    QFT. This pisses me off. I mean come on, S/E! We USE our staves! ALL THE TIME!

    The Divine magic thing isn't such a big bother to me, seems stupid but doesn't really hinder me at all. But in order to significantly level staff to the point where it will be worthwhile to actually swing it (like when soloing and casting), I have to level one of my other mage jobs high up. And I have plans to do that, but that doesn't help my staff skill in the present.

    GIVE RDMS STAFF SKILL S/E!!!!

      I seem to remember reading a rumor that Dia used to be Divine Magic during FFXI's early development (makes sense since Bio, it's elemental opposite, is Dark Magic), and Dia is RDM's first spell at level 1.

      Also, I think Banish used to be castable by RDMs at some point.

      I don't think giving RDMs Staff skill is a good idea. Staff WS aren't terribly impressive to begin with, with the single exception of Spirit Taker (which RDMs don't really need).

      The real problem is that elemental staves are too strong. There's really no excuse to use any other weapon as a mage after level 51 if you're interested in landing your spells. Giving RDMs Staff skill doesn't address this problem - it just unbalances the game by introducing a bandage for the real issue.

        Well see, the problem is, for those of us who have no other mage job significantly leveled, the staff skill is a big problem. I'm a level 60 RDM, and my staff skill is at 40. Skilling it up with either my WHM or my BLM is not really viable right now, because they're not exactly invincible.

        I don't care if we get the weapon skills, quite honestly, but I would like for us to be able to skill up with that weapon. Even if we had an "F" skill level in it, to me that would still be better than nothing at all.

          My problems with our Divine skill with no Divine spell and staff use with no native skills is simply completion. Sure we don't really NEED staff skill or Banish, but the having one and not hte other just bothers me.

          Just a preference thing.

            I think I can /pld and go join skill up parties for divine skill. Not really much purpose for it tho.

              On the subject of weapons ... how does dual wielding low, low delay daggers fare (with the proper en-spells?)

              Although sword WSs are still generally better and a 300% charge with Spirits Within is probably the best a RDM can muster...

                I hear many good things about dagger-wielding for RDMs now, because of the DMG/Delay rebalancing and the change to Evisceration.

                  I suppose I have a hard-on for useful Divine skill simply for the possibilities given when pairing a RDM with Banish1/2's special effects.

                  But I digress...

                  Back on subject, I never used daggers before the update, so I really can't compare on how the modifications have gone. However, a full HP/TP Spirits Within isn't the best a RDM can muster, I feel. I've done Savage Blade for nearly 600 damage(and looking to do better when I merit MND/STR).
