  • lvl 20 sword and wand

    hey guys i know i asked before about what equipment i should have at lvl 20, and i got basically most of the spells now, my lizard armor, and one level away to getting bettle armor. my sword slot is bee spatha, which i have used for a long time, and i have yet to buy a wand yet. i just turned lvl 20 last night. i want to know specifically what should i be using at lvl 20, i know in past post someone saying bee spatha will take you all the way to lvl 18, but now what? and what wand should i get for myself?
    oh yeah, about equip macros, is there a way so that a macro will switch from using specific equipment according to the type of magic u use (white magic macro: switch to saintly rings, blm macro: switch to eremites etc. etc.) or do i have to put in macros for certain spells seperatly? im guessing the latter, but i still want to make sure.
    thank you.

    You can do your macros either way actually. Only problem with having your equipment changes as a separate macro is it takes 2 separate actions to cast one spell. It is much more efficient to include equip changes in the spell macro. It isn't gonna delay your casting any to hit a macro that calls for an equip change you did in the last macro so don't worry about that. Of course for your level you don't have a whole lot of equipment to be switching anyway...but you will later so might as well get used to it. XD

      I already switch between 5 peices of equipment depending on whether I want INT, MND, or Melee :sweat: (lv26 rdm)

      I rotate between +11 int, +18 mnd, and +5 dex, +2 accuracy, +8 attack. I'm actually gonna make another thread for my equips, because I'm kinda confused as well.

        Yeah well you're a total goober anyway =P Besides, most new RDMs aren't gonna be able to afford 7 different equip setups since most do well to just put together one >.>

                  I use Yew Wand +1 which gives you +4 int and +4mnd. I've used that since 18 and I haven't had enough gil (especially after buying Dispel :sweat: ) to get a new wand (Solid Wand (+5int +5mnd)).

                  As for a sword, I always kept up to date with swords even though I only use them while soloing.

                    For lv13->26, I've used Bee Spatha +1. It's not too far off in damage from other swords, but it has an added 2 accuracy. I have no idea if that helps or not, but the only sword I'd consider upgrading to is a Long Sword +1, and that's never in stock. For lv30, I have a Centurion's Sword waiting for me. I only melee when I have to cap my sword skill, and I haven't melee'd at all so far in Kazham (AoE sleep = gh3y).

                    As for wands, I also have the Yew Wand +1 (+4 int / mnd), and at lv32, will upgrade to the Chestnut Wand +1 (Solid Wand). The clubs are easy to figure out which one to use - as long as you have the latest +1, you've got the right one. Swords, on the other hand, are a little harder to judge, although the Centurion's Sword is pretty much unbeaten until the 40's.

                    I'm only lv26 RDM though...

                      I'd have to say,

                      Swords:
                      Bee Spatha+1 --> Longsword+1 --> Centurions Sword --> Fencing Degen

                      Wands: Yew Wand+1 --> Solid Wand --> next +1 wand =P

                      always go with the best +1 Wand
                      (the one that gives the most INT/MND)

                        I think Kaiser Sword is a nice cheap alternative. It's decent for it's level and what's best about it is ... when you're done with it you can turn it in for a map. Mind you this isn't the best sword obviously but it is good for someone who wants to go cheap. I think it's also viable because from 20-40 most likely you're going to get into PTs where you will have to back up heal WHMs in your PT because at those levels, there is a good chance your WHM will be horrible at healing people and you will do more healing than anything else in a PT. So my own path right now is kaiser sword until my af1. There also isn't much worth soloing before 41 when you get refresh because of mp concerns so having the best damage weapon isn't all that necessary

                          I didn't go with the +1 versions, but this pretty what I did/am doing right now.

                          I took the Longsword up to Centurion, and I'm still using that. (Lv.36.) I grab the next +1 wand as soon as I can get my hands on it, so I have the Solid Wand now. INT/MND+5 if I recall correctly.

                          Though, I must say, I didn't start employing a wand until about Lv.30 I think... I just went with a sword all the way. Now I rarely have my sword drawn long enough to actually swing with it.
