    Re: Question on AF longevity

I personally hate slops of all kinds. But I can see how they might be an improvement, depending upon your race.

I saw a Galka in full Errant the other day. He looked...awkward. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of Errant.

I don't wear the tarbard for soloing because of its +enfeeble, I wear it so I can cast easily without worring about getting interupted. Its let me tank Avatars, solo my SMN AF quests, twice and keep up stoneskin with 3 Chigos pounding the crap out of me. RDM solo is an endurace fight and imo the better the chance you have of recasting things, the better chance you have of winning. However this is my opinion and I have no right to force you to change yours.

To sum up everything, most RDMs will aggre that you will never retire your Chapeau and Tabard as long as you play the job.
No, I mean when they're actually doing they're job. If I see one running around in a city, I won't think anything. But if one shows up to dynamis (lvl 75, mind you), in full AF, I wonder if he really understands the game, or, barring that, cares.

I think a patchwork looks better. After awhile, the full AF set just got boring to me. I like the way af hat, body, and the rest being errant (hands, legs, feet) looks.

edit: Slops are cool. They're like Hammer-pants.

My friend used to point and laugh at me when she'd catch me wearing slops. Then she'd call me on the phone to laugh some more.

haha. Next time that happens, just say, "STOP-....hammer time."

I don't know why but I really like the errant/rdm AF combo. It's like a frumpy, magey type thing. Maybe it doesn't work for elvens, I don't know, but for humes it works (at least to me).

Before I was 72, I was wearing the AF legs, hat and body with marine M Gloves and rse boots. Now, that looked crappy, but I think it was offset because it showed I cared about my job. I was also bored by the full af by the time I got the marine M gloves.

edit: yeah, the one piece of errant I really don't like is the body. Maybe it looks better with the errant hat, I wouldn't know (nor does any other rdm, I would imagine).

I prefer the look of Wise to Errant.

Never will I advocate this because I believe if you're going to do a job do it as best you can, but a RDM can go from AF to 75 with never buying anything for the 5 main equipment slots. None of the pieces are so bad, and with so little gear before giving that much of a boost before AF, just the Body and Hat will make you feel like things are going so much better.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

ummm..ok, but I was replying to Aeni, then summing up the previous posts for the OP. But whatever floats your boat.

For some reason I quoted your post. I was actually responding to:

Full AF looks better then a patchwork of gear. Since you will have some AF pieces on you means that you can't store it. You might as well wear it all and look good when it doesn't really matter.

Yes, it does IMO. But errant does not look great in my eyes anyway.

Talking about look ... what do peoples like so much in the look of RDM AF hat ?

I dont even look at the stats wich I think are mostly pointless most of the time.

This whole thing makes me remember when I was lvling on sky weapons with the errant hat on. Some peoples though it was an OH then said that the ennemity - was not needed, until they got the point of not being able to take hate back from me with voke. ( pull a mob, sleep it, bomb cure the **** who dont use shadows and you will have hate for a while if melees dont WS at start )

This is the problem I got when duo'ing robber crabs with a 74 WHM friend last night. With all the -enmity gear that cat had on, I couldn't get the robber crab to stop beating on me when recasting Stoneskin (Yes, my sig is updated, I am level 64 RDM). If the fight dragged on too long, I'd accumulate enough hate that a WS or flash from my WHM friend would only turn the crab for about 2 hits ... I learned to time my casting and made sure I had my AF Gloves on when I do recast SS ...

I wish you didn't need an entire set to store but the ability to store armor is better than none...

For partying to the end what would I need for RDM? AF hat, body, legs, errant body, elemental staves... I don't know what I'd need for rings, earrings, belt, feet... and all other unlisted equip.

                          Re: Question on AF longevity

Required? Not much. AF body. A moderate amount of +MND gear. A set of elemental staves.

If you're talking about performing well, though, you'll want some +MP gear (and maybe some +HP if you're Taru as well) to help with Convert, Errant body/legs/feet (which are all very good for RDM if you lack better pieces of gear). Nothing outlandish or terribly expensive.

To be the best you can be, you'd need some really rare and expensive stuff like Enfeebling Torque, Vermillion Cloak/Dalmatica, Hedgehog Bomb, Tamas Ring, etc., but that's true of any job.
