    Re: Hey Red Mages!

Hehe, while it's true that I do want my Pimp Hat what has me wondering is, how the hell does a Red Mage not cast Refresh or Dispel? It's what we're known for! It's why we have a place in parties! The only time I ever had to be asked for Refresh was when some 'tard used his MP irresponsibly, beyond that I don't recall any complaints. As far as Dispel, well... sometimes I don't get to it quick enough. But again, another I've never had complaints on.

To the new Red Mages, read this and understand: Dispel and Refresh(once you get them), are why people like us so much. Fail to deliver on these and you'll find yourself with alot less invites.

      Re: Hey Red Mages!

Sad part is even if they fail to deliver those spells they'll never suffer from invites. Parties pretty much don't have a choice. Not enough BRDs. RDM is the only other job with refresh. No matter how bad of a rdm you are, you will get an invite. And that's why it's so easy for some RDMs to be screw ups.

Dam I rarely get complimented for doing my job (which usually amounts to doing other peoples jobs) in XP parties.. and I work my ASS off.

It's funny, I used to be a dark and I used to /bow whenever I got a refresh from a rdm and think nothing of it, Now that I am a refresher, all it takes is a (thank you) or a /bow here and there to make me feel appreciated.

I did the same thing with my drk, I really appreciated a rdm that would refresh me. So many of them would just refuse to. I agree, the rare thank you or bow is greatly appreciated and goes a long way. It makes me feel like giving 110% for the pt if I feel appreciated.

See, I had a party with an awesome red mage, and the EXP difference from the other parties was huge. Just by throwing in an extra refresh for me as well as the other mages we doubled the EXP I got in other parties. Less down time for me, more hate control, more heals for me etc. The hate doesn't get crazy when the DD do weapon skills so I'm able to keep the damage centered on me and as low as possible. If everybody does thier job right you should be getting awesome EXP.

most DRK I PT with kind of slowly use their MP. I put them in refresh cycle when their MP goes below 60%. Usually every 3-4 normal cycles. Once in a while some drk will need it every cycle we'll just have to deal with it ._. situationally

I basically try to stay to this but....

PLD 150mps use 46 MPs (Cure III) during whole duration of Refresh (yields 120) .... sometimes (usually) the PLD can go without. these guys get placed right above DRK.

now, the ones who actually Flash and use thier MPs, well, I'm a little more Refresh friendly. If they're full MPs (usually are w/ me) I usually time it so Refresh hits them Right as the thier MP bar goes down after they Flash.

Sorry guys, as Elvaan I learned at level 1, MP efficency. I'm not going to constantly keep casting Refresh on you with you at full MPs, you CAN wait till you actually USE your MPs! Those 18 seconds you spent casting Freeze, if refreshed and FULL, well those mps are wasted, meaning you wasted my MPs.

Theres bad people playing every job.. everyone just seems to focus on the bad rdms.

And about refresh orders, it really doesn't matter except on the first mob. Whoever is first really doesn't matter.. so long as you always recast it.

Its not really a matter of focusing on bad or good RDMs...its just we seem to remember things that happen wrong more easy than the good.

                      Re: Hey Red Mages!

in terms of PLD not using MP, I still put them in the first of the cycle you know. It's easier for myself to keep track that way.

me > pld > mages it doesn't really matter if the PLD doesn't use enough MP. PLD is a job that can't operate without MP, it's best they have more than enough MP in case something goes wrong.

that is correct if we meet a really rude or just a moderately rude player we can remember them for a long time. but if we meet a nice player. we may not remember them that long.

this could be because the good players in terms of politeness and in this case skill of using there job are actually more common so we dont notice them. we then only notice the people who suck and are different in "skill" then the majority of the players.

No. It's a waste of MP and timer to refresh a bard. The only time a bard would use MP is to help cure any status effects and any necessary cures. A good bard will recover MP in their ballad cycle.

Mostly true in XP parties, but not necessarily so end-game. Actually even in XP parties, pre-Ballad II, Bards tend to run out of MP pretty quickly, as they are only under the effect of Ballad I about half the time.

For end-game stuff, I spend a lot of MP when playing Bard and I always appreciate a Refresh when my MP dips below 100 or so. When the whole alliance is taking damage (i.e. Fafnir/Nidhogg's Hurricane Wing), everyone is spending MP, and the less aggro the WHMs have, the better off the alliance is as a whole.

Heh...Lately I've been partying with a lot of PLDs using Earth Staff in my parties....Which, IMO, reduces downtime by a hell of a lot. Most of them keep hate fine w/o sword and shield.....but this is ONLY after they get that sexy, sexy WS called Spirit Taker, in which they can recover their own MP.
