If it never occured to you that you have to buy spells in this game(as evidenced in the Black Magic/White Magic/Summons/Songs/Ninjutsus portion of the AH, or various spell scrolls dropped off mobs), then maybe you should stay away from RDM.

Take a pickaxe to a mining spot, get ore. Use the money from the ore and buy fish.

Man all of you guys should chill a cycle, there's a good chance someone who has never played a MMOG and has only played a few FF could think spells would be learnt automatically as you level up.



OP, spells, songs, ninjutsu, corsair rolls and others are learned by using the proper item if you are high enough to learn them (Scroll, dice etc.).

Mystery has a nice list of spells and abilities and the levels you can learn them (check the spells section under database), it also has the list of places where you can get them. Some are bought from shops, others are drops from mobs and battlefields and others are rewards from quests.

As a RDM you wont have to get many expensive spells, but you gotta consider the spells from your subs when you plan your expenses.

Honestly, I don't think we were that harsh. I mean, the spells are available for purchase. He understood this fact, bought spells, and learned them that way. But for some reason he still thought that he should be learning them automatically. The lack of critical thinking there was pretty disappointing. All things considered, we could have been far harsher.
