    What about, in addition to new spells, giving RDM a new way to cast old spells? What about a smaller version of Divine Veil? Instead of turning some spells into -ga spells, turn a self-only spell into a single target spell.

    This would allow you to put bar-spells on others without a WHM sub. Or you could put spikes and en-spells on somebody else. Even at a timer of 5 minutes, what tank wouldn't appreciate the occasional Stoneskin or Phalanx? Of course, that starts to cut in on WHM ability, meaning it depends on what WHM is getting, but many of these abilities are possessed by SMN to a greater degree anyway. Such an ability, however, would definitely underscore S-E's desire to encourage joining parties.
    4 out of 3 people have a problem with fractions. . .

      My brother (a rdm, go figure) has wanted for some time an ability like that... but he was thinking more offensively -- he wants a JA that he can use to make gravity effect tons of mobs >.> but yes, I think I agree with this idea. I don't think making Refresh AoE once every once in a while would be too overpowered. As is, a Dark Knight's best friend is PLD, and if there's a PLD, you usually prefer a RDM (as mentioned above, haha), and now we're looking at potentially 5 MP pools in the party to refresh. And that's a legit, non-manaburning party! Would it be so bad to use a JA every 10 minutes (that'd be just over 3 refresh cycles, right? >.>) to include the DRK in the refresh?

      My brother suggested also that maybe Corsair will get an ability like this, since that seems to be down the avenue of their abilities -- Corsairs augment abilities while Bards augment stats. And if it's under 37, you'd prolly be looking at the new RDM sub.

      On Stona<=>Erase. I'm WHM 11. I was sure Spring Water or whatever cured petrify and other nasties, but I thought erase was basically single target Spring Water...

      On brd vs rdm, I kinda get the feeling that choke + dia 2 doesn't give the same edge to the melees as minuet. As for me and enfeebles though: in my humble opinion, Slow is the most potent. I did a lot of tanking with Utsu: Ichi which means i'm irritated when the mob isn't slowed. Paralyze isn't consistent enough for a war/nin to rely on -- it's a perk. nin/war gets 1 second casting time and awesome parry/evade, so they learn to rely on those traits. For them, Paralyze is another miss and it can be worked into their scheme wonderfully.

      Brd replaces rdm, rdm replaces whm, whm with Mjollnir destroys the universe.

        Leviathan's Spring Water blood pact does cure petrification among other things, but takes a while to activate (cast Leviathan, get close to tank or whoever, activate blood pact JA, wait for animation), not to mention you have to have Blood Pact up and ready.

        Erase only zaps status effects that are not covered by other status removal spells, so it will NOT remove: Poison, Paralysis, Curse, Blind, Petrification, Doom, Virus, Plague, Silence.

        It does remove: Dia, Bio, Elegy, Requiem, Slow, Gravity, Bind, any Status-down (ATK, STR, VIT, etc.), Stun, Flash.

        Some effects can not be removed no matter what spell you use, such as Terror.

        P.S. Mjollnir sucks.

          I thought they announced new spells for RDM at the FFFan Festival for Aht urghan.

          but yes it would be nice to have some.

            According to the official announcement
            Red mage is a complex and powerful job once mastered. We are thinking about adding new magic, but the nature of the spells has yet to be decided.
            So maybe they will, maybe they won't, but they're thinking about it.

                that's the one kind of spell I don't want them to get any more of. The biggest things RDM can solo (and others whine about) are soloed via kiting. If they get a boost that helps them in the soloing department, I'd want it to be in kill speed. I know of BST(duh), NIN, and BLM soloing their own merits, but RDMs seem to just do it for fun and stuff. If it takes 10 minutes to kill, you're not chaining.

                Some uber RDM wanna prove me wrong on kill speed?
