xp after update is nice on these guys now. 39-45 xp at level 75 =D
Thats pretty sweet. It's a viable place to multitask (I mean more than it was before) You can earn about 1k exp/hour, collect seals, and make lots of gil. Nothing wrong with that.
FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner
FFXI: Shiva Server
I made 30k exp farming there prepatch already. I think 1 more week and I should level up to 75 all by myself

My gear isnt weak, but it's not spectacular either, so I'm gonna post it and ask for input:
Rune Blade
Ogre Jerkin/AF body
AF Gloves
AF Pants
Ogre Ledelsens
Parrying Torque
Royal Knight's Belt (Gonna use Warewolf Next level)
Amemet Mantle/ Rep. Army Mantle(Dex2 Vit2 so I keep it around)
Drone Earringx2
Tiger ringx2 (AGI2 Atk2)
Fencer's Ring
Current Gear I'm trying to obtain
Warewolf Belt
Ogre Mask
Ogre Pant/ Torama Pants(I think that's the name- they give Evasion+3)
I'm lvl 70atm, Sword is at 206, lol, Shield is like 110 and Parry is 85.
Will I be able to survive here? Even as RDM/BLM
One thing I'm concerned for is that I can kill the mobs on a consistent basis. Maximizing drops(sans, going as /THF) seems to be low on my priority list since my lvl is such. Is it possible? Grendal told me yesterday that they are hard DC mobs, that's why he recommended lvl73+, but I'm getting real sick of farming in West Altepa for 1 hour and only getting one Spider Web -.-

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
At 70 I think most things will still con Decent and might hit you too hard. At 74 I even have close calls sometimes ^-^;; The DRK demons can still hit me for up to 120, and it can get nasty sometimes.
If you're careful, don't link them and don't DoT them in case you need to sleep, you may be fine.
Ahriman's level 5 petrify doesn't stick long when im 75. About 10 seconds max.
Not sure how long it will last for 70.

*sighs* ok, then I'll be an exp/sky whore until I'm strong enough to roll with the big boys, lol
Grendal just told me I should merit Sword and Evasion, so I'm gonna roll with that for a while. And I plan on getting my Joyeuse within 3 weeks. I just need time to get the ToD ;.;

hmm I'm sure evasion will definitely help ^^. I don't know if I want to go through all the work to put merit in it tho lol

If you do decide to try farming here at level 70, I would suggest going all-out on defense/vit. You won't evade that much and when you do get hit it will hurt, a lot. I'd also suggest eating some kind of defense food, even though you'll hit for slightly less than when eateng attack food your Stoneskin will last longer and your chances of recasting mid-fight are better. Remember that you can Bind the monster and take 2 steps away and recast if you get interrupted on casting SS.
You'll see after the first couple of rounds if you can use dots or not, it's great if you can because it's good, cheap damage.
If this doesn't work, go to boyahda and farm spiders there instead, it should be ok for you I'd think. Sickle Slash might hurt a bit but not too bad.
Anything not EM *except, obviously, Demons* Is the perfect example of a joke to me. Spiders are EP-DC
And ty Swing, I thought about DEF a long time ago, when I broke down RDM soloing and determined it was DoT while we prolong our lives. So I did go defensive. Thanx for reminding me it works on more than just EM+
Def, especially for RDMs, is MUCH cheaper to afford than Eva or Atk, lol.

Just a note, if you want to raise your shield skill. It's pretty easy to get an Astral Aspis off the NM cock in Kuftal Tunnel. I've noticed that I've gotten more shield skills up with that, I'm guess it's because it's a small sheild.
yeah, Rune blade's latent effect is 4mp/sec when you HAVE* MP and then you DRAW* your sword. Which means even with Refresh we lose 1mp/sec. I think it isn't worth it overall as a weapon, but the damage is nice if you're farming mobs that can be defeated before your refresh cycle wears off.
Like with WAR sub in Batallia, this sword kills Tigers in maybe 7-8 swings. which equates to a few seconds cause DA seems to proc insanely a lot.

Went to the farming spot to try my hand at it, i'm lvl 71 and I tried getting the gear available at my lvl/currency condition, lol.
well, I had pretty decent gear, nothing phenominal, and the Warrior demon was pretty hard. I had to recast stoneskin quite often, and it was a drain on my MP. I noted that making a farming circle here is unlikely.
Next thing I know, Arhiman pops behind me and aggros, so I go to cast sleep, and it resists. Arhiman and WAR demon are beating on me, so i go to my Chainspell Escape Macro when i had 1/3 life.

Tried it as Rdm/blm (73/36 =P ), elvaan male here ^^ . I can finish 3 demons only within the 16 mins re-pop window of the Abriman =( . So I go back to Apple Pie's video to learn more from him ^^)b. The following improvements in strategy are noted:
(a) rebuff before every fight (i.e. stoneskin, blink, phalanx, haste, en-spell, ice-spike, refresh, regen), yes, even they are still on!!!
(b) concentrate on dealing damage during fight, minimize spell to reduce melee interruption;
(c) cast poison II to reduce the time required to kill ^^)b ;
(d) sleep elemental, they will vanish after the fight;
(e) Abriman cannot be silenced by me, dont bother it, just melee to interrupt its spell
(f) Demons can be silenced ^^)b.
(g) the centre of the room appears to be safe for fighting the demons;
(h) recast Protect IV and Shell IV after 16 mins round.
Its fun and I will try to improve my skill there ^^)b
*Note: I go there as rdm/blm simply because my thf is under-lvled =(
i found a good set of rings to use.... everyone (i think) posted using two Ruby Rings (Str +4). well, using the fun str = atk, that's 2 Atk.
now, atleast in my equipment, i think i'm pushing the STR "cap". so i was looking at the AH again the other day, and i noticed some level 56 rings, real cheap too
Tiger Ring
Atk +2, AGI +2
same attack bonus from the ruby ring, with the added bonus of agility
only cost me 5k apiece too
just thought i'd mention it to anyone else who uses rubies to up their attack
