Snafu-SI, I think it depend on what you're going to have for other parts. You should focus on how much attack, evasion and status bonus you get in all.

For example, I have +53 attack, +7 evasion skill and +16 evasion. Average damage is 67.0 - 70.0 with Chiefkabob and evasion is 50.0 - 53.0%. I have no problem dealing with 4 demons and have 2 to 3 minutes for resting before next Ahriman shows up.

Therefore, it is safe to say you'll have no problem if you achieve these numbers (50+ attack and 20+ evasion) here whatever gears you're going to have.

I haven't used Musketeer Commander's Shield yet but if you already have enough attack or evasion, I guess you can go with it.

Oh, I forgot to mention this. Having THF30+ sub is nice because you get another evasion bonus. You don't really need to level it to 37 unless you hate underleveled sub (I hate it, haha).

Yeah, my sub was only 25 so I went and bought all the gear to lvl it up to 30. Once I hit 30 I had SATA so I had to keep on leveling it up. I hit 33 and said, okay one more level and I get mug so I hit 34. After I hit 34 we wanted to ding someone else to 35 so we did that. Well I was only 1k tnl so I HAD to ding 35 also. After 35, I just said you know what, screw it just bring it to 37 and sell all my gear back and now I'm at 37. So I went 25 >> 37 in about 4 days.

Yes I'm obsessed with gimped sub jobs. I can't stand people who have them so I would be a hypocrite if I had a gimped subjob myself.

So Apple Pie, what food are you eating? I noticed you mentioned chiefkabobs. Do those have a limit on how much attack it adds? I was thinkin of curry too, but those are like 6k each.

I've been eating Chiefkabob since the update.

I tried Yellow Curry today. It lasted 3 hours and I got 420 attack. It's a little better (+15 or so) than Chiefkabob but spending 7.5K on foods for farming is ridiculous. I'll stick to Chiefkabob.

As for the food effect, you may wanna check this nice website.
          http://home.comcast.net/~firebirdjim/ffxi/food.htm (found on PLD's forum)

          Let me compare these.

          Meat Chiefkabob: STR+5, AGI+1, INT-2, Attack+22% (Cap +65)
          Yellow Curry: STR+5, VIT+2, AGI+3, INT-2, Attack+20% (Cap +75)

I have around 350 attack without food. So, when I eat the former,

          1) 350 x 1.22 = 427
          2) 427 - 350 = 77 > Cap +65
          3) 340 + 65 = 405

I have 405 attack. Then, when I eat the latter,

          1) 350 x 1.20 = 420
          2) 420 - 350 = 70 < Cap +75
          3) = 420

Therefore, Yellow Curry is a little better because it has a higher limit although Chiefkabob has higher increasing rate (%).

well curry is going for about 7k each, chiefkabobs are 20k per stack. It will take 4 curries to equal a stack of kabobs since curry last 3 hours, and kabobs are 1 hour each. So you are comparing 28k to 20k. 7k difference for 12 hours worth of farming, to get 15 more attack and 2 more VIT and 2 more AGI isn't so bad.

The only thing I dont like about it, is that lets say you do this for 1 hour, then your LS needs you for something, well this thing is stuck on you for another 2 hours unless you take anti-acid. Also if you die, bye bye 7k gil and exp.

I think if you are having trouble killing them and can benefit from that extra attack go ahead and get the curry, otherwise the chiefkabobs are a great choice. Thanks for the stats Pie.

Oh man, last night I had my first near deaht experience. This eye casts Sleep II onto me, and starts hitting away so I thought, hey I'll take stoneskin down so he can wake me up.

He goes and casts flare. Baam, did like 550 dmg on me, I had about 300 HP left. Then does all eyes on me, for another 200 + THEN!!! does lvl 5 petrification. Luckily, petrify didn't last very long and I healed myself up really quick, but having less than 100 HP was fricken scary.

Anyhow it shows you that although farming here can be rather easy at times, you'll get your unlucky eye that will just work you. But during the 1 hour there, I got 3 orc piercers, 4 shellbusters, a yagudo freezer, ice pact, 2 demon horns and 12k gil from a coffer. About 90k worth of stuff I think.

                That sounds frightening

Yes, I was killed several times when I was around LV71 - LV73. Sleepga -> Stonga III / Ancient, I really hate it.

By the way, I strongly recommend you always dispel Blazespike because Ahrimans seem to like recasting it. So, if you're lucky, you only see them casting it in entire battle.

Well, I hate BioIII most. When I hit by both BioIII and PoisongaII, I'm losing something like 20HP per tick... -15% ATK down is very noticable.

                  The fan farming!

Well, to me, arch demons are the worst, since they hit hard and like to use bio and aspir.

I've started stacking bioII and poisII on them, to kill faster and to lower their dmg.

This is a bit offtopic, but grendel-san, have you tried the new "Copycat" bc? It's versus an ahriman type mob, that charms your PT members, then charms a new one every 25-30 sec.

On top of this, the ahriman can use the 2hr of the person currently charmed, so if you knock it into 2hr while nin is charmed... ;_; Mijin gakure *_*

This makes for a very funny fight, and on top of this he likes to cast -aga3 type magic, just like ahrimans in zvahl. Only these are from a T mob, so they hurt more.

The drops we got includes 2 hoplites harpe, 2 fuma sune-ate, damascus ingot, orichalchum ingot, 2 adaman ingot, durandal and some others.

I don't think I have ever laughed as hard as I did first time we lost, our drk got charmed and came running for me, and killed me with greatsword, hihihi XD

                  Attaching a picture of me being REALLY debuffed by arch demon- That's bio3, poison2, absorb dex, absorb str, absorb mnd all at once. I could barely hurt him ;_;

I heard of this BCNM by Sekaran and I tried to ask our LS leader to do it last week but after I saw some reports of this BCNM, I didn't. They're all saying, "Don't take NIN, RDM, RNG, SAM and SMN with you because their 2H will kill you all."

Well, I feel like trying it out after reading your post. Grrrrr..... I may call 4 BST to help me out because their 2H isn't harmful though I don't know if this works.

As for the picture, oh my god... I usually cast Silence at the beginning of the fight but it sometimes wears off very soon. What I cannot understand is casting time of Bio III and Poisonga II. It's too fast, nothing but a cheat. They are LV3 and LV2 spells. How can they be casted faster than our fast-cast Silence

                      Lol,

So basically, we're just too tough to bring on this one?

I get a kick out of that, even though I know its true.

                      • why not use your 2hrs before going in? Does the charm reset all timers? I know in dynamis everyonce in a while your timers are reset as a bonus/reward.

                        • No no, Justarus, it seems to be the Ahriman that copies and uses 2H of one of us charmed as far as I read some reports.

                          DrSerpico, am I correct?

If Ahriman really copies our 2H, it must be awful. We'll probably get hit by a shower of LVIII ga spells, LV4 spells and ancient spells... :p

How will NIN 2HR kill you all. Won't it be dead after it uses it? Surely it can only kill one of you with it.

                            • Yes I hate arch demons. Sometimes after 3 hits I'll have to recast stoneskin. Those guys I save all my MP and totally debuff them. The rest I dont really do much but cast silence and blind.

I think BioIII is the spell I hate the most, it does good DOT and makes you hit like a wimp. It was funny, I was farming the other day and this coffer party comes up and asks if I needed help killing them b/c I tend to kill them with about 60% health or less. They soon realized that I was killing these things just as fast as they could have and ended up asking to me help them get a key. hahaha oh man what satisfaction.

Suppose a NIN tank is killed by his 2H used by Ahriman. Who's going to tank after that? In most BCNMs requring tanks, the whole PT is usually ruined if a tank is killed by accident unless we can force NMs to stay with Bind and Gravity.

                                EDIT:

I didn't carefully look at it. My apologies.

                                Well, they say it won't.
