    Here's the question ...

i know that maxing out a stat (as Int or Mnd) IS really useful to land Enfeebles and Nukes ... but ... when you change eq from +MP to + INT/MND ... you lose the MP ..

Ie. I start the fight with 2 Electrum Rings ... Total MP= 540
Press Paralyze Macro and change Electrums with 2 Saintly Rings ..
Total MP goes down to 495 MP and i've lost 40 MP ...

Can someone explain me why Macro Change Equip are useful and when?

Oh, and Post some example too

    Thank you ...

PS: Apple Pieâ„¢, i'm waiting for you

hehe, ahhh, its nice to be a taru...

can't say i have your problem. sorry, had to brag there

ok, here's my idea for you. you have, say 40 mp that you almost need to burn before you can go to your stat macros. i would say, either toss a few buffs out, or start with something highly unresistable, like dia2/bio2. then switch to a stat macro.

basically, as you chain through your fights, you'll almost never be at full mp. so you can probably not worry about your MP equip. only during a convert or when you're going for full rest do you want your MP++ gear.

now, i may be a little inexperienced in this, i've never had astral or electrum rings. but stated above, that's what i would go for if i were you.

      What the taru said.

      Cast dia II.
Switch in mnd eq + ice staff
      Cast para
      Switch in earth staff
      Cast slow
Switch in int eq + dark staff
      Cast blind + gravi.

That's how it goes for me.
Dia2 gobbles up 59 mp. It's NEVER resisted on exp mobs. ^^

      59 - 40 "free" mp from eq macro = Dia2 for a meager 19 mp. I can live with that. ^^

If you're fighting low def mobs where dia II might be a waste...
      /ma Refresh <me>

      Bring the switch macros!

heh, i'm a bio2 fan. and i'm also a fand of MND or INT over the elemental staves for enfeebles.

that and i'm 2 mnd away from the blessed 81 MND. where slow increases its effectiveness (i think?).

on a side note, all you rdm's should realize the effectiveness of bio2 (or dia2) + poison2. the DOT of those two together is tremendous.

Hmm... if only there were some 40 MP spells that didn't rely on stats. I'm sure a RDM has to have something like that...

              Well...

To top off with a few "off the back of my head":

              Spells that aren't esp. stat-reliant:
(Some rely heavily on "Enhancing Skill" though)

              Refresh - Exactly 40 mp
              Haste - Exactly 40 mp
              Blink
              Protect
              Shell
Dia2/Bio2 - Debatable, but they're never resisted. (mebbe vs HNMs)
              Sneak
              Invisible
              Deodorize
              BarSpells
              EnSpells
              Stoneskin
              Phalanx
              Regen
              Raise **

There. Toss any mixture of those to gobble up the free mp, then switch. ^^ Make sure to equip Warlocks pants before the enhancing-affected spells tho. (Mithras use RSE for healswitch, 32 mp!)

Currently as a 53RDM/BLM Mithra I have around 570MP w/food and equipment when I'm fully healed. One thing I realized after being bard for 75 levels is that there's some incredible things that can be done with the right macros (stat-wise etc.). Of course as rdm I wanted to use those abilities and I was a lot like you at the start.

Anyway, 570mp @ pull, so I stand and refresh myself (-40), Dia 2 or Bio 2 the mob (-59 or -66), and at that point start the equipment changes. I quickly dip below 500mp total when debuffing/nuking/healing/etc. because I lose 32mp from RSE for my +3mnd +3int magic cuisses. Also I lose MP from rings as those are changed for +mnd or +int based on the debuff. Of course if you're not at full MP, that doesn't matter. Landing your debuffs or nukes however does. Once the mob is finished I'll eqiup my dark staff and have a few ticks of mana if refresh is up all around and I can rest some back. If I see the pull will be slow I start putting on my MP equipment, and if it looks like I can fill up then I equip it all. As for converting, I have a single macro that swaps me to full MP equipment as well as light staff immediately. That means my cure 4 is paid for in full by my MP equipment after convert, and the light staff makes that far more effecient. After that a quick drain/aspir and some regen makes my HP and MP happy.

Anyway I definitely think that rdm's that go all out on MP equipment are totally wasting their most valuable slots which could be giving you fantastic stats instead once you're under your stat equipment MP total. Of course some people can't afford that type of setup, and others are just too lazy (*ahem*), but eh to each his own. I do think it's worthwhile to have the high MP total for when you can reach that (downtime/resting), and especially for converting, but honestly mana bonuses are wasted once you're down to your natural mana anyway, so why waste those equipment slots?

That is so true. I have 32/50 from equipment, 1 stack of food, and 2 linkpearls. ^^ I still need 4 more elemental staves. :x

                    Thanks again for the answer....

Since i've used these new macros maxing INT and MND, i've been able to land most of my enfeebles at first try ^^ (and i landed Silence too )

It's very useful to change equip ^^ When i hit lv 54 i'm gonna buy +3INT/MND rings and maybe a light staff ^^

                    Good Luck

Here's something to take into consideration when choosing MP equipment or Stat equipment: If the stat equipment will help you land the spell more, then you are casting it less, and thus using less MP in the long run. Due to that you may not need the +MP Equipment.

For awhile I used +MP equipment, but nowadays I go pretty much just for Stat Equipment. (I've Mithra RDM73 currently, 900ish hp 740ish MP.

When thinking 'Do I really need more MP?' the answer will of course always be yes... Can never have enough. :p But recall you are a RDM, you have Refresh, Covnert, and Aspir (if BLM or DRK sub). Are you Converting every 10 minutes and running low on MP that you need to rest? or only Converting every 15-20 minutes, just worrying about getting low MP?

If at higher levels you only carry one set of equipment as RDM I will think you are not a good RDM, as RDM has several different jobs and will need equipment to handle those different jobs to the best of his ability.

Also, to note, like bonovoxpsu I prefer +INT/MND from wand/shield over using the Elemental Staves when it comes to Enfeebling.

For Examples of my equipment change macros I use and the equipment I carry so you can see what I change with and use (please excuse typos/wrong words, recalling from memory):

                      Macro 1 - Enfeeb Equip
                      /equip main "Mythic Wand"
                      /equip shield "Astral Aspis"
                      /equip body "Warlock's Tabard"
                      /equip legs "Errant Slops"

                      Macro 2 - Healing Equip
                      /equip main "Light Staff"
                      /equip body "Errant Hpl."
                      /equip legs "Warlock's Tights"

                      Macro 3 - Convert
/equip +MP gear (electrum rings, hairpin, whatever items give the most MP you got)
                      /ja "Convert"
                      /wait 3
                      /ma "Cure IV" <me>

As Shiymmas stated, the Cure 4s to put yourself back to full HP are pretty much paid for by the +MP equipment int the Convert Macro

                      Macro 4 - Nuking
(Before Nuking I always hit my Enfeeb Macro to equip Wand/Shield and Errant Pants)
/equip main "Appropriate Staff" (If I don't have the staff, the Wand/Shield from the Enfeeb Macro is left up)
                      /equip body "Errant Hpl."
                      /equip ring1 "Zircom Ring"
                      /equip ring2 "Zircom Ring"
                      /ma "Nuke X" <bt>

I don't have a macro for resting like some, I just simply hit the keyboard button to rest and manually equip Errant Hpl. and Dark Staff. If I am resting for a long time, and I am able to get back to max MP, I will also manaully equip the pair of Electrum Rings I carry, as +40mp will give me a little bit more MP to cast spells (Refres/Haste) that I need to every battle before switching back to +Stat equipment.

My Hands and Feets are currently always Errant (Until I get enough for the lvl 62 Mithra Boots or AFv2 Boots and get myself Aquarian Abj. Hands, which I will then use those 24/7). My Head is currently only our AFv1 Hat (Elite Berret bought, which will be included in Enfeeb Macro and the Hat will be equipped in other Macros then).

My neck is curerntly Enfeebling Torque 24/7 because I'm too poor to afford an Elemental Torque and dun feel the need to buy a Healing Torque currently (which I want to in the future, and thus will modifty nuking macros to add that and enfeeb macros to add Enfeeb Torque).

My Belt always stays the same (Mithra RSE70) and my earrings are always the same (Moldative and Phantom). Certain spots (such as Waist, Earrings, Feet, hands) there are not much different in the equipment for different jobs, so I pretty don't care to buy additional equipment simply to safe inventory space (I like my inventory space :p ).
