  • Gold Sword vs. Wise Wizard's anelace

    Hello guys,

I am a lvl 66 Rdm, and am wondering whether I should replace my Wise Wizard's Anelace (lvl55) with the Gold Sword.

I think my question is really this, is +10 attack better than +4 damage?

Any feedbacks will be greatly appreciated.

I do not plan on getting Wing sword, Joyeuse, etc., etc. since I am stopping Rdm for a while until my thf hits lvl 60. I just need a good sword for farming and soloing really tough monsters.

I purchased GOld Sword for 80k and sold the W.W.A for 30k, and I have to say that Gold Sword is soooooooooooooo much better than WWA. If you are lvl 62+, and cannot use winged sword or enhancing sword yet, I recommend you to get the Gold Sword.

I owned both at one point and tried switching between them against the things I usually farm. My conclusion was that the small increase in damage and the worse variance did not justify the 7% slower attack speed.

I just got my Royal Guard's Fleuret on the weekend. I can hit stuff now!!! Just thought I'd throw that in.

I don't think that the difference is that overwhelming either. I'd go with whichever is cheaper.

Nonono, the difference is noticable. You can't notice the longer delay on the Gold Sword, the difference is too insignificant to be detected. My damage strike by strike has increased significantly, about 20%. I farm cockatrices in onzozo a lot, and I hit them for 60-70 damage per strike with Gold Sword compared to 40-50 with WWA. A critical hit with Gold Sword does 130 on an Easy Prey Cockatrice, while WWA deals 90-100.

If you farm a lot, Gold Sword is the way to go.

Btw, you cannot farm effectively with Royal Guard's Fleuret, as the sword is only for lvling up sword skills while exp partying; it is an excellent sword nonetheless.

I cant use a Gold Sword yet, and my budget is too tight to get a WWA as well. The Fleuret is a step up from the Knight's Sword I was using. It's delay is almost as low as a dagger, it has 33 dmg compared to Knights 31 dmg, and I dont miss as much. For exp parties, or skillup parties its perfect. I will get the gold sword when I can equip it though, since I heard its the best farming sword for RDM.

So for the most part, you people conclude that Gold Sword > WWA. I was going to buy a gold sword, but my friends online said the WWA was better, so I kept it. At this point, I might as well just wait one level and get a Joyeuse -.-

HD: You stated that you sold your WWA to get a Gold Sword. If you didn't compare them side-by-side (fighting one cockatrice with one, then switching), many factors could have played a role. I used them side-by-side and so did Mylek. We both found that there was only a slight damage increase. Not to disregard your claim completely, I'm just suggesting that perhaps something else may have affected your results. If you want a sword for soloing really tough monsters, even your 20% difference won't change much (especially because the WWA's +Atk will really shine).

Personally, I bought the gold sword because it was about equal price with the WWA. I wouldn't have purchased it for a 50k difference.

Save up for an Enhancing Sword or grab a Joyeuse.

For me Gold Sword was pretty much the same as WWA. Higher DMG, higher WS dmg, but slower delay, I switched between both for a while and didn't really think either of them was better performance-wise.

Looks-wise though I prefer the looks and sound of the WWA, so I sold off Gold Sword and used WWA.
