then shouldnt a RDM prefer a Dark Staff over a Wind Staff, even though they should be able to afford it i rarely see any RDM in a video acutally use it when casting Aero III, and and even my enfeebling is maxed with a dark staff i cant even keep things asleep longer then a bard can but it might be because i dont have my Warlocks Tabard yet,hmmm

O_O I didn't understand that last part at all...

but I can say in Apple Pies genkai5 video, he has a lot of equipment change macros, and when he isn't using Wind Staff for nuking Maat with Aero3, he has Darkstaff on.. I also can't speak any japanese but I'll assume he had Ice Staff on when/if he was casting bind..

I believe I had Wind Staff when I casted Aero III.

I guess you saw me having Dark Staff after I casted Aero III three times before I used convert. I casted Sleep II with Dark Staff at that time but due to my gear swapping, you might not be able to notice that. Basically, I had a macro like this for Aero III,

/ma AeroIII <stnpc>
/equip main Wind Staff
/equip neck Elemental Torque
/equip l.ring Zircon Ring
/equip r.ring Zircon Ring

For Bind and Paralyze, I had Ice Staff.

I don't have the video on hand right now, but I do know most of your spells were linked to the corresponding staff. (Stoneskin and buffs were hard to tell, especially with Chainspell going off)

EDIT: Actually what I said may have been confusing, I'll assume you interpereted it as "when he's nuking he isnt using Wind Staff"
but what I meant is, "When hes not nuking (Wind Staff+Aero3) he has Darkstaff on"

Wow what a tangent, lol. Back on topic, though. I would seriously consider looking at whm 1-30 again. True, you could be blamed for death, and the job can feel really high-pressure at times, but a lot of jobs are like that.

Things to keep in mind about whm:

You can pretty much pick and choose your parties. Better yet, make your own.

Everyone can see your MP bar. If they pull a mob too early and you run out of mp mid-fight, hey, that's not your fault.

You can dictate pull rate, you can get your tank replaced if their armor is so bad that they're an MP sink, etc.

I've got a friend who has blm 70, rdm 42, and whm 33. He's told me whm is by far the easiest. He makes his own parties, replaces bad players when he has to, spends no time lfp, has very little death, and generally feels less stress than his other mage jobs.

As for handling adds, when I'm on rdm I always leave it to the bard to do. Gravity has a long recast timer, and I use it on every pull, so I don't always have it for an add, and unless elem seal is up the bard has a much better chance of landing sleep than I do (and yes I have a dark staff). Hope that helps.

Sleep is dark, I can sleep a wind elemental, I can't an undead monster. BTW A+ enfeeble > B or whatever bard skills, but most of the time the element of monster is more important, if your fighting crawlers rdms and blm's sleep (most bards don't even try to sleep processionares), if your against undead let bards do it.
