    Soloing M2-3

    I'm now at LV68 and it's time to solo the shadow lord. However, I already finished M5-2 as a San D'orian and I need to move to either Bastok or Windurst.

    I am now a citizen of Bastok and start to do missions from the beginning. After I saw some Japanese forums, I found there were some people trying to solo M2-3 and I felt like doing so. Most of them brought a lot of H-Portions and other medicines but I decided not to use them at all. I only used 1 Persikos au lait and 2 Yagudo Drink. That's all.

    Here's how I did.

    During the battle, I found that

    1) Sleep worked fine on the dragon.
    2) Blind didn't land on the ahriman
    3) Slow and Paralyze didn't land on the Dragon
    4) The Dragon has resist against Fire (not a good idea to use Enfire and Blazespike)

    Although evaision+ gears greatly helped me, I was lucky enough to beat them. I don't think I'm trying this again

                  First off, that was an amazing soloing effort. Like you said, you got lucky towards the end, but nonetheless, an impressive fight.

                  Was this filmed before the patch that prevented using spells above the cap for BCNM before you entered? Stoneskin is a ~L30 spell, so obviously, you couldn't use it once you started fighitng.

                    It was recorded the day before yesterday.

                    Mission BCs are different from BCNMs. Even now, any enhancing spells used before we enter the BC don't disappear. However, it is still hard for us to make it with this advantage.

                    By the way, I found some incredible red mages soloing M5-1. I'm trying this tonight or tomorrow.

                      This was impressive, but I'd be incredibly impressed if you can defeat the Archmage solo, especially since you can't sleep his minions (or even take them one at a time, unless I'm mistaken).

                      ADDN: Grendal, have you ever done BC20? I've been thinking about doing it, just for fun... if you have and know of a good strategy (or anyone else), I'd love to hear it. Thanks. Going to try out BC30 against Bitoso tomorrow maybe.

                        I've been thinking of trying to solo this myself. Your strategy is basically the same as my own... Glad it worked well.

                          There were only one Race and job who took out the bones in mission 5-1. And he/she was a Galkan Monk/Whm (I think he subbed whm...) The only 2 known job which can relatively solo this fight are Monk > Rdm > all others.

                            That is an AMAZING display of skill Apple Pie! *applause*

                            I honestly wish more RDM I knew were half as good at timing their spells as you are. ^^

                            Makes me want to go level my RDM instead of my BRD after I hit WHM75...
