  • Dusk Hands and feet for RDM/NIN Solo?

I was looking at the dusk gear on the AH today the Hands and gloves seem to give a total of 5% Haste. on my server they are about 1.8 million a piece. Seeing as the speed belt gives 6% and its 15 million on my server. I was wondering if you think these would be worth the investment for rdm/nin solo. I do have a joyeuse so I was wondering how much would it effect utsusemi casting attack speed stacked with haste

not a high enough level, but since no one replied, i'll just answer based on a practical stand point

Lets just say you HAVE the cash to get either Speed Belt or the Duck pieces.

I'd say the speed belt since its increas by itself is more than 2 pieces of armor combined. This in turn allows you to equip items in those other slots that would allow for additions to other traits/stats/abilities.

This is just from a practical standpoint, not experience based, so idk, i could be starkly wrong. On the other hand, having spent 3.6mil (i think thats what you meant) totally for 5% and saving 12mil also allows you to propagate money to other gear. Possibly some lowly leg, or another belt that only gives 1%. Althought it would be from using 3 pieces of equipment, you'd have the same effect as speed belt, but for less.

And btw, i hope you didnt dare to remove your hat. In Bono's absense, i will have to be the staunchiest advocator of the Red Mage Testaments

Assuming you can wear Dust gear, I will assume you are around 72 since you can equip Dusk so therefore having Blink 1 because you NIN should at least be 12.

      Dusk Gloves : +3 % Haste, +5 Attack, +20 HP
      Dusk Gloves +1: +4 % Haste, +6 Attack, +22 HP

      Dusk Ledelsens : +2% Haste, +4 Attack, +25 HP
      Dusk Ledelsens +1: +3% Haste, +5 Attack, +27 HP

I will assume your going with just the regular versions. So that would be +5% to Haste, +9 Attack, and +45 HP.

RDMs have 25% Fast Cast. Blink 1 takes 30 seconds to recast.

      30 secs * 25% = 7 secs
      30 secs - 7 seconds = 23 secs
      23 secs * 5% = 1 second
      23 secs - 1 seconds = 22 secs

Do not forget to add in Haste from your Haste spells.

Let's say I am wrong about my calculations though and we ignore Fast Cast effect. Blink time is still 30 seconds

      30 * 5% ( Dusk Gear)= 1.5 seconds
      30 * 6% ( Speed Belt)= 1.8 seconds

      That's only a 1 or 2 second difference, it won't kill you.

I would say go with the Dusk as it offers you more attack as well as some Haste along with some HP whereas Speed Belt only offers you 6% to Haste. Or just go and buy a Dusk Legs for the +14 to attack ^^

Oh and Joyeuse does not help you cast fast. It only allows you to hit faster because of the effect of Double Attack

As I've been leveling ninja I can feel a definite difference in timers with the Fuma Kyahan on (Haste +3%), its comes out to be a big difference in your blink timers.

I just found the report of Haste+ equipments on this "FF Memo" website.
            http://miara.sakura.ne.jp/ff/job/j_nin.htm

He checked recasting time of Utsusemi:Ni with several gear configs by using the following macro.

            -----------------------------
            /ma Utsusemi:Ni <me>
            /wait 5
            /recast Utsusemi:Ni
            -----------------------------

            Here's the result.

            1) No Haste+ equipment: 43 seconds
            2) With Fuma Kyahan (Haste +3%): 41 seconds
            3) With Koga Tekkou (Haste +4% at night): 40 seconds
            4) With Speed Belt (Haste +6%): 39 seconds
            5) With Fuma Kyahan and Speed Belt (Haste +9%): 37 seconds
            6) Have Haste spell on: 35 seconds

The spell, Haste, reduces 12.5% of weapon delay while it reduces about 15% of recasting time of any spells including ninjyutsu and songs.

Finally, with everying included --- Haste spell, Fuma Kyahan, Speed Belt and Koga Tekkou (at night), the recasting time was 29 seconds.

Based on the result, Zempten's method of calculating recasting time looks O.K to me. Although there isn't much difference for Utsusemi:Ichi, 2 second reduction for Utsusemi:Ni is nice. If we have both Dusk Gloves and Ledelsens, it's going to be 3 second.
