  • Fast Cast = Fast Recast

Has anyone noticed recasting time of spells is somewhat reduced with the latest update?

All you guys with Warlock's Chapeau, check how long it takes to recast Stoneskin now. You'll be surprised.

Well, S-E seemed to enhance our fast-cast job trait. It used to affect only "casting time" but now it affects recasting time as well.

It takes 45 seconds to recast Utsusemi II but it only takes RDM74/NIN37 with Haste 32 seconds to recast it now, making RDM/NIN a god of solo and Balista.

    YES.

I was levelling my BRD job last night and just for kicks while waiting in Rabao as BRD32/WHM16, I decided to experiment with BRD32/RDM16 instead to see how much faster I could sing songs...

Well, it turns out that the recast timers are SIGNIFICANTLY reduced by even Fast Cast I now. I tested with most of the songs, and it seemed to drop about 15% off of the recast timers. Songs with 25 seconds recast timers dropped to 21 seconds.

As it turns out, I ended up sticking with BRD/RDM for the rest of the night and gaining 2 levels. :D I like it a LOT better than BRD/WHM... similar Cure spells, and slightly faster singing and recast timers now.

I'm sure this will make a huge difference with respect to Refresh as well, since it will make cycling through the party members a lot faster.

Actually fast cast has always reduced the casting time for spells, if you had the spell macro'ed you could recast it a few seconds before it appeared again in your spells list.

What the latest patch did was fix the bug in the spells list that prevented the spell from repopping when it should have. (Same with Haste)

          Hi Alcueid,

What I'd like to point out is,

          Before April 22nd
          /ma refresh <stpc>
          /p Refresh goes to <lastst>
          /wait 18
          /wait 4
          /echo Refresh Ready!

          Note:
18+4 = 22 seconds considering both casting (5 seconds) and recasting time (18 seconds)

With the update on April 22nd
          /ma refresh <stpc>
          /p Refresh goes to <lastst>
          /wait 18
          /echo Refresh Ready!

Has anyone fixed the macro like this recently?

Yeah, because rdm/nin wasn't already overpowered...they really needed a boost

Hmmm, my refresh macro is set at something like 20 second /wait right now. I'll have to test it out and see if I should reduced it.

Also Apple Pie, what dohe <stpc> and <lastst> do? Seems like'd be easier than using <t>, if it does what I think it does.

18 seconds is what LV60+ RDMs with Warlock's Chapeau get. Fast Recast is enhanced as Fast Cast is enhanced.

This is how Fast Cast job trait is enhanced as most of you know.

                  -----------------------------------------
                  RDM LV15: Fast Cast I (-5%)
RDM LV35: Fast Cast II (-5%)
RDM LV55: Fast Cast III (-5%)
                  Warlock's Chapeau (-5%)
                  -----------------------------------------

This works on Fast Recast, too.

Without Fast Cast/Recast, we need 5 seconds to cast Refresh and 18 seconds to recast it. Now I can cast/recast 20% faster.

                  (18 + 5) * 0.8 = 18.4 = 18 seconds.

That's why my new macro (/wait 18) works now. Need a proof?

As for <stpc> and <lastst>, you may notice how they work on the movie.

<stpc> is the same as <st> but it only targets players, not NPCs. <lastst> displays the name of those who are lastly targeted with either <stnpc> or <stpc>.

It's much easier to use them than to use <t>.

Why set wait to exactly 18 seconds? I have mine set to 16 seconds to give me a bit sooner warning in case I need to cast something else, or I'm casting something else. it also tends to take me 2 seconds to stop what I'm currently doing(i.e. in a menu, or waiting to cast another macro with <stpc>). The few seconds me me time to exit the macro or menu and cast refresh as soon as the timer is up.

I'm curious as to why you guys set yours to 18 seconds then.

*note* My RDM is 41, and I haven't done a whole lot of partying with it yet, just random fooling around with my LS.

Thanks Apple Pie, I tried those in a party today and they work great. Also I changed my /wait time to 18 instead of 20 at Lv.52, and it wasn't long enough. So I'm guessing that with your level and equipment the Fast Cast does mean Fast Recast aswell.

                          >Before April 22nd
                          /ma refresh <stpc>
                          /p Refresh goes to <lastst>
                          /wait 18
                          /wait 4
                          /echo Refresh Ready!

                          I have always used
                          /ma refresh <stpc>
                          /wait 20
                          /echo Refresh Ready!
                          for my Refresh macro.
Before I had my cap I had to wait another second or so after the echo to cast refresh, after I got my cap and got the last Fast Cast Refresh was ready a second before my macro went off. This was before the April 22nd patch.

But when I opened up my magic list, the recast on Refresh still had a few seconds left. So I could not recast Refresh after 18 seconds through the magic window, but I could recast Refresh after 18 seconds by using the macro.

After the latest patch, I can now recast Refresh at 18 seconds through either the magic window or the macro.

This was a problem that all ninjas encountered after level 40. With Haste on they could recast Utusemi faster if they had a macro set up for Utusemi, but recast time was not increased if they went to their magic window.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but has anyone checked to see if the recast time on Provoke and sneak/trick has been fixed as well? (Haste decreases recast on abilities with less than a 3 minute recast)

Haven't notice this myself... I will have to try some tests. My refresh macro is currently:

                            /ma Refresh <st>
                            /wait 18
                            /recast Refresh

For some reason the /recast function doesn't work when you hit another macro before the /recast command activates. For example. If I cast refresh, and soon followed by CureIII(with macro) the /recast function never displays in the log...

Once another macro is hit before the first macro with a /wait option in it is hit again, the next macro cancel's out everything past the /wait of the first macro.
