      Re: Stoneskin Test

      Sorry if this is a revived topic, but I did not know this. Icey your work really impresses me but are you positive about this. I recently obtained my af2 gloves that give me + 15 enhancing magic skill, so I use the following setup when i cast: E293/M101. Your saying that if I lower my enhancing magic by 25 pts and instead wear errants I can increase the absorbtion.

      AF1 Tights:
      +10 Enhancing Magic ::: 10

      Mahatma Slops:
      +8 MND :::::::::::::::::::: 24

      ???

      and is this no longer accurate?
      F1: ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND when X < 100
      F2: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 2 - 60 when X = 100 - 150
      F3: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 3 - 190 when X > 150

      when X = ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND + 20

      Through this formula in theory my E293/M101 setup absorbs 40 pts of dmg. Meanwhile the http://www.max-evolution.com/rdmffxi.php website says it is only 350. And you yourself have stated somewhere in the Stoneskin Torque discussion that 350 is cap. On that note if it is true that each MND is 3 pts of DMG absorbed @ end game, than does this imply promise badge = 30 pts of dmg absorbed = Stoneskin torque?? I have so many more questions and hypothetical setups that I will just try and leave this be but please get back to me.

        Re: Stoneskin Test

        kman, you have some very wrong numbers in that post.

        First of all, Warlock's Tights are 15 Enhancing Skill, which is 15 stoneskin damage. Second of all, Warlock's Tights ALSO have 3 MND on them, which is 9 stoneskin damage. 24 Stoneskin damage total.

        On that note if it is true that each MND is 3 pts of DMG absorbed @ end game, than does this imply promise badge = 30 pts of dmg absorbed

        Not sure what kind of math you used here, but Promise Bade has 5 MND. 5x3 = 15 stoneskin damage, not 30.

            Re: Stoneskin Test

            Enhancing Torque is 7Enhancing, so 7 stoneskin damage, Promise Badge is 5MND, so 15 Stoneskin damage. So, yes, Promise Badge would be better for Stoneskin casts, but would not help bar spells, En- spells, and Phalanx, whereas Enhancing Torque would.

                Re: Stoneskin Test

                Stoneskin seems to be broken or something for me yesterday. I was the puller for our Manaburn for a bit and I'd Cast Stoneskin/Blink before pulling something. And it'd wear off right before i got hit by the mob and I'd seem to get full damage or close to it...(Cape Terrigan BTW)

                  correct me if i am wrong, but if one hit totally kills your stoneskin, i believe it says it "wears off" instead...sorta like when you get -gaed with Utsusemi on.

                      Re: Stoneskin Test

                      Stoneskin always gives "Your Stoneskin effect wears off." immediately after you exceed the damage limit. The damage is still absorbed, though. The message is just there to let you know that your Stoneskin effect is no longer protecting you from any more damage.

                        Is Stoneskin torque that enhnances stoneskin > that promise badge because it provides 30

                          Sort of. It's pretty easy for a RDM75 to hit the 350 damage cap (it's not really hard for me to do as WHM75 either). In XP situations, it's rare to use Stoneskin for much other than Convert insurance in combat, and at end-game, there's no lack of gear you can use to hit the cap. Promise Badge is at least useful for other things (bumping up MND for Slow or cures, for instance), while Stone Gorget only has the one, very narrow function.

                          Stone Gorget is a much better item for non-RDMs, who have much greater difficulty hitting the absorption cap. For RDMs, I just don't see the point.

                              If you look at my test data (and Apple Pie's response earlier in this thread) you'll see the notation about the damage absorption cap on Stoneskin. Stoneskin absorbs a maximum of 350 damage, no matter how much Enhancing Magic or MND you stack. For end-game RDM75s, who start with 256 Enhancing Magic, the formula basically is (doing replacement on the >250 formula):

                              End-game RDM75 with 256 base Enhancing Magic:

                              Stoneskin damage absorbed = 55 + 3xMND + Enhancing_Skill_Bonuses

                              Since end-game RDMs have somewhere around 60-70MND depending on race/sub, we're looking at a base of around 235-265 base damage absorbed when naked, which means you only need around +25 to +35 MND to cap out Stoneskin. When you consider that NQ Errant Houppelande and Errant Slops already give +17MND, you can see that it's very, VERY easy for RDMs to hit the cap at level 75, which is why I say the extra 30 points from Stone Gorget just isn't necessary for RDMs; they can hit the cap very easily without even trying.

                                I see so this is why u asked in the previous discussion if stoneskin gorget stacks with the cap. Thank you, I understand now.
