Can Kuftal crabs take my swordskill to 175?

I've lately been skillup/soloing in kuftal, but now that evasion is maxed (yes, MAXED ) and swordskill is growing terribly slow, I wonder if I'll be able to go all the way to SW

Current skill is 171~

On a side note, I've noticed that this skillupping has made a TREMENDOUS difference when fighting the crabs (which con T to me). I should've been more diligent about keeping skills up, as they do indeed make a big difference in accuracy, evasion, and especially magic skill (i.e. dark resists and feeb resists)

I did a skillup party in Kuftal yesterday. I started at 192 and reached 200. One other member reached as high as 205 before I had to log off.
This was on Robber Crabs only.

You can skill up to 199 by fighitng hte Crawler Hunters in Crawler's Nest.

I capped sword (201 or 200) for Vorpla Blade solo in Kuftal, soloing Tough crabs at level 61 ^^

When you say "soloing", were you just fighting them, dezoning and then coming back after healing, or were you actually killing them in one session? :sweat: I'm not really brave enough to take on anything more than "a decent challenge."

Crabs are one of those we can easily take. Although it takes some time to knock each of them down, I'm pretty sure we're able to beat tough ones (up to +3 or +4 LV higher than ours).

What you need is,

1) Def+ foods (Fish Mithkabob, Steamed Crab, etc...)
2) Phalanx & enough enhancing magic skill
3) Your soloing skill

As a result, we really don't have to join in skill-up PT.

Against lvl 63 crabs you can cap your skill till 207. Beyond that maybe boyada crabs. I am currently helping my friend cap his club skill (whm 67 so he want hexastrike bad). At 70 with phalanx and defender only you receive about 10~30 damage 50~80 when critical. No Food used. MP issue can be solved with Energy Drain (man I love this skill...). I learned dancing edge! ... can't even use it /sigh.

General question about soloing: I'm level 62 RDM/WHM and enjoy killing solo sometimes, just to keep my hand in and prepare for fighting Maat. Can I solo in Kuftal safely with my regular party gear (AF, basically) or would I need more defense-oriented equip? I'd take fishkabobs or crab or some such, but is any further preparation required? I could also go RDM/NIN but I think the MP hit would hurt too much, especially as I'm Elvaan.

Any thoughts or suggestions for where I could solo would be appreciated. I don't want cazy high exp or anything, it's just a nice change from the party grind.

You need nothing special. AF armors and other basic gears are enough to kill them. You may want to bring some Acc/DEX+ gears and switch to them while hitting crabs for efficiency.

Well, I'd rather recommend /BLM for Aspir and Drain if you have it leveled enough. In case you're surrounded by accident, you can sleepga them and escape to the entrance. I like /DRK because I can use Vorpal Blade. I'll switch to /RNG once it hits LV37 anyway.

I don't usually go there because I don't want to bother LV50s leveling around. I always go to Monastic Cavern to slaughter orcs instead. You know, this tiny taru with regular gears is able to knock down even-matched orcs easily. We know crabs are as weak as orcs and maybe even weaker. So, I'm pretty sure you have no problem, either.
