Honestly, I think these are better for a BST. I killed a VT the other day and it took me 30 minutes. lol Though I don't have DEF gear yet. I only have party gear. I'm considering buying some DEF solo gear to have some fun with. With my 30 minute kill, I wouldn't get that many kills in. But I intend to use this for my BST!

hmm 1.5 and three hours. I've never monitored exp I can get while farming before. But longer time + more bonus sounds more appealing to me too :D

It'll only make a minor difference. Say you kill 5 mobs, each one takes 15-40mins to kill. Quite the variance in time simply because soloing Dark Spark as 70RDM is no easy task.

So, amongst 5 Mobs, T-IT-NM, that'll be around 75-200mins. Seems like the Empress Band will most definatly be the better choice. So, that'll be a whole extra 400-600(?) exp?

As for Dark Spark, if you fight him as 70RDM, it will probably be one of the looooongest battles you'll have ever foughten. Took me 40mins of 3-4 converts. Lots of Aspir and Draining. And Fire 2, since I didn't have Fire 3 until I was able to beat Maat. (Was working on WHM AF, thus the Dark Spark fighting^^)

Since we now know the potential of the new items, any suggestions on areas to solo to maximize the bands' efficacy? I'm looking particularly for solo areas ideal for a 56RDM, but if anyone can direct me to a chart or site with such info, I'd appreciate it.

Since EP can give up to 47exp now I think our usually ZV farming route will be fine. We normally clear 1 room witnin 16 minutes always xD that's about 4 demons and 1 ahriman for 250 exp. 1 hour should net us at least 1k exp. Either item, we'll get the most out of them long before the time limit.

Err... why would you want to solo with them? So far nothing is said, you can't xp with them?

Or u can go to Prom area and kill EP there (with lvl 30 cap), ur experience will add onto ur main job nevertheless, despite at a certain formula, but still.

I used the Empress Rind today to help level my subjob (BLM) in the area around Windurst. When I started I was at lvl 3 and after 45 minutes to an hour the ring enchantment ended. I noticed it was right before I hit lvl 6. So I got about three levels out of it, but it just didn't seem to last that long (I find it hard to believe I hit the 1000 bonus max in such a short time.)

I may try it with my RDM to see what kind of exp I can get tomorrow...since I have to wait until tomorrow before I can use my ring again anyway. Maybe be a little more observant and scientific to see exactly what kind of bonuses I am getting.

I was 1200 tnl as WHM 36, and in the 30 mins I had, I noticed a huge net increae in exp in only 30 minutes. So i see it as usable in many instances.

Use it however you want. Not just solo.

Infact it's better not to use it solo, since you run the risk of not getting the full 1k bonus

Using in XP pt is the best bet, unless you're highest level...then it may not be so good.

The point is if you plan on using CP -> XP

Use up all 7 charges before tally.

If you don't plan to xp every day, then, yes, use it to solo.

I used the Empress in a pt last night. It basicaly gave me free 1k xp. My friend used it when he was helping with pop items and he still got the 1k xp in less then the 3hr time limit.
I'm thinking that Jei is right with the farming route in ZV.

From personal experience I would recomend you use it at the start of a pt so you get the most xp you can get (incase the pt happens to split soon after it starts) or if you only plan on farming EP-DC mobs then use it then and I'm sure you could get the cap xp before the time limit.

I think you killed him with nukes though, so if so disregard this next comment, or use it to know meleeing dark spark is quicker

;; that killable in less than 10-15min straight up tanking lvl 65~ /nin and fight dark spark you dont need ni, just ichi is fine, he's easy with /thf to, except i like ichi cause bio 3 sucks. weapon+enfire does great on him

Some math to see what you should solo:

on a side note, killing Easy prey is simple in our case, and with the new ep xp up, we could problably get 75-100/xp kills fairly quickly. there are some tough mobs that are fairly simple too for us. pre-patch I personally soloed Puck's in Den of rancor, each one took a good 15min, and they conned decent-tough, i only pick tough's, the reason i soloed them was for shield and parry skill up. (with a genbu shield i block *alot* and take very very very low dmg)
the ones that gave me 160 would make it 240xp, in 15min, that mean's 16xp min

now let's say the easy prey took me 5min for 100xp , that mean's 20xp/min

imo the easy prey are more profitable xp. the formula to prove it is pretty simple too :p
