When a mob uses nin 2hr, it dosen't die, just resets back to its spawn point. Very nasty.

If I remeber properly, at the 3rd stage of the Stoneskin formula, which you should be in, each point of +MND is +3 damage absorbed, while each point of +enhance is +1 damage aborbed. So the Promise Badge is worth 15 damage while Enhancing Torque is worth 7 damage. Even the easier to acquire Holy Phial would be better than the Enhancing Torque.
Of course, I would assume that the Stone Gorget would be better than either if the method of obtaining it has been discovered.

But shouldn't Promise Badge be preferable to the Enhancing Torque for casting Stoneskin?
1) The higher magic skill we have, the less we have our spell casting interrupted.
This can easily be proven. Compare our enfeebling magic to Ninjyutsu of /NIN.
For example, go to Batallia Downs and fight with Evil Weapons (LV36 - 38) as RDM74+/NIN37. Enfeebling and Enhancing magic spells are never interrupted how much damage you take while casting them but Ninjyutsus are often interrupted.
This is the same for NIN74+/RDM37, too. Their Ninjyutsus are never interrupted by these TW mobs but any spells belonging to /RDM are often interrupted.
I usually recast Stoneskin one or two times while fighting with both Arch and Blood Demons. I'm not sure how much +7 skill helps but even though I'm hit by their criticals while casting it, I successfully finish casting it most of the time now.
2) I want one more Orc Piercer.
If I bring Promise Badge with me, I have to spare two slots for neck gears since Enhancing Torque is also be used for Bar- spells, En- spells and Phalanx.

More offtopic.
No no, Justarus, it seems to be the Ahriman that copies and uses 2H of one of us charmed as far as I read some reports.
It actually did this to us, and we had to start beating it all over again... We had it under control, but then he used magic barrier (resist all magic for approx ~25 sec) and RIGHT after he starts casting firagaIII. Almost like cheating XD
We stunned one with smash axe from our war/nin (backup tank for when our nin was charmed) and our whm had great reflexes in throwing up barstonra for stonegaIII, then it wore off, stunned next one, then it barrierd AGAIN and used thundaga III. We died ;_;
It's still very fun. The ahriman uses the 2hr of the person he holds charmed ONLY, which means go easy on dmg when he has rdm, whm, nin or sam charmed. And when he charms nin, it's good to use barfira.
We had another loss, it was to watergaIII > charm nin > mijin gakure, all within 5 seconds. watergaIII 500dmg + mijin 850dmg = 1350 dmg in 5 seconds.
It's very dangerous, and you need a good plan, but it's VERY fun to test your skill and the drops are good. we got almost 9 milllion in drops from 3 orbs.
Good luck!ã?™ã??らã??ã?«ã?—ã?¦ã‚„ã‚‹

Yes, Copycat is probably the most fun BCNM I've ever done. Nothing like kiting the PLD when he gets charmed and is on you, and he resists both SleepII, Sleep, and Sleepga ><! Infact, the PLD raised his staff skill while chasing me around.. ::sweat:
I didn't know he used the 2hour of the person charmed though.. good thing in the 12 or so times I did it I wasn't charmed while he used his 2hr.. Chainspell + lv3 -ga spells wouldn't be fun Luckily, he seemed to use Invincible and Eagle Eye Shot more than any others.
Our drops were pretty nice though.. 5 Fuma Suna-ate [first one's on the server to get them I believe.. first sold for 5mil ], 3 Durandals, 1 Hoplites Harpe, a few Sorrowful Harps, and a ton of ingots from adaman to orich to damascus. ^^

<-- Shamelessly reviving old topic, for questions about own equips
Anyway, I think I've reached a level where I can safely solo in this place. I have not tried it at all by myself yet, but I was just getting the necessary levels and gear to do it. So.... here's what I have, and what I can affordably buy. There are things Grendal had or was getting back when this topic was started, that now are beyond my reach in terms of price.
Weapon: Joyeuse all the way.
Sub: I acquired a Genbu's Shield yesterday. I could buy a Spiked Bucker, but in my opinion, it's +5 attack and 15 DEF is nowhere near as useful as -10 Phy dmg, 24 DEF, and +10 evasion the Genbu gives. This shield was CREATED for those pesky Arch Demons :p
Head: I cast a lot during fights with EP-DC mobs, so I always use my AF hat for the fast cast enhancement. I find it helps me get stoneskin back up in between mob attacks. I also have Emporer Hairpin if that will be more useful for the +10 evasion. I can buy an Ogre Mask as well, but would the 10 evasion come in more handy?
Neck: Evasion torque is out of my range now. Unless I was planning on leveling NIN to high levels, I would not spend the 1 Mil+ on this. I'm sure it was much cheaper when Grendal bought it. I'll have to find something, as currently Mermans Gorget is my melee neck piece, and Grendal stated accuracy is not a problem. Maybe spirit torque.
Earrings: Dodge are 100k each. I suppose a couple of nights of farming could pay for these. I have 2x drones already... hmm. Tough call right now... maybe I'll look at what else is available.
Body: I dont feel like camping Ose. I have Narasimha's vest, and I find it looks good on Taru, so I'll stick with it.
Gloves: I only have AF gloves for melee right now. I've been wanting to upgrade but nothing is catching my eye, except maybe Dusk (2.5-3.5 million per piece) +4DEX is nice, along with the added parry skill.
Rings: Right now I have 2x Sun rings for +6 STR total. I think I may buy a Fencer ring, and eventually I'm going to get a Jelly ring. In the meantime, I might upgrade at least one Sun to a ruby.
Back: Amemet Mantle (NQ): +1 version is at 1.4 million. Perhaps in the future I will have the Gil to upgrade but I like having at least a 1 million buffer at all times, and I'm at 1.3 million right now.
Waist: I use life belt, but again, if accuracy against these mobs is not an issue, I can switch to Swordbelt +1.
Legs: Using AF legs right now. I've been debating getting Feral trousers, but never any for sale. AF also gives the enhancing bonus that brings my enspells to the +18 dmg range. I'd like to farm while doing as little equipment swapping as possible. Cant hold as much stuff if my inventory is full with equips.
Feet: Crimson Greaves. They have really high defence, and +3dex/agi, + extra HP/MP. Cant really complain about that, and dont see any reason to upgrade here.
In ammo slot, I see Grendal just uses Phantom tathlum, I could stick with this, or I could add in Lightning bow for the +2 dex. Not sure if this will help me at all.
I've been working a long time to get gear for stuff like this. I'm hoping what I have/will acquire is sufficient. My only worry is that I am not giving myself enough +att bonus to kill quick enough. Maybe the fact that I will be using Joyeuse will compensate for lower attack? Any comments from veteran Zvahl farmers? Apple Pie, if you still browse here, can you give me some advice? I'd really appreciate it, and thanks for making this topic to begin with.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

That sounds like a very good setup to me Gman.
I personally use dance shoes or ogre boots (dance shoes for arch demons) I use the mermans gorget for my neck. I would consider the spirit or evasion torques also.
As far as gloves go i would grab carapice +1 if you are in the yellow with less than 100 tp you get +9 att and +34 defense total in my opinion that can not be beat. Considering that you will be using fencers ring anyway and the latents are triggered almost the same way.
Warwolf belt is also a nice option for you waist slot.
I use a lightining bow +1 for the extra dex.
All in all your stated gear along with food (I have been experimenting with carbonara for +18% att and a hefty hp bonus so I will have more hp when my latents kick in) you should easily be able to solo in this area. Certainly your taru mp pool with compensate for slightly lower attack and str than others races.

How are the drop rates for everyone? It seems a bit low for me- I've been there about 5 times and though I love this place because it's not infested by gil sellers, the profit seems greater in the areas that do have those bastards. Even with /THF they often don't drop anything.. maybe 1-2 demon horns in an hour.
And.. am I the only one that has heart attacks from the Ahrimans? I had the pleasure once of getting Max MP down, and 2 III -aga spells consecutively without it being interrupted by Paralyze or my hits.

Demon horns are up to 17k each on my server, so 2 per hour would at least make it worth my while to make the trip there. Maybe you were just unlucky with your drops Mytician, as others here have reported fairly good drops, and we've seen Apple Pie's screenshots showing all the loot he got. If you went on low moon phase, drops are lessened. Full moon is prime for drops from what I've seen.
As for the double -ga3 spells... ouch
I think I'm going to cap out my sword skill, and my THF sub, then head out there to make some gil. By the way, has anyone tried stealing from the Demons or Ahrimans? I know you can steal Ahriman tears from the ones in Rangemont pass and Beadecine, same for these I take it? What (if anything) can you steal from demons?
One more question. I dont have savage blade yet. What WS do you recommend against these?FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

Well, after 3 trips to Castle Zvahl to farm, here are my thoughts.
-There are 3 Dark Elemental spawns in the first area, and if its dark weather, it is most efficient to stick around here until the dark weather is gone. 5k/cluster, with up to 2-3 clusters dropping from each element is just too sweet not to take advantage of.
-The Yagudo room was where I dropped down, and like Apple Pie mentioned, there are always a Blood Demon (WAR) and a Doom Demon (BLM), with the other 2 spots being either Arch (DRK) or Abyssal (SMN).
-The easiest ones by far are the Doom and Abyssal. Since they are mage-type, they are weak, and go down fast. The blood demon is a war type, attacking with a sword. Not a big issue if you blind, paralyze and slow, but he can still sometimes hit hard. The Arch demons can be easy or REALLY annoying. Bio 3 is an absolute pain in the ass. 11hp/tick and sometimes lasts several minutes. Eats stoneskin very fast, and those guys hit hard when they connect. Luckily with a bit of evasion gear and blind, they miss a lot. These are the only ones I've actually had to sleep part way through fight to regain my composure and reapply stoneskin, etc.
-Ahrimans are not tough at all. I was afraid of fighting these, but they do very little damage (except eyes on me) and they have low HP. Too bad the drops from them have been garbage so far. Do they ~really~ drop Ahriman wings?
-Drops the first trip were really good. Got 3 Orc Piercers, 4 Shell busters, 2 Yagudo freezers, and some dark clusters. Second trip I got 2 demon horns, and a few orc piercers, but drops were pretty slow. Demon horns are 25k EACH on my server right now, so getting a few of those makes your day.
-Regarding gear, I've been trying to grab a pair of Dance Shoes. I love my Crimson Boots, but demons intimidate me with them on, and I just cant have that. Way too risky, especially if I need to land an important silence, or finish one off.
-When farming here, or course coffer keys drop like rain. Too bad I can never locate the coffer chest.
Overall, I like this place. I've made over 100k in my first few visits here, and it has potential for much more, especially if I get lucky with demon horns. On top of that, my shield and parry skills have gone up at least 2 levels each, and I've gained about 1.5k exp. (25-32 exp per kill)
Just wanted to share my experience on this for others interested in checking it out.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner

sometimes drops are awesome. i got 4 demon horns, a wing, 3 npc sell items, and a coffer popped in my room minutes after i got a key and i got 10k from it. all that happened in an hour. other times im lucky to get 2 demon horns in 3 hours.
id say on avg i get like 40k an hour here. sometimes better sometimes worse.

However, my numbers are nowhere near yours. I'm Taru and 1 level lower, but wtf?
My fast blade (74rdm/34thf) was doing anywhere from 100-175 dmg, average maybe 140. Savage blade does (ive seen as low as 90, but only a couple of times) low 150, high 300, average about 200. My attack is about 375 with food. Why is yours doing so much more dmg? What factors calculate Savage blade dmg?
BTW, my highest Savage blade so far was a 300TP one on an Evil Eye in Castle Zvahl, no food, did 630 dmg.FFXIV: ARR - Leviathan Server - 50 Bard, 47 Dragoon, 50 All crafts, 48 Botany, 48 Miner
