Re: where should i go to cap sword
you can still melee after refresh if you manage your spells and mp well.
I found it too much of a trouble for the amount of damage i can do however, already tons of spells to keep track and meleeing on top of that is just really tiring...
but if you're up to it go ahead @@;There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Re: where should i go to cap sword
I am usually too busy to melee in parties, I get my sword swinging jollies off while soloing.
For leveling your sword, I suggest that with a BLM sub, go after decent challenge-even match targets, though if you don't have Stoneskin, I'd suggest avoiding even matches.
I don't have a level guide for you, but to find said targets, just look in leveling grounds you've outgrown, areas you no longer party in are ripe for skilling up.

Re: where should i go to cap sword
You need to just do it during special events, like during Rank 5 runs. No one will care if you melee in a group of 12-18 players, trust me. A good way to skill up. You get many more opportunities, but the best times are during Genkais, AF Coffers and later on, WS Trial/Skilling parties in the late 60s-70s.

Re: where should i go to cap sword
I took a number of weapons to Lv.100 in the 2nd Jungle on Mandy's and Gobbys.
I stopped meleeing in EXP parties at Lv.30. It wasn't until Lv.51 that I decided to work on my Sword Skill. I've managed to solo my Dagger and Sword skill from Lv.100 to almost 200. (Lv.195 Dagger & Lv.197 Sword) Stoneskin, Phalanx, & Blink against Bones in GC. I used Crabs in Toraimarai Canal to get to about Lv.185, and then Crabs in Kuftal to my current level.
Cap'd Enhancing Magic helps. Having a Hornetneedle for Dagger Skill Ups helps big time as well.
At Lv.39 You may not have much luck with doing this. At Lv.60+ it's been pretty easy, just time consuming. With Stoneskin, Phalanx, Drain/Aspir, and Refresh it goes smoothly for me. You could ask an LS member if they have a low level SKill they'd like to level and have them help out.Odude

Re: where should i go to cap sword
Refresh and convert are the tools that make rdm able to solo lol. Convert isn't so much as needed since it is every 10 minutes its a back up policy for survival while refresh gives 140 to you as 3mp/sec with 15sec recast

Re: where should i go to cap sword
I don't really keep track of that if it comes from a rdm to a mage of much lower lvs i know that it doesn't last long

Re: where should i go to cap sword
Refresh lasts one hour game time, which I think equates to 3 minutes earth time.
If you want to get started on skillup now, Yhoator Mandies like tdh said are your best bet. Because of the way Phalanx reduces damage per hit, mobs that hit faster but not as hard are the easiest to solo. If it works the way I think, you should be able to skill up to 109 on those.
Refresh and Convert aren't strictly necessary for solo work, but they reduce your downtime to almost nothing, and can give you some extra staying power if the battle draws on too long. Just remember to pull your prey to a safe camp where you won't draw links or aggro and you can solo fine without them.
