Back from skill-up PT at Ru'Aun Gardens. The skill went up from 180 to 204 in 2.4 hours.

Well, for some of you who want to train your archery skill, I strongly recommend you eat Sushi, especially Squid Sushi. We know it boosts accuracy but it does boost ranged accuracy, too.

Light Elementals (LV78 - 79) we farmed for skill-up were either Tough or Very Tough but ranged accuracy of mine was 76.5% (452 / 591). It's not bad, is it? When I go there again next time, I'm sure it's going to be 80+% since the skill starts from 204.

Once it's capped, I'll try RDM/RNG to spam Sidewinder (As shown on the movie, it easily does 1,000+ damage even with my poor equipment) at Ballista.

Our archery skill cap is D but how about their evasion? Most of them has C or lower skill cap. We have no problem.

Squid Sushi 20k/stack on my server. Each piece lasts 30 minutes only. But that hasnt stopped me from XPing with it in dunes on my RNG. Archery is at 34. I may try going to raise my archery with my RDM on the Tier-3 goblins in Valkrum, then the Qufim worms, this way so that its capped when I level up for the next few levels.

          Squid Sushi BTW:
          +ACC
          +RACC
          +30 HP
          +6 DEX
          +5 AGI

About sushi: does Carp Sushi also raise Ranged Accuracy? It's hard to find information on it.

It seems that no one has really checked if Carp Sushi raises RAcc but it is rumored that it doesn't because it doesn't belong to the same category although it is named, "-Sushi" as well.

By the way, after I played with AATT to raise my archery skill (204 -> 206) for an hour (kicked out once and enter the BC again.), I attended to both LV60-capped (Meriphataud) and uncapped Ballista (Jugner) as RDM/RNG.

I ate Broiled Pipira (HQ Roast Pipira) because someone reported it boosted both RAcc and RAtk. Anyway, here are some statistics.

              [LV60-capped]
              RAcc: 74.2% (49 / 66)
              Avg. Damage: 60.4

              [Uncapped]
              RAcc: 69.8% (37 / 53)
              Avg. Damage: 59.7

Sidewinder never missed the target with less than 150% TP at the LV60-capped match. It did 349.7 points of damage on the average (Highest 378, Lowest 321). Compared to our sword WS, it is much stronger, isn't it? I usually see only two digit numbers with Fast Blade and we don't have Vorpal Blade till we hit LV62.

However, I had some problem at the uncapped match. I needed around 170 - 200% TP to ensure it doesn't miss the target. It once took 414 points of damage away from one of enemy RDMs. SE + Vorpal Blade may do better but we don't need to come close to the target with Sidewinder.

I may try Squid Sushi next time because it seems to raise more R.Acc. Well, I have to join in skill-up PT one more time anyway because the skill is still 4 points behind the cap  I also want Mighty Bow but it's around 3M here. I think I have to camp at that Castle again.

Grendal, ummm, whats Ballista like on your server? On our server even the level 60 ones its impossible to get anything done. Every job there is NIN/something, BRD, or RNG (always using Sleep Arrow/Bolts). Everytime I try to go and do something there, Im the only mage job there with the occasional BLM using Sleepga spells as the exception. The whole name of the game is Sleeping. No one lets people duel and no one uses teamwork. NA and JP, it doesnt matter, everyone just plays the Sleep game.

On Gilgamesh server, we only have LV60-capped and uncapped matches because noone seems to be interested in LV50-capped and lower ones. Yesterday, we had 67 people at Jugner Forest.

As Gman said, everyone brings Poison Portions. I use around 12 - 14 of them in one match. We always have 1 or 2 BRDs singing Fowl Aubade on us. This song makes any sleep spells useless. Some of them also sing Operettas that make Silence useless. As a result, sleeping isn't an issue here.

Neither is NIN/xxx nor xxx/NIN. Shadows can easily removed by Banishga, Sleepga and Horde Lullaby. I don't usually use Diaga because it gives them free poisons for one minute but I sometimes use it when I confirm they all use poison portions. In fact, not all attackers sub NIN here. Those who sub it basically want some damage boosts on their WS (Rampage, Vorpal Blade, etc.) from DW. We have top 3 attackers anyone respect and they are either MNK/WAR or WAR/MNK (he has various subs such as /RNG and /WHM).

Sounds still...totally not like my server lol. Everyone is /NIN if theyre melee. Some BRDs even use it because people like to target them to get them out of the way for a minute or two. And as for BRDs using Barspells on his team...like I said, no teamwork on my server. I want to see a western shoot-out Ballista where everyone lines up and there's a pre-set "Dueling Order" and one pair duels and when theyre both done, the dead one runs to his line from the restart point and the living one returns to his line spot and heals to full. Then the next duelists step up and begin.

I saw a duel once like this before in a video...Ballista would be 1000x better that way.

I attended to LV60-capped at Jugner as RDM/RNG again today (Bastok vs Windurst). I said I would eat Squid Sushi but I ate Sole Sushi this time.

Anyway, R.Acc of mine was dramatically improved with it. Here's the statistics taken by FFrep.
                        the statistics taken by FFrep.

                        R.Acc: 83.6% (56 / 67)
                        Avg. Damage: 62.8 (High: 106 / Low: 0 --- because of Stoneskin)

I'm not sure how come average damage was better this time although I don't get any R.Atk bonus from foods but I guess R.Atk bonus from Broiled Pipira wasn't enough to improve it because our skill cap is low.

I was able to shoot Sidewinder 5 times this time and all five shots hit the target. Here's the statistics of weapon skills in our team (Bastokans). None of our sword weapon skills with 120 - 150% TP could catch up with it.

I now realize RDM/RNG in LV60-capped is cool. We know our survivablity is excellent no matter what subs we have but also know our melee lacks firepower no matter what weapons we have. Our nukes are still powerful and Chanspell + Nuke is a killer once we dispel their Shell spells but it requires some hundreds of MP.

We don't have to stick to archery but whenever we need "Gate Breach" status, activate Sharpshot, Barrage and attack anyone around to store enough TP. Then look for the target with low HP. Use Camouflage and come close to it. Sidewinder. That's all.

I'll try Sushi at Uncapped but I have to wait till the weekend.

haha... RDM/RNG was my dream class before I actually started playing. I really want that mighty bow! But it rarely sells on ragnorak... not high enough for the level 75 garrison and I don't have that kind of gil anyway ...

                          ah well... some day!

RDM w/ sleep and demon arrows!

edit: Oh yea I just remebered that windurst salads give +racc now... maybe not as good as sushi... but it's only 1500 per 3 hours. And I really don't like to use expensive foods for skilling.
...so we will step away from the mainstream to live like vagabonds and common dropouts... don't you want to hang out and waste your life with us? -Spike

There are the little number of people interested in Garison quests nowadays and some of "Mighty" weapons get very expensive as a result. I just checked AH in Jueno and the highest bid price of Might Bow last time was 3.5M No stock...

Well, I'm fine with my Rapid Bow +1 for now. I'll get as many R.Acc+ gears as possible along with STR+ gears.

Anyway, archery is superior to our sword when we have no problem with accuracy as you see those formula here. Comparing the highest base damage,

                            Melee: D + fSTR(e.g., Gold Sword)

                            38 + int (38 / 9) + 8 = 50

                            R. Attack: Bow D + fSTR2 + Arrow D (e.g., Rapid Bow +1 and Demon Arrow)

                            38 + (int (38 / 9) + 8) * 2 + 34 = 96

As for foods increasing R.Acc, yes, Windurst Salads is one of them. Here're some more.

                            - Batagreen Sautee
                            - Beaugreen Sautee
                            - Flint Caviar
                            - Vegetable Gruel
                            - Vegetable Soup

I'm not sure how much R.Acc is increased but they must be worth eating.

Well you guys got me in the mood to level my archery. And as a result I was able to get 102 levels in about 5 hours, here is how I did it.

                              Bow: Short Bow
                              Arrows: Wooden Arrows
                              Beginning bow skill: 31
                              Ending Bow skill: 137

I went to Korroloka and killed worms till about level 63 and the skill started driing up so I decided to go to Qufim to kill worms.

I targeted a worm and went to work when a lightning elemental spawned and an idea occured to me, so I attacked the elemental and left the worm to it's own devices.

With stoneskin up and without engaging the elemental with my melee weapon I just reapplied stoneskin and cast aspir as often as I could and soon it had no magic left. All the while firing arrow after arrow.

Well with the weak bow and arrows I was using I was only doing 8 damage to this level 35ish elemental, and as a result I fired almost 600 arrows and got from level 63 to level 85 on this elemental!!!

So I decided this was my new way of leveling my bow, since we are uniquely qualified to fight elementals. I fought 1 more elemental in Qufim and the skill dried up at about level 91, my next stop was Beaucidine Glacier right beside the outpost.

These ice elementals are level 43 - 46 and in 1 fight(about 800 arrows) I was able to get from 91 to 126 then it was on to Xarcabard.

The ice and dark elementals here are 48-50 and I was able in one fight to get to 137 I believe that this is about as high as you will get here because the last 30 arrows I fired got me 0 skill.

I was out of arrows at this point and tired so I called it a night and logged of in Bastok. Before I went to sleep I did some research and found that the water elementals in Yhoator Jungle are 53-55 so they will be my next stop till about 150 then I will be fighting air elementals in the Labarynth of Onzozo which are level 60-61.

I am hoping that this will bring me very close to 175, after onzozo I will have to join a skill-up party and fight toughs to cap my skills, but until that point I feel this system works great.

Out of curiosity I just checked Mysterytour for weaponskill caps for RDM-bow skill and at level 35 it caps at 95 and I was able to get to 91 on level 35ish elementals. The ones in Beaucidine are level 45ish and I got to 126 and our level 50 cap is 125. And at level 50 it caps 136 and on a level 50ish elemental I was able to get to 137.

If this holds true with the others I will be fighting I should be able to get to about 158-160 on the Yhoator mobs and maybe to about 180 in Onzozo.
