Solo Avatars

What lvl did anyone solo the 60+ avatars did you have to wait till 75? or did you do it right at 60 or a little less, cause i have the shiva quest and i wanna go beat her down just wanna go at the right lvl so she dont rip me a new one.

I think with the lv. 60+ Avatar fights only RDMs and NINs at lv. 75 could solo them. I haven't heard anything of any other job capable of doing it.

I've been duoing avatars with my RDM75 linkshell mate the last week (for whispers to get access to Fenrir). At 75, with a NIN37 subjob and a Joyeuse, he takes minimal damage from most avatar attacks, but it's still a bit scary sometimes when he's between stoneskins/utsusemi and gets hit by either a level IV spell or a 2 hour.

For what it's worth, with +83 elemental resist(224 enhancing magic) from Barelementra spells, the most damage I've seen done to him was 443 from Ifrit's 2 hour attack. I've yet to have one of the avatars punch through my Stoneskin with their 2 hour(96 MND at WHM73).

If you're solo, it's a lot harder, since even a small mistake can make you dead at the wrong moment (particularly with convert, or losing a Barelement buff at the last second).

Leviathan and Garuda in particular are pesky. Their ability to heal themselves tends to make battles stretch out longer than normal, and a lone RDM will be hard-pressed to damage them faster than they can heal if they decide they want to spam Spring Water/Whispering Wind.

From what I've seen, RDM74+/NIN37 with good gear can win pretty reliably against all the avatars. Other subjobs may have a more difficult time, since you'll have to spend a lot more MP staying alive, with a higher chance of spell interruption without Utsusemi.

How would a RDM and a MNK work against a summon cause me and a friend wanna do most stuff together when we get all of our AF and hit 75 and with Garuda and Leviathan I know a THF(IRL friend) that would help me with killing them for the gil

Well, if you want the RDM to tank it, your monk better not do much of anything.. I trio'd them with a lv70RNG and lv75SMN to get all my whispers for Fenrir.. basically the RNG didn't fire a single shot until about 10%..

Im sorry, but if your info is accurate (15-WHM/no subjob yet), you wont be fighting any primal avatars (even with help) until sometime like early 2005, maybe even longer depending on how quick you complete LB1 and LB2 and also how fast you level up.

I have 2 characters i change the info to what char i am playing at the moment my other char is a RDM 55 on another server the Taru is just a fun thing to keep in touch with friends cause i left that server

A Lv 75 SMN in my LS has soloed some of the avatars but he has to borrow a friend's Vermillion to do so.

borrow a 2 mill cloak... i had a hard time letting a friend borrow my dark staff i had withdrawls from the LONG ass time getting MP back ; ; i never part with it again.

As 75rdm/37nin I have died a couple of times from Avatar's 2hr (even with the corresponding bar-element). It's very, very rare, but it does happen occasionally nevertheless.

Garuda and Leviathan are the only avatars I haven't been able to solo, mostly because they heal themselves and I do too little damage. Apart from that Ramuh is the hardest, I think, because he paralyzes; and rdm/nin has to just wait out the paralyze.

Fenrir, goes without saying that even a "regular" lvl 75 party can't take him on easily, so no solo action here ;3

Seen 3 75 smn take on fenrir.

Seen a 65 smn take on ramuh.
