  • Stat Boost RDM equip~

I was wondering in terms of rings, earrings, and everything that can give +1 MnND, INT DEX etc. Which should a Taru Rdm lean towards?

I noticed that my str is quite low and on IT mobs i dont think im gonna hit that much, so what do you Rdms think.

Str rings? Dex rings? (note for some reason subbing blm which i am gives more dex then whm and smn) INT rings? or MND rings?

    thanks

Get MND, INT and MP gear, other stats like DEX and STR are pointless for party play.

There's not much reason to have MP+ items for a Taru RDM, I would just try to have the best INT and MND+ gear.

You don't need STR or DEX gear for PT play. Chances are you won't hit an IT mob in the first place, and if you do, it will be for fairly low damage.
      There will be cake.

taru rdm/blm? MND MND MND MND MND MND MND.

of course, in the future you will also have max int gear and you will do the dreaded equipment macro switching, to maximize your spells.

        cheers.

Bono is right, MND gear comes first for tarus. Just hop on the Jeuno AH and browse through the gear- that's the best way to figure out what equipment is out there for you.

Other than MND, I'd say work on getting your convert ratio to be 1:1. This means that if you have 500 HP and 400 MP, you'll want to get these stats to match up (ie. 500 HP and 500 MP, 450 HP and 450 MP, etc.)--- this way you won't lose out on any efficiency when you convert.

Finally, polish off your Int stat. Although it is a major stat for Rdms, Tarus don't need to focus on +Int gear too much.

+Str, +Dex, +Atk, +Acc, etc etc are only really just for farming. IT mobs don't really care when you hit them, moreso at higher levels. When you're below level 30 and can melee, these stat boosts don't make any difference anyway.

not sure he'll have to worry about mp - right now i'm about at a 35 difference between hp and mp - with food that drops down to about 20ish. so for a taru its not a concern at all.

heh, in fact, for a while somewhere in the mid 50's, i think i had an exact 1:1 ratio. wish i had taken a screen cap...

hmm... now that i think about it, maybe i'll get an astral ring for a convert macro.

MP is certainly more important than +STR. Battles are rarely lost because someone has too much MP.

for a hume RDM should I focus on +mana or +int?
right now at lv 11, i have +7 to int and +6 to mnd

current eqp = willow want +1
                    shell shiled
                    brass hairpin
                    justice badge
                    scale mail
                    scale finger gauntlets
2 eremites rings (int +2 each)
                    cape
                    Blood stone
                    leather trousers
                    ash clogs

                      Yes.

Up Mnd, Int, and MP as much as you can and use macros to switch if needed. One of the most satisfying equips that I've purchased would be my Marine Gloves. As a hume, you can focus on one stat and make it pretty effective. As a hume with macros, you can focus on all three stats at the same time.

You won't need much in the way of MP gear unless you're at the beginning of a party or in the 10 minute intervals afterwards when you should be converting. Use MP macros for this.

When you're using mnd-based debuffs... switch to your mnd eq.

When you're using int-based debuffs or MBing, switch to Int+ gear.

If you can't afford sets of each, get what you think works best. If you are running out of MP, looking into +MP or a Darkstaff. If you're getting resisted, raise the corresponding stat (Int or Mnd). Work from there and you'll have a good set of eq in no time.

//edit: I didn't realize you were level 10. Most of what I said is intended for 41 and up. Up whichever stats you can at your level.

I am a Taru RDM, what enfeebles do we need MND for? The reason I'm wondering is because I already have awesome +INT gear from my BLM and am hesitant to have to go and buy new gear just to land say, Paralyze. Is Dispel a MND spell?

Here's a good, general rule to go by: any enfeebling spell that a whm can cast is mnd-based. Any enfeebling spell that a blm could cast is int-based (this includes the elemental enfeebles). If you have a question about a spell, check the AH. If its sold under White Magic, its probably mnd-based. Black Magic is probably int-based.

There are probably exceptions to this rule... but for the most part, I'd say its correct.

Macro swapping equipment isn't a bad thing. It forces you to keep focused on what is going on. Your pt will appreciate your attention.
