start as warrior ^^ so you'll get a sword. you can then switch job to rdm.

Yeah start as WAR, the sword will help soloing, Dia is reletively cheap at your local magic shop no matter where you start out.

Yeah, I created my character as WAR and then changed my job to RDM and used the Sword.

In beta I started out as RDM and got that crappy dagger and the Dia spell. At Lv.7, somebody who had been in beta for almost two months already told me to get rid of that damn dagger and get a sword. So I had to do the Mandy leaf quest about 10 times so I could afford a sword or something. Made things much easier at that point. Though I did have to skill up sword, it made things easier.
