I remember my title was always "Fang" around LV50s

Well, I often went to Beaucedine Glacier running around I-8 to I-9 of the map. There are a lot of Tundra Tigers there as well as Stone Golems sometimes dropping Mithril Ore. Golems may be hard but Tigers are easy.

Also, there are two Ice Elementals at OP. We often see snowstorm there and have a lot of chance to get ice clusters.

Hehe, sounds like what I've been doing, just not in Beaucedine Glacier yet. Thanks. ^_^

Apple pie youve advised me enough that I owe you and everyone here a tip:

Cockatrice (100% from personal experience) and Ahriman (95% sure, a LS member swears on it) Petrification Skills are Eye-Contact moves. If you turn around before it uses it you cannot be petrified. So if youre 70 or 75, stay unlocked onto your target and as soon as it readies it flick your character around and you will avoid the Petrification. This also works on some enemies with "Doom" abilities on higher level missions/NMs. I heard a rumor it even works on the Death Abilities of certain Dynamis enemies. I fell down into the level 70+ area when I was looking for Zhval Keep when I was going to fight Shadow Lord again for some people. Im 99% sure they dont have True Sight, either that or I got lucky.

Hmm, I need to check this after I reach LV75 but I remember all my PT members surrounding ahrimans got petrified.

I know we can avoid Mind Break (Max MP Down) and hypnotism (Sleep) by that movement.

Level 5 petricfication is just that I believe. All of us at lvl 60(getting keys) got hit by it even though the eye wasn't facing everyone. Unless it only matter that you look at the mob, and not if it's facing you at all.

            Be like a Paladin.
Take the hit, shrug it off, and ask if their mom hits any harder.

Ahriman's Level 5 Petrify is circular area effect. The direction you are facing does not matter, only your level and distance.

Cockatrice and Lizard's Petrify (as well as some other gaze type effects like Hex Eye from Hecteyes, or Mortal Ray from Tyrannotaurs in Ulegeurand Range) can be avoided by turning away, but unfortunately this does not work against Level 5 Petrify. It does work against Hypnotism and Mind Break, as noted by Apple Pie above. You have to be pretty quick to turn away in time, though, those abilities have pretty fast charge-up timers.

On a related note, has anyone tested Barstone/Barstonra vs. Petrification effects to see if they help?

                Ëq question

Just a quick question, how does assault jerkin compare to narasimhas?
I know that the acc isn't all that useful (vs EP's), however, +18 atk should be plenty to rejoice over.

Is the loss of evasion to much, or could it work well?
I'm having a bit of trouble finishing them in time... I think it's gear related tho. (I hope it is!)

                How much difference does the rings add? I'm currently just letting my electrums stay on, on account of no more macro spaces ;_;

I think what's important here isn't which armor to take but how much attack and evasion we can get from all my gears.

                  For example, I have Narasimha's Vest for body and Sword Belt +1 for waist. Therefore, I get +3 STR, +3 VIT, +4 accuracy, +4 evasion and +13 attack (12 + 1 because +3 STR = +1 attack).

If I have Assault Jerkin instead of Narasimha's Vest, I will get Survival Belt (+5 Evasion) for waist. As a result, I have +3 accuracy, +18 attack and +5 evasion.

Abyssal and Doom Demons are weak and we don't have to care about our evasion very much but Arch and Blood Demons are hard. Without enough evasion boost, we have to recast stoneskin several times and this slows us down iventually.

Joyeuse tremendously helps us to farm them faster but poorly equipped RDMs still have hard time killing an ahriman and these 4 demons in 16 minutes even with it. Some attack and evasion boosts are necessary, I think.

It's all about killing stuff in style. I personally saved up for a harness since I absolutely cant stand the Vest or Jerkin "look". Have an Enhancing Sword? Better have a Gold Sword+1 in your off hand. Joyeuse? Verdun plz. Misericorde/Hornet Needle. Some stuff should go without saying! :spin: :spin: :spin: :spin:

I personally dont like Carapace look and the fact it seems to activate 5% less hp than fencer's ring, so I use the following as my melee gear

                    Main: Joyeuse
                    Sub: Genbu
                    Head: Pimp Hat +1
                    Neck: Reraise Gorget
                    Body: Harness
                    Hands: Pimp Gloves
                    Waist: Sword Belt
                    Legs: Pimp Pants +1
                    Boots: Crimson Boots
                    Back: Amemit Mantle
                    Earrings: Supp, Dodge Earring
Rings: Fencer Ring + Jelly Ring

some equipment I found while looking at Allakalakamam's RDM equipemtn list

Dusk Jerkin 72 Def: 50 HP: 40 Accuracy: 2 (Regen) Movement Speed: -1
                    Dusk Ledelsens 72 Def: 23 HP: 25 Attack: 4 Haste: 2% Movement Speed: -1
                    Dusk Gloves 72 Def: 24 Attack: 5 Haste: 3% Movement Speed: -1
Dusk Trousers 72 Def: 47 HP: 35 Movement Speed: -1 Ranged Accuracy: 10 Attack: 14

seems like dusk set. is that the "ideal" RDM farming equipment with the +haste, but over 1M a peice.

Also, some "value" items I think should be good (prices may vary)
                    ~1k Belt: Mithran Stone 65 Def: 5 Accuracy: 3 Evasion: 3
                    ~10k gloves: Light Gauntlets 57 Def: 15 HP: 5 STR: 3 VIT: 3
                    ~30k back: Dodge Cape 49 Def: 4 Evasion: 5
                    ~8k rings: Tiger Ring 59 Def: 3 AGI: 2 Attack: 2

After farming there for two weeks (two hours everyday), I'm now ready to buy Dusk Ledelsens but it is out of stock for days because it is popular among some of high-end DRKs and WARs. I know it looks ugly on tarus but +14 attack from leggings is really nice.

i just got level 73 and i tried it with level 35 thf sub. was a lot of fun. but i can't clear the whole room in 16 min. i can only clear out the demons and kill them as they pop.

i think i really need to skill up my sword and evasion.

sword is 232 and evasion is 201. is there any where i can solo skill up? and if so what subjob should i use?

Try Steelshells (LV73 - 76) in the Boyahda Tree. They are all EM to T from LV73. As we know, crabs are easy. You can sub either BLM or DRK for Aspir and Drain. You can easily cap both your sword and evasion skills here to the end.

You don't always need to clear the entire room. Only concentrate on 4 demons first. Do ahrimans only if you have some extra time and MP.

You'll make some good money and start to upgrade your melee gears. Then come back there again and again. Someday, you'll find you're already strong enough to wipe all of them out in 16 minutes. That's what I've experienced. It's always fun to see myself growing strong.

                          Good Luck.

What do you think about using a Viking Shield?

I think it's good. Getting +12 atk from the shield is impressive. Well, I just don't like its cheap looking and don't feel like purchasing one. I'm using Spiked Buckler instead.

As long as our weapon skills are capped, we aren't in trouble with accuracy since they are all EPs. Concentrate on boosting both attack and evasion.

My thoughts exactly. However, it's funny how I never see Bloodtear anymore as my RDM, but everytime I'm running to valk. Dunes with a low level job he kills me What is up with that *sigh*
