    Re: RDM endgame question

If you truly are aiming to be a "versatile" RDM, you should consider leveling up subjobs that can enhance various aspects of a RDM. For example, RDM can skill up Divine Magic skill, but they do not possess any divine magic capability. WHM sub would be great for that as well as using their enhancing skill for group bar- spells. Not to mention fast erase casts, divine seal, and curaga spells. As well as other debuffs for various status effects. It is indeed a very useful subjob.

However, RDM can also skill up archery. Not Marksmenship and perhaps throwing, but that'd cost you some money. (Unless the new expansion chakrams from IS guards are RDM use-able.) So level up RNG and you can do some decent damage as a DD for outside-EXP stuff.Being able to skill up archery simply just isn't enough, RNG sub allows you to access the weaponskills and RNG abilities up to Lv37.

These are just some of the things you can do to "maximize" your RDM's potential. I'm not saying these are SJs RDMs should focus the rest of their playing experience on, but our friend here is looking to become more versatile.

New chakrams are all job useable.

I dont know for every server, but on Gilgamesh /DRK is wanted for Suzaku only ( so it s 2 fights with Kirin's pet ) while /SMN is wanted for every gods but Kirin, Nid and Aspid. I lvled /DRK like 6 months ago and was only asked once to go RDM/DRK because we were short on stunners, not even to chainspell stun.

Most of the time, if an LS want you because of a subjob, it's pure luck and so having as many as possible is the only way to have better chance.

As far as mages things in groupes are concerned, I would say that you want to have /SMN, /DRK, /WHM and /BLM ready to use. After that, RDM being very versatile, many differents situations can happen and such, many other subs can be usefull.

Sounds like you primarily pld tank on Gilgamesh? On Bahamut we tend to primarily nin tank, so AA cycle is not so vital (my ls is unusual cause we pld tank a couple of the others, and of course Byakko is the exception to the rule.) Frankly I have never had the need to sub smn. Rdm/drk can be incredibly useful in Dynamis, and on mobs such as Hakutaku. Of course, using it for getting Diabolos Prime for your summoners makes it easier as well! I would put the subs you need in the order of whm and blm equal, nin (I do a fair bit of kiting), drk then smn and bard if you feel the need.

Don't underestimate nin - we fought Xolotl the other day and I was able to effectively kite one of the summons to zone, useful when you only have 7 people fighting him.

            Re: RDM endgame question

I've never seen RDM/SMN used or asked for in endgame content. WHM/SMN are common as dirt and SMN themselves are not all that rare, so what would be the point? I have it because I enjoyed leveling SMN, and the only time I ever used it was on the ZM5 headstone in Behemoth's Dominion - and that was only because of the limited set of people available to do it on one particular occasion.

Aside from /WHM and /BLM which you should already have as you level, I think /DRK and /BRD are the subs you will most likely find useful for HNM and Dynamis.

/THF, /NIN and possibly /BLU are useful for soloing but not really important for party/alliance play. /PLD is ok for solo but personally I prefer /DRK if I want Vorpal Blade - I find the offensive traits and abilities more useful, as well as Drain, Aspir and Stun.

I recently used /PLD to kite Buggby in the PM "A Century of Hardship" - I wouldn't call it necessary but it was probably helpful to have the Defense Bonus and higher HP. That's 60 cap, though, so it doesn't exactly qualify as "endgame" (even though many players procrastinate on PMs until they are actually at endgame levels and want to start doing Limbus).

My LS usually has around 6-10 SMN/WHM on for larger events like Kirin aswell as several WHM/SMN. I don't think RDM/SMN is going to have much of an impact for us.

I think generally it varies depending on the composition of main jobs in any Sky event. Also by the number of members. Some LS can have 50. They'll take eternity to get everyone what they want, but have no trouble getting the composition for any event. Some LS, no matter how many level 75 jobs each player has, are limited to the number of members they have period. You can say you have 10 BLMs out of 20 players at 75, but maybe 5 of those BLMs constitute your only tanking, so that leaves 5 actual BLMs at 75.
