Another Maat battle

Even after we finish Genkai 5 quest, we can challenge him again when we get another testimony.

We know we have to count on Chainspell and our strongest elemental magic spells to beat him. I have never seen anyone beating him without Aero III or other III spells at LV70 or earlier.

Well, I'm finally at LV75 and most of my skills are capped. I've been wondering if we can beat him only with melee. Compared to RDM70, RDM75 has 23 higher weapon skill, 25 higher enfeebling skill and better gears.

Anyway, I felt like doing that and went to Tu'Lia alone today to get the testimony. I killed three Sprinklers and finally got one. I went back to Jeuno and then went to Waughroon Shrine. I traded the testimony to Burning Circle and the game began.

Yes, it is possible for RDM75 to beat him without any elemental magic spell. I used neither medicine nor drink. It took me 5 minutes and 41 seconds to finish the battle. I think I was lucky because Blink helped me to evade Asuran Fists.

I'm not sure if it's possible for RDM70 or earlier to do the same although RDM70 can make use of Joyeuse but it's great if it is really possible.

One of my first strategies was to sleep and icarus wing 300% TP, run in spirits, melee until he chainspelled and then chainspell my spells (to save MP a little) yeah.... that didn't quite work, as I found out he resists spirits... and he hit for 90ish even with phalanx, so stoneskin would get eaten too fast.

Wow, Im very impressed. Once again, you set the bar just a little higher for everyone on every server. People ought to know your name greater than Bobbyjai's name is known on my server (he scammed someones peacock charm back in May 2004...but of course Grendal's name would be known for good things) Very impressed once again, heavily anticipating your next video. Solo'ed Serket or Roc yet? Ive heard this has already been done before though...

Colour me seriously impressed too. You were very brave to go in melee against a mnk/rdm, and you're taru too. One mistake would've meant death, but hey, Apple Pie doesn't make mistakes, right?

Jeez Grendal with all the fun things you do that I've always wanted to do but still too low to do I'm going to have nothing even slightly original to try. Still that was very impressive like just about all the videos you post here. Guess all I have to try is beating Maat like you did but at 70. I wonder if its even possible without savage blade or at least vorpal blade(why couldn't you give us Ex weapon skills SE )

Ive considered it a possibility, but as Im only level 52, Im gonna have to wait to get a lot higher in level, beat him in Nuking-style, then get all the good stuff THEN will even consider trying. I think Apple Pie makes quests in game better than the NPCs do cause now everyone wants to do the fights he does. But beating up on old men....shame shame....
