  • Colibra = Enfeebling Nightmare

I believe they were called Colibra anyways. They are those little pink "pelicans" near the top of Bhaflau Thickets.

I discovered them this evening in a party with my RDM. When we got to camp and I saw what they were I thought "Awwww they're cute, this is gonna be easy" after the first couple of battles I noticed the horror within.

These cute little things can recast spells at you. For example: I cast Dia II, it casts dia II on me. BLM casts water III, it casts water III back at the BLM, full force. Not to mention the fact that they are hell to enfeeble in the first place. My enfeebling magic was capped at level 61 and I still was lucky to ever land anything.

After a few battles I really got fed up, and then decided to try silencing it. Well, silence is even harder to land than all of the other enfeebles combined! About the only time I got it to land was when I either used elemental seal or if I was reeeeally lucky. I think it might have helped if I wouldn't have forgotten my justice badge (I know, I need to upgrade), but still, it was horrible.

Towards the middle and end of the party I was afraid to enfeeble it at all without it silenced because other party members were getting dia'd, poisoned, slowed, and everything else left and right. Plus this was very distracting from my refresh and haste duties.

Plus even if silence didn't work on it, it can still cast it right on someone else. One time it failed and it silenced the PLD right afterwards.

Then dispel is just plain strange with these things. I don't know what is wrong with it, but I don't want to try it again. I once tried to dispel one to see if it had any buffs, but when I casted the spell the RNG's protect got removed by it instead. It did not recast it onto the RNG, I casted the spell and saw "Lilani casts dispel. RNGs effect of protect is removed" or whatever.

Maybe it did just recast it onto the RNG and neither of us saw it, but afterwards the pt got a real kick out of it. He was like "yeah I should be fine, as long as the RDM doesn't dispel me again LOL"

Have any of you RDMs out there had a problem with these little buggers too, or is it just me?

Dunno about RDM difficulties. Normally I'd pull them with Elegy, and then Lullaby when I brought it back to party if they weren't done. If they were ready, I'd go ahead and Requiem it. Through all of that, sure it would cast back onto me, but Elegy only stuck on me once, Requiem didn't stick on me at all. Sometimes I'd Wind Threnody to help soften it for a Silence, Wind Threnody wouldn't stick on me either.

As a BRD, I'm fine with it casting my enfeebles back at me, they don't stick well on me. If it was bouncing nukes, then I'd think twice.

      Yeah, when I said I had to go they found a BRD to replace me, so I figured it would be for the best, concidering songs aren't technically spells. These things were bouncing nukes back at the BLM, my enfeebles at myself and the melees, and flash back to the PLD too. It was out of control, some battles took 5-10 minutes ; ;

We did discover that it cannot reflect spells that have been magic bursted, but still, you can't do that with everything ><

Colilbri do reflect songs, but they do a shitjob of sticking them on a BRD with high CHR.

Colibiris are just a bitch. When I had to enfeeble these, I just said screw it after a while and back up healed. . . It was ridiculous. My paralyze kept resisting, and then the DRK got hit with it, Nin was getting hit with slow every now and then..these are just ridiculous without a BRD.

My PT went a little south from the Halvung entrance with that little tower thing. 6 Colibris are there. We just run up and beat them one at a time. By the time the 6th is dead the 1st usually already pop back up. We did kinda good like that without Brd. But couldn't break chain 6 however.
We only had a Rdm and a Cor.

                Umm ... several things.

Why are you even bothering to stick enfeebling? I know of several players who've exp'd on thsoe things at mid-50s. They are weak as **** and die really fast. Save your mp doing something else more meaningful.

These monsters also have Auto-Reflect. I'm not sure if you're familiar with FFXI Lore, but Auto-Reflect allows the monster to just "reflect" all magic casting back to the caster. So, no, casting isn't a good idea.

My RNG friend at level 58 was in a party pulling chains to 17 on these weak ass mobs. About the only annoying thing is that they steal food effect from you. But then again, why would you need it if you're at least properly upgraded at that level...
