They're both junk. <shrug> Pick the one that corresponds to the weapon you use most, or just get both. Either way you won't be doing very good damage to anything higher than EP, and even WHMs will embarass you with Hexa Strike on EP or lower. RDM endgame WS are just...depressing.

Got Evisceration last night and Its a very good WS imo. When it comes to farming and such, it's incredible. I was taking on Tigers today (Sabertooth; Battalia) using Evisceration for damage around 400 (more than half of a tiger's HP).

Next comes Savage Blade next level...d(^_^

It is obviously the best weapon skill we get for dagger but it kinda makes me mad that it doesn't even compare to things Thf get with dagger. Dancing edge is easily able to do twice what Evisceration is able to do with 100% TP from what I've seen while playing with my friend's Thf. So while I really shouldn't complain that we at least get one decent non AoE WS for dagger, I really wish it would just do a little more dmg. But I don't even have that yet so I guess I shouldn't even think about it and just level.

Yeah I'm just glad that I wont have to risk hitting mobs nearby just to deal over 150 damage XD

Finally got Savage Blade.... and it's a pretty good WS (for RDM anyway). I picked it up mainly because it is the best Sword WS we'll get without /drk, /war. or /pld. Also, when fighting mobs that are stronger against piercing weapons like daggers, Evisceration's damage is painfully low; so I suggest getting both so you can be versitle and adapt to every mob you fight.

I'm working off the latent on my trial dagger now. Haven't been able to find help so I've been just soloing Robber Crabs in Kuftal. Painfully slow, using rdm/nin and dual weilding trial dagger in main, and hornetneedle in sub. I've been doing Gust Slash as my WS, but can I do Energy Drain? I wasnt sure since it's not actually on the SC chart or anything. If I can use Energy Drain, it will reduce my downtime significantly. I think I got about 50 WS done so far... I have to do 300 right? Or less if I SC with someone...

I plan to have Eviseration done by the time I hit 73, so I'll just get them both. As soon as I get sword to 240 skill, I'll start working on Savage Blade.

I found that subbing SMN helps the process of getting the latent off the weapons if you don't have another buddy to level 2 SC with. The latent on the sapara came off pretty quickly using:

Poison Nails > Fast Blade -- 3 points for Distortion

Now I'm working on the dagger, and Poison Nails > Viper Bite also gives 3 points.

As a lvl 31 sub, Poison Nails would miss about 1/3 of the time though. This was against Robber Crabs at Kuftal.

lol, good idea. That's what i like about the rdm community, always thinking, and bringing in new ideas.

I got both Evisceration and Savage blade, but I only use savage blade. How can I justify using a dagger when I have Joyeuse (unless I'm dual weilding)

On EP and under mobs, I love Savage Blade at anything above 100TP... On higher mobs, they both suck, so I save up on Savage to 200 (Martial Anelace) for the multiplier.

Martial weapons work wonders for both WSs, but Savage Blade especially.

They can't quite make the WSs not suck in comparison to other WSs available to the same weapons, but they can help the situation somewhat.

Martial Knife makes for a very consistent 300-350 damage Evisceration at 100% vs. DC to EM mobs (as used by a THF friend, no SA or TA).

Martial Anelace makes Savage Blade pretty good. I just got the WS last night, and was goofing around in Garliage Citadel with a couple friends (hoping Serket would pop so we could trio him). As RDM/NIN with Martial Anelace + Joyeuse, wearing +52 attack and +17 STR, I was doing 400-600 on Too Weak to low EP bats and beetles downstairs. I popped one Citadel Bat for 968 (my all-time damage record from any single attack, be it magical or physical) at 100% as well. Vorpal Blade is still better and more consistent on weaker mobs, but with the Martial SB is pretty decent.

                            I did over 1000 dmg with a Wise Wizard's Anelace using Souleater/Last Resort/Vorpal Blade ^^

Sure, it was to the Undead G2 hound with negative defense.. but still.

I don't have evis. yet but I do have savage...

I like the ws @ 300% more than I like vorpal @ 300%. My record Savage @300% to the GK2 Boreal Hound is 2249.

Outside of GK2 Hound. hardest I've landed savage for was 1080 in coffer key party at castle oztroja.

All it takes is some STR gear to improve upon savage. 70Base STR as rdm/war +27STR in gear +5STR using cheap meat mithkabobs >> 102STR as a rdm... Being Elvaan helps, as the ws is based upon STR and MND.

Nice. My best Savage blade (on easy prey) was about 354 dmg to an Abyssal Demon in Castle Zvahl Baileys. This was with Base-3 MND (had spike neck equipped) and 55+19 STR. Damn Tarus are weak. I've been trying to land a pair of Orge Gloves for over a month. Last 2 sold on may 28, but I missed them. 10k gil for +6 STR is awesome value.
