  • proper armor?

Ok im a lrdm30/blk11, yes I know I have to lvl up my sub. My question is this people tell me I am not dressed like a rdm. Heres my equipment:

    Weapon: Centurion Sword
    Body:Brass Scale Mail +1
    Hands: Beetle Mittens
    Legs: Brass Cuisses
    Feet: San D'orian Boots
    Neck: Justice Badge
    Back: Dahmel mantle
    Earrings: singer & reraise
    rings: 2x sardonyx rings
    Waist: Force Belt
I also have a Wrapped Bow using Iron Arrows, also have a shield just forgot whats it called.

Ok to me this is very good equipment.(I could be wrong). Is it ok for a red mage to dress like this. Rdm's are meant to fight as well as cast magic. Is there a post or a site that explains how each job should dress to get the best possible stats.

    Take The quiz yourself!

Well it is somewhat acceptable but you are going to have to switch equips eventually to fit the mage style more as you progress. Ditch the STR rings and get Ermite or Saintly Rings for MND and INT bonus.

The Shaman Belt/Frair's Rope seems much better to me.

Try to get a Wand+1 and some Mage lvl 20 gear that adds MP.

All in all around the time you leave Altepa, you should be at least striving for a mage buildup by then as your melee starts to sharply decline at the level.

Yeah, especially after level 30, RDM melee is really no longer a focus of the job. After ~25-30, you should be transitioning into a true support mage class. Your melee won't really mean much anymore, but that's okay- refresh is right around the corner and you'll be more than occupied with that.

You have a hume F as your avatar, so I'll assume you play a hume F in game. My recommendation is grab the RSE pants and boots, some eremite's rings, a chestnut wand, and drop the bow and arrows for the fortune egg or a morion tathlum. Use those as soon as you're up to the appropriate level. That'll help you look more "red-mage like." : )

Oh yeah you might also want a Black Cape around level 32 for that INT bonus, its reletively cheap, you cant lose with that.

I believe my particular set up around that level was as follows.

          Weapon: Highest Wand available +1
Off-Hand: Dont remember, unimportant anyway lol
Head: Gold Hairpin <-- I think it was that one
Neck: Holy Phial + Black Silk Neckerchef? +1 int
          Body: RSE
          Gloves: RSE
          Legs: RSE
          Feet: RSE
Back: Black Cape +1till Red Cape at 43?
Waist: Mercenarys Belt <-- I think the one with +1s to most stats, Windy CP item
          Earrings: Morion Earring x2
          Rings: Eremites x2 Saintly x2
          Range: Morion Tathlum

I think I wore all that pretty much till AF, but I added in two electrum rings for convert at 40, Royal knight belt at 50, and ice and dark staves at 51.

That looks pretty good, Deneb- though I don't think you meant Moldavite earrings x2 (Rare/Ex, level47).

Doh yeah Morion Earrings x2. Ive been gone for several months, and it was probably a year ago I was 30 rdm. Yar!

Going to start leveling redmage again I think, just need to pick up a few items, Moldavite Earring, and a Penitent's Rope.

                Re: proper armor?

Note that Singer's Earring only activates its latent +5 Evasion effect if your subjob is Bard. It does nothing if you are RDM/BLM. Replace that ASAP.
