  • RDM Testimonies...

Today I went out and scoped out Ugglipeh (sp), and after finally finding a hover Tank behind the prelate key door. I thought I'd try to solo it, but be really really careful not to die (only a few hundred EXP into 70). It started smoothly until the damn thing took off Stoneskin/Phalanx every couple hits. I only took maybe an eighth before decided to escape for my own safety (I wasnt too TOO bad, but I was low on MP because the Tank aggro'd from really far away and caught me off guard). So basically what I'm getting to is that, is there another place I can solo my Testimony? And if not, where would you reccomend? btw that tank was T or something to me...

Well, these monsters aren't exactly soloable, but a VERY good place for RDM Testimonies are Aura Pots in sky. I've gone with my LS on a couple of water hunts to prepare for fighting Genbu, and RDM testimonies drop like crazy off of those pots, its almost rediculous.

I heard that Sprinklers aren't too bad either...

When things got a little hairy while soloing the hover tanks, I casted sleep II on it and took a rest. That's when I usually converted as well, and rebuffed anything that was needed. Rest up a lil more and was ready to continue. It takes a while to solo them but it was a good controllable fight that you should be able to do.

By the time it my mp was getting low, my convert was back up again, and all I had to do was SLeep II again. Usually though the fight wouldn't last long enough that I had to sleep it twice.

        Goodluck with it.

        BTW do you know Akamatsu?

          1) Maybe it was just me, but the tank I was fighting seemed to resist like mad...
          2) No idea who he is

Those Hovertanks are soloable at 70, but I found the drop rate to be horrible (as in, no drop for at least 3 hours). In the soloable aspect of the fight, I too found the fight risky. They attack so fast, and even as easy prey, interupted by casting a lot. Also, silence was random as heck... wearing off so he can cast a -gaII, III, or ancient magic.

Giving up there, I grabbed my static and headed to Beadeaux. After one Ruby Quadav (in Qulun Dome where you did gk3), I had my testimony. I don't think it's a 100% drop... but it's up there. There are two Ruby spawns...and they take about 20-25 to respawn.

I went to Ugg with the intention of soloing for a testimony today, but a fortunate turn of events saw a duo invite me to their party when a testimony dropped, thus saving a lot of hassle. However, the place I went is really good for solo/duo against the pots. Go into the temple through Yhoat in the usual way (like directly south of the telepoint). Then go left, through the door, and carry straight on down the path. Zone into jungle again, take the first right and you zone back into Ugg. There are 4 pot spawns close to a zone there, plus tonberries and goddamn wasps (hate those wasps!). I dunno if this is where you were fighting Xyph, but I've always been fortunate on those pots. An alternative is camping on the stairs of upper Delk's tower and pulling pots down to you, but I personally haven't seen a testimony drop from them.

And of course, for real G5 practice, solo ruby quadav.

duo in temple of ugg and you have no problem. got my testimony with another rdm (war sub) and a drg/whm (btw, duoing with a drg/whm is AWESOME) - me, i had a /drk sub. we had fun ripping off vorpals

had 2 drops in about 2 hours or so. our method for pulling was rdm sneaks, casts sleep2 on pot, re-sneak, run back to camp and waith for said pot.

hope this helps anyone. it was very easy...

I soloed Ruby Quadav last night for mine (RDM/BLM 67), first drop was Shell 4, second kill was Testimony. This is at the zone into Qulun Dome where the first Ruby pops.

To Pull --> Buff up (like FULLY) , do an EM/seal Sleepga (several will be blinked).. EM/seal because you *have* to use sleepga and a resist is just messy, even with a zone behind you.

Silence/Gravity only Ruby... Then wake him up w/o a DoT (actually your biggest nuke is good here.) He will come to you slowly because of gravity, sleep2 him when he is almost to zone.

Zone out (losing aggro)... zone in.. He is at zone sleeping like a baby... Here we go!!!

                  Your cycle is --->

                  Blink
                  Stoneskin
                  Aquaviel when it falls
                  Refresh when it falls
                  Aspir
Silence (this will CONSTANTLY fall, try to keep it up,one cast will ruin it,he loves Bio3)
                  Stone3
                  Sleep
Water3 (I didn't know he was water-based until after, but it usually hit for me)
                  Sleep2
                  Rest......Repeat!!

I believe it took about 20 minutes per kill... I kept para/slow on him, and it helped some. I died on my first attempt 4 nights ago because a JP party got bored watching me so they trained the other 2 and zoned >< (i died in 8 seconds, the DRK stunned and that was ballgame.) Then, they came back and killed all 3 and Raise3'd me.

Just beeeee patient....... I swear this is easy, it just takes time.

My equipment as it applies was Pluto's Staff, Dark/Enh/Enf/Elem Torques and capped skills in each. I think after food I had +32 INT, but that's offhand (I have +38, no food and Mythic Wand, but I did all my nuking w/Ice Staff)

Edit: Juice would be good here, I brought none... It just makes it take longer without. Happy Hunting!

Ruby quadav is amazingly easy, it's a joke. The first time I fought it it took about 20 min, but I can get under 15 min no problem now. Here's how I did it.

If ruby is near the zone try to pull with just a regular spell, stone/aero/water etc. If he links wait about 2 sec and sleep II, then zone. Wait about 5-10 seconds and zone back in, buff up, med mp, stand up, Aero3 followed by sleep/sleep2 (i will explain when to use each). Then you can wait a bit, stand up aero3, sleep again. I did this over and over again. If I saw the ruby quadav casting something that needed to be stopped I would use a Sleep to interrupt him, or, if I didnt plan on medding I would just do a regular sleep and follow it up with a nuke right after.

Things to note: Sleep is mostly used as an interrupter so you arent hit while waiting for a recast on aero3. Do not silence him, I found it to be a complete waste. The ruby would take a lot longer casting, normally I could sleep before it finished casting, when it would melee is when it would cause me to lose stoneskin or blink. Keep in mind Stoneskin absorbs DOT damage so if you do get bio3 just put stoneskin up and med.

The ruby quad does use chainspell, makesure and do a sleep right away followed by a sleep2 to makesure he's out. Don't panic here though, I did the first time I saw it and I almost died.

Conclusion: I would have to say that this in no way is a good practice for maat. Maat resists sleep very frequently, hits with 2 fists at a time, has a killer weaponskill, and a much shorter time frame to kill him within. Killing ruby quadav is very easy because of low resistance to sleep, maat is nothing like that.

Maat has far less HP though. You can take down Maat with 8 or 9 Aero 3 doing what, maybe 400 dmg a pop? Thats 3600 HP. Ruby Quadav would probably have closer to 10k HP, maybe more. Obviously it takes longer to kill.

In my time leveling BST, I've realized what kind of HP mobs have, and I can tell you Desert Dhamels in East Altep (lvl 39-44) have about 1900-2000 HP (I know this for sure because of the pet food gamma glitch that caused full restoration of HP). Imagine what Ruby Quadav (lvl 70 NM) has...

I believe Ruby is a good test for Maat, as it requires quick thinking and smart decisions in panic situations.

Soloing Ruby Quadav is the best way to get RDM's testimony. It give you a good practice for fighting Maat. My thinking is that if you cannot solo Ruby Quadav, you cannot beat Maat. Why? You get the benefit of subjob and unlimited time to fight Ruby.

Also, the drop rate for RDM's testimony from Ruby is far better than Hover tank in the temple.

I've heard Sprinkles in sky drop them left and right but it is not really soloable.

Ruby has max 6k hp, and I think that's a high estimate. Maat gave up for me after 6 Aero3's for 457 each, I think 3600 is maybe his total life, not where he gives up.

Ruby takes around 12-13 Aero3's. Ruby does not resist sleep, ever... you'll have a much harder time sleeping the Darksteel Quadav's than Ruby.

From personal experience I think the Hover Tanks should drop more, but I haven't killed enough to have a good sample.

I gave up soloing a Hover Tank, at least the ones by Sozu, they are just damn hard. I've killed 2 in party (after I beat Maat), both dropped. I killed Ruby twice at 67 to get first drop (practice run, no money spent...) Took 3 kills for my first real run at 70. Then, to get my last one took TWELVE more kills of Ruby, I tought I was going to lose my mind.

On a related topic, Ive seen it listed several places that both Ruby and Sapphire can drop Water 4. Ummm, I doubt this given the number of kills I have against them but has anyone seen this drop?

Asking others to help for testimony can get old. The best way I found was to go to the temple and look for a PT fighting and waiting for the NM that drops THF dagger. You tell them that your only interested in Testimony and will pass on everything else. This is how I got 3 testimonies.
