  • Importance of MND question

Being a RDM/BLM all my life, I have always focused on INT over MND. You see many topics on importance of INT increasing equipments but I have not found an equivalent for MND. I recall reading somewhere that MND is not as impt since Cures are capped.

Even in my changing macro, I have one for Attack, MP, INT, and Def, but no MND. How impt is MND? My Enffeble skill is 247 with RDM66. Will increasing MND help me to land enfeeble spells better?

I'll tell you of a interesting (or boring) story Tomoh. When leveling on Boyhada Darters, this was some months back. I was pretty much a RDM/BLM throughout my career lv1-67ish. I tried whm sub since we recently lost our whm in the set and the status curing and curaga was useful, however if Darters were to link, there was a phase were I couldnt put em to sleep. My regular PT members noticed it too, this was when I was testing WHM sub, a few points of lower INT with that sub, was this the reason my sleep was failing??

At this time I didnt have the emfeebling torque, since than, I doesnt seem to matter what I sub, I'd be fairly surprised if spells consistantly didnt land (1st attempt rate is very high)

The official expert guide I have (Japanese book) did some experiments.

      - RDM30/WHM15 (Enfeebling skill: 93 = Capped)
      - Casted Paralyze 100 times on Evil Weapons (all ITs)
      - Checked how many times it landed

      [MND 35]
      Success rate: 46%

      [MND 55]
      Success rate: 60%

Well, I'm not sure how I can take this 14%, as an improvement or just an error.

However, after I had shameful experience at Quicksand when I was LV50, I realized MND must affect success rate of landing Paralyze and Slow. It was really a shame because I, thought to be a specialist, asked Elvann WHM to cast Slow and Paralyze because what I casted hardly landed...

One more thing about MND. It seems to affect how many times they are actually "paralyzed" after the spell lands. I think this is very true because whenever I go soloing with DRK/WHM, I feel some differences between MND+9 and no MND boost.

It depends really on what you are casting.

What enfeebles are based on MND? (Elvaan best, Hume second, Taru/Mithra 3rd)
          Paralyze, Slow, Dia, Silence.

What enfeebles are based on INT? (Taru Best, Hume/Mithra 2nd, Elvaan 3rd)
          Blind, Gravity, Dispel, Sleep

...and Bio but it uses Dark Skill rather than Enfeeble,

and if you have BLM sub - Rasp, Shock, Choke, Frost, Burn, and Drown.

Refresh restored 150 mana at 3 points per tick and irrelevent of MND or INT.
Higher MND increases the effectiveness of Stoneskin max HP and EN-element resists.
Higher INT increases the effectiveness of Blaze Spikes resists.

Thanks all for the great info. I'm gonna try to squeeze in a MND macro and carry more equipments.

I'm currently in love with Rings u get from SMN's quest. I have all 6. I must say they are great rings. The best part is they cost me nothing. I use 2 rings when using attack magic spells, 2 for meleeing, and 2 for DEF purposes.

I have not done the research that Apple Pie has but i know when I forget to macro my solid wand in for +5 mnd I usually miss with paralyze and slow on ITs(don't ask me why I switch back to swords I am just really attached to it).:spin:

A lot of times I'm in a PT with another RDM, I usually cover WHM enfeebles because I land them more often(being elvaan), and have the other RDM cast BLM enfeebles, because those usually don't land for crap.

I've found that when chaining VTs that Blind is a VERY important spell. It doesn't help against IT+ but against a VT it allows the PLD to have a much greater chance to pull off parry, evasion, and shield blocking which turns into a lot less damage taken.
