I just had this idea, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it.

What do you think of purchasing an Enhancing Sword. make a macro that goes somewhat along the lines of...

If we did do this do we still have the benefits from having an Enhancing Sword equiped when casting a En-line spell on another sword?

I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that the Sword Enhancement: Spell Damage+ 5 only applies to the hits from the enhancing sword and not from a weapon in the other hand. If that is true then that would make me think that switching swords would not work. Obviously I have no proof of this since I'm not lvl 70 yet and even if I was I dont think I would be able to afford a 8 million gil sword.

I just remembered where I read that, it was something some one posted about the buzzard tuck on allakhazam.com. I'm pretty sure I tested that when I had my buzzard tuck and yes it only applies to that sword. Since its written the same way on both buzzard tuck and enhancing sword, I would assume that it is the same thing and that casting enblizzard and then switching swords would not work.

The + damage for en-spells used with an Enhancing Sword only works if you have the Enhancing Sword equipped. When I solo, I dual-weild a Joyeuse and an Enhancing Sword, and you will notice the en-spells from Joyeuse doing say, 17dmg, while the en-spells from Enhancing Sword do 22dmg.

What about the attack? I thought Enhancing Sword also raised attack as well as en-spell damage.

It does, but it's kind of hard to notice. I have alot of +atk gear, +18 from Assault Jerkin, +10 from Ogre Ledelsens, +15 from Amemit Mantle +1, then the +16 from Enhancing Sword. What's funny is there willbe times when my Joyeuse will outhit my Enhancing Sword, and other times when it's vice versa.. on the same monster. =\

I just did a simple test to see if the +atk from the latent on Enhancing Sword effects total attack..

lv75RDM/NIN - No Equip.
With either Joyeuse or Enhancing Sword equipped: Attack 273
With both equipped, in either slot: Attack 273
With Enhancing Sword in Main, Joyeuse in Sub w/ Enwater: Attack 289
With Joyeuse in Main, Enhancing Sword in Sub w/ Enwater: Attack 289

Take note that my sword is at 236 because I've been too lazy to skill it up since I got Evisceration \=

The attack on enhancing sword is a latent affect so I would assume it wouldn't work if not equiped either. Kinda like the level 30 earing, if you took those off after you switched sub they wouldn't work.

On a slightly different subject, I'm currently working on caping all WS at level 56. I've capped sword and about 6 points from capping dagger but after I get everything capped I don't want to have to join pts every time I want to cap them. My plan was to solo robber crabs in kuftal till cap every time I lvl. My two questions are is this the best place to go for around 176-200 and what should I sub when doing this? If its not the best place to go where is better and when and where should i go after that? For sub I was thinking ninja or maybe blm for aspir, which is better?

Robber Crabs (LV60 - LV63) may be a little hard for RDM56 since you'll see some of them are VT. If you still wanna try that place, I think it's safe to sub NIN.

Oh yeah was thinking of them only being tough as 60 blm. Where is good at 56?

I used to go to Monastic Cavern until LV58 because it's close to Jeuno. Orcish Warchief (- LV59) and Zerker (- LV58) will be good. Only problem is Warchiefs sometimes resisted Sleep/Sleep II because they are PLD and they have resist sleep trait.

I was just going to try beetles(wish I could sleep bats) in Garlaige Citadel, think the cavern is better or are they about the same?

Chamber Beetles? Ahh, haven't thought of them but they look perfect for RDM56 if there's no XP PT around.

I just capped dagger to 176 on chamber beetles. They were fairly easy and a lot of fun to solo with ninja sub and dual wielding hornetneedle and beestinger. Energy steal and now energy drain is really helpfull since it just makes me last longer not kill the beetle faster. They were perfect for skill up, at least untill this pt came and camped right on top of me. :mad: I'm not sure if these will last till 58 since about half of them are even match at 56 so I might have to try the orcs like you suggested. At 59 Ill just move to kuftal tunnel and that should get me to maybe 63 I'm thinking.
