about going with my LS.

First off all, Melee is a no go. Esp., in SE Apollyon. I do have first hand experience for the reason why. They hit you like a fully loaded train. 1 hit alone will pretty much kill a RDMs stoneskin. Their attack speed is pretty decent, even with Slow II on. With our awesometastic D evasion, there will be few evaded attacks, and an SH+O hat won't make up for it. Add to it, their 7k HP, RDM just doesn’t have enough physical "oomph" to kill a lot in the 30 min. Not to mention Fluid Spread could flat out kill you.

In Temenos W, the mobs don't hit as hard, but Tigers can triple attack (maybe that’s just Byakko) +Claw Cyclone+Roar and have pretty low delay. On the second floor you have mandies, which have Auto-Double attack, plus every memory of the Jungles to come back and haunt you. I've seen one drop a MNK with a Dream Flower sleeping everyone. The MNK/NIN lasted maybe 1 min after that.

If you want to solo Limbus, you're going to have to manaburn it. Oddly enough, Apollyon NW (yes the Kings Apollyon) is the best one for RDMs to solo in terms of coinage. Everything save Pluto, Steelfleecewannabe, Miniaspi, and KB Jr is sleep able. (yes even the Ghosts and Fafy). The regular Behe do resist sleep to high holy hell, but they CAN be slept. Bind+Gravity are best for them. Since most everything you'll be fighting can be slept, /NIN is pretty much useless. /BLM nets you extra int, MP and ES for those random 1/100 chance.

    Mode of attack:
1st Floor: Ghosts and Doomed (Pluto). Using Thunder III (ghosts resist ice it seems), Sleep Nuke ghosts until the portal opens up. Grab as many time chests as you can, though be careful as Pluto roams near one. Zone into next floor. (Sleep any extra that aggro, they sleep perfectly fine without ES).

2nd Floor: Buffalo and Ram (Zlatorog). As with the last floor, Sleep/Nuke Buffalo until the portal opens up. Grab the 3 time chests (should be easy with careful maneuvering) and restore chest, then zone into next floor. A Buffalo roams near the portal so keep a heads up. Buffalo run really really fast, so you'll probably only have time to get off one nuke before they get to you as you sleep them.

3rd Floor: Bugbard and Aspi (Millenary Mossback). Who paired these 2 types of mobs up. Anyway. Lather rinse repeat. Sleep/Nuke until portal opens, open time chests, restore chest, then go to the next floor. Bugbard do hit hard and have a stun WS, so be careful. The one time chest behind Miniaspi can be opened without aggroing Miniaspi, if you hug the wall in front of it and go around that way. If it does aggro, Bind+Gravity, then zone or log out.

4th Floor: Wyvern+Wyrm (Cynoprosopi). The floor you have worked for, well one of them at least. There are 5 Wyvern, each automatically drops 2 coins. If you have ever soloed your own Wyvern skull (not fun D: ), then you should know that A) Radiant Breath is like death vomiting on you B) Dread shriek is just as bad. Echo drops+Remedy (or Remedy Ointment), a stack of each just incase. Fang Rush and Dread Dive can be taken by gimpy blink, but it+Stoneskin should keep you alive. Again, Sleep/Nuke until all 5 are dead, then carefully get time chests and restore chest. If fafy aggros ES+Sleep II, gravity and port up or log out.

5th Floor: Behe+KB (Kaiser Behemoth). Another great floor for coins, but there’s a catch (always is). Kaiser Behe walks around the circle the whole time, so you only get a tiny little area to kill the regular Behe. And remember, sleep can stick, but it’s not very likely. Gravity+Bind kill on the regular Behe. Each one will drop 5-6 coins. Should you aggro KB, bend down, put your head between your legs and kiss your sweet ass goodbye (sorry for swearing, but it goes with the line). In all seriousness, you can out run KB while its casting Meteor, but that’s pretty much all you can do.

With skill and a little luck (esp. on the last floor) you should walk out with 20+ish coins. Item chests are only spawned from killing the boss. Pluto is really the only feasible one you can kill (see below incase you want to press your luck), but its only going to get you 1 AF+1 item and 2 coins.

For the really daring (or stupid, they can go hand in hand) you can try to solo fauxFafy. You can Gravity kite it (maybe, hard to tell since no one ever kites a Wyrm), you can sleep it (but pretty much only with ES), but make it turn too fast and you'll end up on wrong end of its tail, with giant spikes impaled in you. Wouldn't that be something!

With enough time, KB can be kited, and DoT’d and occasional nuked to death. Bio II is 100% DoT and Poison II can stick. But it takes a long long time, probably up to 30 min, which is very unlikely to be left on your clock sadly .

Gear wise, a nuking set, an enfeebling set and an HMP set.

As for Temenos locations, Temenos E is your best bet. Killing Eles 1 at a time, /DRK would be handy for Stuns on -aga III spells. They all have an en-status effect (fire->plague, Ice-Para etc etc), so getting hit can be a bad thing. Best to do that one with a buddy to bounce hate and lower your chances of being hit. Kill eles until 2 Treasure chests pop (or Time, screw restore for this one), play a fast game of enimineemieneemo and hope you didn't open the avatar chest. If you do, see section on Apollyon NW 5th floor. Mimic actions taken if you aggroed KB.

As I said at the top, none of the solo info in first hand knowledge (all second hand), but the extra info is taken from personal experiences with my LS. I'm personally planning on trying this soon (I cannot go to LS Wed runs due to work), but we'll see how good FFXII is first. Hope I answered any questions.

EDITed for Spelling, Grammer and all that jazz.
