Re: What is the appeal of the Wise set?

I think the pants are probably the second-best RDM can get (Nashira is better, but requires sea access and a drop from a Limbus boss), but the rest of the set seems unimpressive compared to AF, Errant, Yigit and if you have it, AF2 and some Abju gear from a party/HNM/Dynamis perspective.

For solo it's almost completely pointless - you're normally fighting things *below* your level, so you really don't need either +acc or +macc. Get some str/atk gear like Ogre, Narasimha's Vest, Rutter Sabatons so it doesn't take you an hour to kill things. Pahluwan is good too, but I doubt if anyone has the assault points to spare from getting the useful pieces of Yigit - yet.

I should probably get those pants sometime though; the effect may not be big, but what else are you going to wear for enfeebling and dark magic spells? And elemental too if you don't have Duelist's Tights. Disappointingly, Yigit Seraweels are only good for swapping in to /heal.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
    RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Meh, Wise is the worst RSE from them all, so unless you enjoy looking like a smurf there are much better pieces of gear aviable. It's cheap I'll give ya that, but I'm not gonna add more junk I'll never us to my already full inventory just because of that.

Errant/Mahatma Slops. The Mahatma Slops are a great investment, it's a fairly cheap HQ version.

Also, even for soloing the Wise set is pretty crappy, there are always better choices for every slot but you need to mix and match a bit (Ogre, Narasimha's, Dusk, Assault Jerkin, RSE2 gloves/boots and so on).

And yeah Hamlet, I was being silly and left out that it was the best +Int piece. It still is even after you get a pair of AF2 boots but seriously, the only time I bother trying to max Int is for nukes. For Blind, Gravity and Bind I always go for max Skill so I sold my Wise feet a long time ago. I don't need yet another pair of boots to clutter up my inventory and macros.

For Mnd-based enfeebles it's another story though, I keep a pair of Mahatma Pigaches even though I've had my AF2 feet for almost a year

Re: What is the appeal of the Wise set?

I don't use the ugly wise hat. I use an elite beret instead for enfeebles and dark magic and pimp hat for everything else. I use the Chasuble body for dark magic and nukes and only use errant for resting (I'd like to get rid of errant body in favor of yigit one day). I use the feet when called for because they have +int, while my ogre ledelsens +1 cover my +mnd. (Yeah that's right I ditched the errant feet altogether.) I rest in the wise legs bc they have a little more mp than AF legs, also use them for dark magic. (I think mahatma's +8 stats is better for my run of the mill enfeebles and nukes in the leg slot than a little +Macc). Hume RSE2 hands handle my int and mind and mp, so I have neither errant, nor wise, nor devotee's for that particular slot.

          I have no AF2 yet, stupid low lots. ; ;

Macc is often shunned, but it is useful against hard stuff for those occaisions you fight tough NMs and IT-to-75's. It's also very helpful for landing consitent free-nukes and dark magic. I was very pleased when I first aspired 108mp off of a bird in Lufaise Meadows. And nuking for 3/4, 7/8, or no resist steadily outside of an MB is pretty nice... makes chainspell nuking more effective, and good for those parties where the pace is slow such that you've got mp to spare between converts.

I wouldn't melee in this set, except maybe the legs bc we don't have a lot of good choices for that slot. Ogre +1 hands and feet are excellent pieces. And narshima/vishnu is really our best melee solo body (:p to those you who think SH or Assault jerkin are better). I have vishnu vest and love it. :D For head a Voyager Sallet or Ohat are the way to go.

So in summary- situation use of the wise body and legs and feet. Hands kinda depneds on your RSE. I suppose it can be a space saver for {Too Weak} meleeing. Toss up on the ugly hat or elite beret- I prefer the beret. You'll never put away your pimp hat or pimp body, unless of course you upgrade them to pimp +1.

Re: What is the appeal of the Wise set?

i have the full wise set, and use it situationally.
*the hands and feet i macro swap with my errant hands and feet for int/mnd, i also sometimes use them soloing if i need acc more then i need the stats on my other soloing hands/feet.
*the head i used from 72 until 73 for enfeebling, then i switched to elite beret. they have about the same effect, and beret is cuter. i also use the head for drain/aspir and for some soloing situations.
*the body i use for drain/aspir, for freenuking (for mbing i use errant body general) and for convert. very occationally i use it solo, but i prefer my vest.
*the legs i use for drain/aspir, and for enfeebles/nuking when i am dealing with a highly resistant mob (like a god or protoultima or hmn). i also use these for solo, mostly b/c they're cute with my vest.

i also have a gramarcy cape that i pull out for some situations when i'm dealing with more resistant mobs. sometimes using my gram cape and keeping my mahatma slops on, a combination that gives me 1 less macc then the wise legs + rainbow cape but much more mnd/int.

basically, i use the magic acc peices in situations where i'm dealing with a resistant mob and dont have specific +skill gear to put into that gear slot.
