    Apple Pie +1

First off I would like to thank you for posting information on such a great farming place. I went there tonight with some randomly put together gear and a sub enough for TH1 and tested out the waters so to speak. So far so good. I can see the great potential this place have even if I didnt get much tonight. Hopefully when I return there with a not so random gear I might be able to get even more gil. The replies from the other posters in this thread (sorry, too many to list) has also been very informative. While fighting those demons I was constantly blinded making dual bat earrings a VERY good choice for the ear slot. This also might solve my problem of having my stoneskin dying within a few hits. Casting Bio II slightly improves the situation making the stoneskin last longer, but not much longer I'm afraid.

Next up is ahriman. I only got a chance to fight it once and it was pretty tough. However its nothing that a decent RDM couldnt handle. Lv5 Petrify only lasted a shortwhile, but the damn thing started casting Burst while I was petrified. Im sure I can handle this mob easily the next time around.

Once again I'd like to thank everyone for ending my gil drought. Hopefully I'll be almost as rich as some of you in the near future.

Kind of curious, with the demons blinding you contantly would it be worth it to buy echo drops? With them being EP can you still hit them fairly acurately or do you start missing a lot then even with caped skills? I imagine if you can still hit them fairly consistantly even with blind it would actually be more of a help with the bat earings right?

Also, I don't have time to go back and look right now but I think you said you use the evasion torque right? Which is actually better, the evasion skill from evasion torque or the evasion from spirit torque? When i hit 65 I plan on spending a lot of time farming for elemental, enfeebling, dark, healing, enhancing and either evasion or spirit torques so I'm wondering which is actually better. I assume the evasion skill is better since its a lot more rare to find evasion skill on items but can anyone tell me for sure?

Hey apple do you mind posting the video again?
Here's the new one I recorded yesterday.
        http://www5.sppd.ne.jp/grendal/FF11/farm_zvahl.wmv

In the first 14 minutes, I got a Demon Horn, Yagudo Freezer and Orc Piercer - Total 25K worth.

Sounds good. The reason I like this place is because I can use the room like my private room. Noone bothers me.

Sometimes, Zvahl Baileys is crowded with coffer key PTs and other farmers. In this case, I don't go because drops seem to be worse.

I guess you mention eye drops, not echo drops. Well, no, you don't need them at all. Although you're blinded, accuracy is still 90+%. I rather recommend you take advantage of it with 2x Bat Earring if you have some problem with your evasion.

As for evasion skill vs evasion, I have no idea but think of the relationship between weapon skill and accuracy. From LV1 to LV60, 1 weapon skill = 1 accuracy and from LV61 to LV75, 1 weapon kill = approximately 0.9 accuracy. If evasion also follows this theory, 1 evasion skill must be equal to 0.9 evasion and Evasion Torque is slightly better. Not a big differece anyway. Just buy whichever you like.

I'm very interested in trying to farm this area when my jobs are the correct levels, but I think my regular evasion skill is pretty low (184 or so I believe). Grendal (or anyone else), do you know which type of mobs I can try to solo that will allow me to get good evasion skill ups without too much trouble (non double attack mobs or 1-hit high damage special moves)

Also, would subbing thief allow for faster evasion skill ups, or would that slow me down?

If you're LV70 now, Orcish Champion (LV69 - Lv72) in Monastic Cavern (the one in the deepest part where you did Genkai 3 quest) should be perfect.

Eat def+ food. Cast Phalanx and Stoneskin on yourself. He'll raise your evasion skill to the cap in 3 minutes while you're only taking 0 damage due to Phalanx and Stoneskin. MNK-type mobs are hard for NINs but easiest for RDMs.

As for your sub, I'm afraid if there's no difference between subs. The best sub should be WAR because you can use Defender to further increase your defence.

At 70, would Orcish Champions also be the best target to skill up weapons on? Or are they just the best for skilling up Evasion?

As a matter of fact, I was camping at that place (check the image attached) to skill up my weapons for some time until I started to go to Ru'Aun Gardens at LV72.

Among any orcs here, champs are the easiest and they should be the best target to skill up weapons. On the other hand, dragoons are hard and protectors are annoying (resist sleep).

Ive been trying to skill-up lately. Dagger at 93.4, Evasion at 125. Sword is at 151 (High enough that I can skill it in Coffer PTs with +ACC stuff on, still 50% hit rate at best but enough to get the skillups in). I have no clue where/how to raise evasion. Dagger im killing in Yuthunga til 95-97ish, then to Yhoator. I tried the Opo-Opo's at the entrance inside Uggilapeph for Evasion but very little luck so far. (suprisingly I got almost 2 full levels of Parrying Skill in only 15 minutes, and thats WITHOUT the Parrying Skill AF)

                      Grendal,

I noticed you used Dodge Earrings for maximizing evasion -- I was wondering though, wouldn't Drone Earrings (+3AGI) be good as well? My understanding was that AGI not only affected evasion but also chance of shield blocks and parries, and given that you're using a shield...

What are your thoughts? Maybe you could post an ffrep screenshot of the difference between the two? :spin:

In general, +2 AGI is said to be equal to +1 evasion. I'm not confident of this and there isn't any way we can confirm this because we aren't able to see the number.

As for the relationship between AGI and chance to shield-block and parry, I saw sekaran mentioned somewhere on another thread. I haven't confirmed this yet as well but it's worth trying anyway. I'm going to bring two Drone Earrings instead of two Dodge Earrings next time I go there.

I'm a little busy this week but I promise to post the comparison here by the end of this week.

Crazy crazy CRAZY question: I was thinking about the MNK Thing for skill-up and remembered the person XPing solo on mandys in Yuthunga/Yhoator. I was wondering if:
                          1. At 53 RDM could I solo Yagudo Sentinel's (Yagudo MNKs, level 51-56)?
                          2. If the Answer to #1 is yes, where are they located? I have never seen the DC-T area of Oztroja, only seen coffer mobs and then 42-47 ones.
                          3. If I waited til level 60 to do my Oztroja coffer, could I solo the 62-66 Yagudo Coffer MNKs? I would probably need to stick to the 62-63 ones, but would that be do-able? I'm worried about links/aggro because there are very few safe spots in Oztroja where the coffer mobs are and the beastmen are always found in clusters. Wouldnt that be funny running through Oztroja with a PT of 6 level 65+'s, all in full AF, some even relic/abjuration pieces, and you see a Taru soloing a Coffer Mob in only pre-60 armor like Brigdaine/Tact Magician Coat? Im laughing just thinking about the possibility.

Edit: Pre-Joyeuse/Enhancing-Sword/KrakenClub levels (Dont start the "Which is better arguement" anyone) would Bloody Rapier be a good Dual Wield choice at 55-60 with a Wise Wizard Anelace? I almost have my alchemy to the point I can make Hp Drain stuff (requires level 80+ Alchemy) and I can make myself one soon. My friend says the HP Drain Effect kicks in every 3rd or 4th hit, and usually drains 25-40 HP. At 56-60 my best WS will be Spirits Within and the HP from the Bloody Rapier would held reduce MP spent on cures and keep my HP up more consistently for Spirits Within WS. Good or Bad? Sword and Shield? WW Anelace and Shield? 2 WW Anelace's? or WW Anelace and a Bloody Rapier?

                          Windurst Rank 10. ZM14. CoP M5-2.

                            1) Yes.

                            2) You'll start to see them after you go through the second gate.

                            3) Yes, you can but there isn't any good place you can safely solo them. The cipher room is nice but you need one more person to open the door from the inside.

As for the last question, I think it depends on mobs you're fighting with. To solo EM - T, I like R.G Fleuret for +6 accuracy. To farm TW - EP, I like W.W Anelace for +14 attack because I don't have to worry about accuracy.

I haven't tried Bloody Rapier yet but if the drain effect often kicks in, it's nice to have it as your sub weapon. You may want to bring it to Ballista to see how it works

Well, I recommend you not use it as your main weapon because your Fast Blade is weakened by the weapon with less base damage.

Assuming /check works in Ballista, couldn't it be tested there by manipulating +AGI and +evasion equipment at one of the high/low evasion boundaries? Of course, you and the /check partner would have to be undisturbed for some time.

I think it could be done in the same way we measure accuracy. Right now, /check only tells us

                                1) how many petras they have.
                                2) whether they achieve "Gate Breach" status or not.

Well, I'm afraid if S-E doesn't want to make it work because if it really works, I guess most people don't play the game but start to do some experiments there
